Jonathan Sobin

Professional, empathetic, and helpful– Dr. Jonathan Sobin is my favorite. After years of trying different therapists, I have finally come across one who I can actually talk to. He listens in a way that makes me feel heard -- respectfully with a perfect understanding of my (strange) thoughts and behaviors. You can really tell that he genuinely cares about the well-being of his patients by looking at the way he has dealt with me. I came to Dr. Sobin during a very critical time of need, a few years ago. He helped me regain my focus in life after the loss of my youngest son. Who I am and what I have achieved in life after the incident has got a lot to do with his care and assistance. I would never hesitate in recommending Dr. Sobin to anyone seeking psychiatric help. He will be anyone’s strongest advocate on their path to self-healing. Thank you, Doctor!

Having gone through a series of unforeseen disruptions of my life, I was definitely in need of a person who would really listen to my issues and respond with thought and care. Dr. Sobin was that person for me. He took the time to return my call on the same day as my initial inquiry and he was able to schedule an appointment just four days later. He was a couple of minutes early starting our first appointment and his office was comfortable and informal. The whole experience to that point made it (relatively) easy to talk about what had happened and to express the emotions I had been holding in. Dr. Sobin is a calming influence for a patient who is under extreme stress; he took his time with me and managed to help me look at grief in a very different way. Beyond just dealing with the events of the past few months, he helped me understand some family issues that had interfered with my self-esteem and also helped me set some important goals for the next few years. I highly recommend him!

Dr. Sobin was responsive and struck the right balance between staying neutral and sharing some perspectives on my issue. It is not easy to do that. Sometimes it's frustrating because a therapist won't say what he/she thinks. Other times they are too pushy with an opinion. Dr. Sobin was able to balance that, which I really appreciate. A great doc with a great sense of humor too!

I've been having sessions with Dr. Sobin for several months now. I've been getting help with things that have been going on with work and also depression. He was helpful and a very good listener. He is also kind and caring about my situation and I feel very comfortable during my sessions. I feel that Dr. Sobin is very good person to help me out as he’s already helped me with certain things such as seeing my coworkers point of view. His sessions are definitely very good for me and he has made me feel so welcome. I am feeling quite a bit better now and I am dealing better with some of the circumstances that were stressing me out.

Dr. Sobin was always there for me as I dealt with a giant loss in my life. His availability and responsiveness were really a big help but in addition he was ever patient and understanding. Forever grateful.

I've been struggling with grief a lot since my mom died and with that experience I've had a lot of guilt too. It got to the point where my relationships and job were starting to become impacted and I knew I needed to get some help before things got worse for me. Dr. Sobin called me back right away and was able to fit me into his schedule the next day. He listened to me, he was kind and compassionate and I never once felt judged or like my problem was somehow silly. I really felt like I could trust him and I really needed that. Dr. Sobin made a really crappy time in my life a little more bearable and I appreciate that a lot.

My husband and I have been seeing Dr. Sobin for a few months now. I was referred to him by a colleague after confiding in her about relationship issues. I was so nervous about counseling it took me 2 weeks to even call but Dr. Sobin saved my marriage! Over the course of our work with Dr. Sobin we have learned healthy communicate in our sessions. I was scared about opening up in front of my husband and another male. I worried that my concerns would be trivialized and I would be judged. But, the opposite happened. Dr. Sobin listened, shared his own experiences and helped us identify our issues and then worked with us to improve every facet of our life. He also helped us see each other's perspective by asking questions and having us reflect on past experiences. My husband and I actually ENJOY our sessions! I would give him 10 stars if I could. Thank you, you are truly an expert in your field!

Awesome! My wife and I both posted here because we are grateful for our renewed happiness in our marriage. Dr. Sobin has a way of putting things in perspective that is down to Earth and empathetic. I can be reserved with my emotions and in our sessions I feel good about communicating with my wife. If you are having issues in your marriage, or even want to improve a good marriage, Dr. Sobin is the doctor to see!

We were really in a bad way when my wife set up an appointment with this doctor. He did a truly wonderful job coming to understand the underlying trouble in our marriage, not just what we first presented. At that point we could begin to understand what was wrong and set about fixing it. The Doc also was great at giving us a sense of the deeper rewards of long-term commitment, a lot of which was a revelation to both of us, as our parents did not have strong marriages, to say the least. Highly recommended!
