Dr. Jose Bernardo Toro

I fractured my humerus and was advised by a doctor that I could just leave it and it would heal. Just by chance I was given dr toro’s name as a second opinion. Ex rays were taken and he sat very calmly and told me yes, I could leave it, but, the results may not be what I wanted. His explanation of what the outcome might be made a great deal of sense to my husband and myself. He also explained what it would be like if I had surgery. His knowledge and confidence made me feel very calm. My answer right there and then was “let’s do it”. It’s been about 2 months and I am doing great. I have no regrets. He was an excellent surgeon.

When my 99 y/o grandmother had a fall, she thought it was over. Dr. Toro and Daphne made the unbelievable into a reality. She had surgery and was standing within 20 hours post op. They gave her her life back and I am forever grateful for their work and dedication !

Back in July I had a TPF. I was scared and felt worried about the unknown. Dr. Toro explained everything that was going to happen so clearly and gave me peace of mind. After surgery he was diligent and answered all of my questions. He is honest and will not sugar coat which is how all doctors should be! Fast forward 6 months later, I have no pain and I’m back to my normal self, just with some metal implants now. My recovery was easy and I never thought I was going to feel “normal again.” I would recommend Dr. Toro 100x over. Best doctor there is.

After a few months of pain I came for an evaluation. Dr. Toro took excellent care in diagnosing my problem, explaining the options and providing me with a referral to a specialist who manages my condition, he then handled my rehabilitation after to save me hours of driving. I am back to 100%. He truly cares about his patients and the outcomes of his care.

I broke my tibia and fibula dr toro installed a rod and screws I was walking in a couple days completed my physical therapy with no problems on June 3 dr Tororemoved all the hardware I feel 100% I would like to thank dr toro for helping me and making a bad situation better. After an initial misdiagnosis that delayed care, and might have resulted in needless spinal surgery, Dr. Toro was consulted and correctly diagnosed an orthopedic problem. He immediately ordered MRIs of the knees and operated the next day. I don’t know the details, but discovered later that because of the initial delay my situation was dire, and only through Dr. Toro’s unhesitating and heroic efforts, my prognosis is excellent. Dr. Toro, an orthopedic trauma surgeon, is respected and revered within the hospital community, as well. One technician told me that when Dr. Toro orders certain tests they push everything aside to accommodate him, because he makes no frivolous demands, and every request involves a grave and consequential incident that requires the greatest speed and accuracy. Quite literately, the staff I spoke to are in awe of him. He is straight and to the point, and acts without hesitation. I can’t tell you how fortunate I am to have been treated by Dr. Toro.

Dr. Toro performed a surgical repair of a wrist fracture on me recently. He is a very skillful surgeon, straight forward communicator, and explained his treatment plan clearly. His associate Daphne ACNP, is very kind and competent. My functional outcome has been and continues to be excellent. Thankful I was referred to him.

We were sent to Dr.Toro from our local ER after having an accident which needed surgical intervention. We initially met with his PA, who was excellent.Everything was explained, the office was more then helpful throughout everything. Dr. Toro is an excellent surgeon, he did a very thorough job and was there to answer any questions. The only downfall I would have to say is he is a little arrogant. He was a little sarcastic regarding wearing a mask (for COVID safety) he went head to head with my brother who was there to support us(as my brother) (my brother is in charge of COVID policies at the hospital),was asked nicely to put his mask on &then not as nice when he didn't. As if hes above wearing a mask but he did so when it came right down to it. As a surgeon and practitioner I would never hesitate to recommend him to anyone at times his personality can be a little much. He knew what he was doing, extremely thorough in his outcome and expectations for follow up & very good at his job.

I broke my hip in a fall on Thursday afternoon and arrived in emergency at the Garnett Hospital late afternoon. Dr. Toro came to see me in emergency well after 6pm, and let me know that I would need surgery asap. He not only opened space for me for the following day, but contacted my cardiologist to get an immediate approval to go ahead. He said that if he could not get the approval in the morning, he would come in on Saturday and do the surgery. He told me I would be up and back to all my activities in two months. It is now less than two months and I am back to most of my activities, walking without crutches or even a cane. Dr. Toro helped me get the best Physical Therapy. He even showed me a movie of the x-ray of my surgery. The surgery is state of the art. He inserted a 10" titanium rod in the femur with screw to repair the fractured head of the femur and a nail with great precision. He told me the surgery took less than 13 minutes. His follow ups (two since the surgery) also good.

Dr Toro was excellent with my healing of a broken wrist and an elbow in which needed surgery. His explanation of the procedures and my future outlook were spot on. I would highly recomend Dr Toro .

I am an RN and met Dr. Toro in the hospital after I fell and fractured my femur while at work. From the first meeting in the OR he was amazing , straight forward and able to gain my trust. Fifteen weeks after surgery I am back to work and doing the things that are important to me and I attribute that to Dr. Toro's skills. I would and will highly recommend him to my friends and family.

Dr. Toro is an Excellent surgeon and works with superior support staff. I had a complete Achilles tendon rupture (3 years ago) and Dr. Toro performed my surgery. He made what many health professionals who saw my surgery called a beautiful & strong repair. Bottomline - I can not even believe it but, at 50 years old - I am back to all the normal heavy-duty lifting, surfing, skateboarding, and even snowboarding. After the surgery he (and his staff) were appropriately tough on me about pain management and getting back on my feet when needed - compelling me in a very smart way that appealed to my particular personality. My feeling is that not only is Dr. Toro a good medical doctor but, he is socially intelligent and knows how to get his patients motivated and in the right mindset for recovery.

Dr. Toro has put my son’s leg, my daughter’s leg and my mother in law’s arm back together again! ?? My boy is back on the wrestling mat. My daughter is back on her bike. And my mother in law is happy as can be. Dr. Toro loves what he does and it shows! Thank you for being so kind and patient with my kids over these few years. Hope we don’t have to see you again any time soon. But if we do we know we’d be in very good hands. Highly recommend!!

I broke my ankle 5 months ago and I was very lucky to have doctor Toro as my surgeon, he is one of the best in my eyes. Highly responsive and well-educated in field of work. Was available to me at all times. Always return my phone calls when needed be. I thank him very much for my quick recovery.

I was lucky enough to have Dr. Toro as my surgeon after I had an unfortunate accident causing me to fracture my elbow in many places. While I understood the seriousness of my injury, I did not learn just how much repair work had to be done on my own elbow until I had my first visit after surgery. I have lots of hardware in my elbow but I am now using my arm and so grateful for this very successful surgery. Dr. Toro has been very supportive in my rehabilitation and I am looking forward to full use of my right elbow and arm very soon.

Dr. Toro repaired my fractured patella February 28th. Two months later, as he predicted, I’m doing very well. I am still going to PT twice a week and I’m very pleased with my progress. I am very grateful to Dr. Toro for his expertise and calming demeanor. I recommend him very highly.

Dr. Toro repaired/stabilized a collapsed tibial plateau fracture (TPF) for my father. Communication was a bit lacking early on between the hospital staff, Dr. Toro, and our family. They wanted to do the surgery, but were getting consent from my father whom had been admitted for mental confusion. My uncle was there and asked that surgery be postponed until a family decision could be made. I had faxed a medical proxy to the hospital's records department 2 days earlier and it was finally incorporated into his medical chart. The surgery was halted and Dr. Toro took the effort to call my father's primary care physician. He explained everything and took the time to listen to the family's concerns. He got consent from me (the healthcare proxy) and proceeded with the surgery. It seems to have gone very well. Follow up was speedy and we had access to the x-rays right after surgery. Despite a rocky start, which may not have been Dr. Toro's fault, it was a great experience.

I suffered a tibial plateau fracture (TPF) at the end of November 2020 and was referred to Dr. Toro to perform my surgery. I had surgery done the morning of December 1st, 2020 and am now 10 weeks post-op. Dr. Toro is a fantastic orthopedic trauma surgeon, and my recovery has been going phenomenally. I already have full range of motion back in my knee and am cleared to start weight-bearing (walking without crutches). Speaking with other patients during my followup visits, they all sing Dr. Toro's praises. He is quick, succinct, but takes the time to answer any questions you may have. He visited me before and after surgey to answer questions and let me know how things went. I have no knee pain and am looking forward to a full recovery while continuing my physical therapy.

I was in a bad shape due to motorcycle accident, I was taken to Garnet hospital, this wonderful doctor, Dr. Jose Toro explained in precise but in detail, the extent of the injury, the treatment, the surgery, the after care, the rehab and what would be normal after the healing. While going over the surgery procedure, Dr. Jose Toro was very confident in his tone and demeanor, was very patient in answering my anxiousness and concerns, even in my sedated and extreme pain situation, I understood all what he said. Dr. Toro saw me after I suffered a three part fracture to my right shoulder. He performed an open reduction with internal fixation. After 5 weeks I had almost full range of motion and and continuing to improve with physical therapy.

After breaking my lower fibula Dr. Toro performed ORIF by repositioning the fibula back into proper alignment using plates, screws and a pin to hold the bone in it’s correct place thus preventing the bone from healing abnormally. Dr. Toro performed the same-day procedure without any complications. All of my concerns before and after the procedure were addressed including my options and future plans once completely healed. The entire process was professional and I’m now back on my feet going to physical therapy. I would highly recommend Dr. Toro should you need an experienced orthopedic surgeon that you can trust. After a fall in which I broke my fibula And the bone separated for my ankle I'm thankful doctor Toro was the Surgeon to put me back together again. He explained to me exactly what was going to happen and what he was going to do. He was very thorough and confident.

I was kicked by a horse and suffered a compound and displaced break to my right humerus. Dr. Toro performed surgery the same day. Six weeks later I have full range of motion and nearly full strength in my arm. The man is a healer. He is kind and compassionate but more importantly he is a brilliant surgeon. True to his word, he “fixed” my arm. In his care, have no fear. He can and will make you whole again. I feel so fortunate. I can not recommend him highly enough.

Bicep Tendon Rupture Repair Surgery - My wife recommended Doctor Toro. She has seen many successful surgery's performed by him witch gave me comfort with his abilities. Once I met with him and his team they explained all possible complications and what to expect through out the entire process including post surgery therapy. I personally did not experience any of the possible negative side effects. Therapy for me is ahead of schedule. I Highly recommend Doctor Toro and his highly skilled team.

Dr Toro performed surgery on my wrist for a fracture of radius bone. I'm a musician so it was important for me to have full mobility of wrist and hand. It required a plate to straddle and stabilize this for healing. I am fully recovered and have been playing clarinet after 3 months of healing and OT. I was referred to Dr. Toro after another surgeon refused my case, traumatic fractures of left proximal humerus, and suggested I might need a shoulder replacement. I was very concerned about having possible replacement surgery, as I am a musician, an avid outdoors person, fly-fisher, and keep/ride horses. I found Dr. Toro to be extremely professional, knowledgeable, thoughtful and considerate. He allowed me as much time as needed to ask any questions I had, and explained how he planned to repair the fractures. I trusted his judgement and am very pleased with the results of his care. His staff, technicians nurses and assistants are top-notch. Dr. Toro is an excellent surgeon. He repaired the fractures with a titanium plate and screws and today, just 9 1/2 weeks after surgery, I have my full range of motion back, can play my guitar, clarinet and fiddle, and do all the horse and barn chores I used to do. I would whole-heartedly recommend Dr. Toro to anyone who requires traumatic surgery.

Fantastic traumatic surgeon! Dr. Toro performed a high-risk surgery on my 85 year old femur...high risk because of blood thinner medicine...it's ten weeks later and the scar from my knee to the top of my hip is barely visible and I am getting around with the aid of a walker just fine....improving every day...already had that hip replaced twelve years ago. Now, I have two rods in my right thigh. Thanks again Dr. Toro!

I first met Dr. Toro when I fell on the ice on New Year's Eve and shattered my ankle. Dr. Toro came in on New Year's Day in order to do my surgery. My injury was severe and required a major operation and hardware in order to do the repair. Everything went so well that I was home the next day and my recovery was completed without complications and with perfect results. I then broke my hip in July and again needed an operation for the repair. I was up and walking around eight hours later.

My son fractured his femur twice within a few months. He was in excellent hands with Dr. Torro and his team. He spent time with us to explain surgery procedures, what to expect with recovery, and steps we could take with our active son to protect from any re-injury in future. The office staff was very friendly, thorough and skillful. I have personally spent a considerable amount of time with many different medical professionals and wish more were of the caliber of Dr. Torro.
