Mr. John A Schnorr

IF YOU HAVE ENDOMETRIOSIS—OR THINK YOU COULD HAVE IT—PLEASE READ THIS! In case you don’t know, Dr. Scnhorr is a fertility specialist and professor for M-USC. My wife has battled endometriosis for 5 years and has had two surgeries in an attempt to treat it. Yet her problems persisted. We were referred to Dr. Schnorr by another doctor because he was supposed to be "the authority" on the disease. After seeing several specialists with no resolution, we were looking forward to our appointment with Dr. Schnorr, hoping he would be able to help. When we went into his office, Dr. Schnorr was accompanied by a resident doctor who was sitting in to observe. He started the meeting by going over the details of the female reproductive system and explaining how a woman gets pregnant. After allowing him to go on for a few minutes, my wife explained that we weren’t there because we were trying to get pregnant. He looked surprised and said, “I’m sorry, can you tell me why you’re here?” When we scheduled the appointment with him a month earlier, we forwarded my wife’s medical records to Dr. Schnorr for his review prior to our appointment and explained why we were coming to see him. Apparently, he didn't have time to review them. Once he did realize the purpose for our visit, he admitted that he did not consider himself to be an expert on endometriosis. I stated earlier that Dr. Schnorr had a resident doctor in the room with him during our appointment. Though I can’t prove it, I will attribute what happened next to Dr. Schnorr’s ego as he attempted to "save face" in front of this resident doctor. Rather than giving us some direction or referring us to a specialist in endometriosis, he instead asserted that my wife’s problem was IBS or perhaps even in her head. This was his diagnosis after doing absolutely NOTHING to draw that conclusion. The problem with that diagnosis is that the doctor that referred us to Dr. Schnorr—as well as two other doctors—explained that endo cells can exist in the body despite having a hysterectomy. We didn’t tell Dr. Schnorr this during the appointment and he never mentioned it. We also didn't mention that my wife had already seen a GI specialist who had ruled out digestive issues. Of course, he would have known all of that had he reviewed the medical records we sent a couple of weeks earlier. We didn’t really have a chance to say much at that point because he got frustrated with our questions and the entire meeting became uncomfortable as he rushed to end it. Prior to this appointment, we had consulted with no fewer than 5 doctors. Each one of them had no problem referring us to someone else or advising another route when they ran out of answers. I think this man is probably a great fertility specialist. But when it comes to endometriosis, you’d probably get better medical advice from Google. On a personal level, he came across as pompous and condescending. We finally found someone who could help us and now my wife is almost 100%. Endometriosis is sometimes difficult to diagnose and treat. It requires a little more effort and the standard "check-the-boxes" approach many doctors take isn't enough. Dr. Schorr and his staff are so professional and the best in the business. We will always be eternally grateful for all Dr. Schnorr did for us the entire way through the process including the wonderful support from his staff. My nurse, Jessica, was the best! Completely unprofessional and inconsiderate of patients! Dr. Schnorr complained about us complaining about being kept in the dark for nearly an hour past our appointment time! Added stress himself to an already stressful situation. First time being introduced to him was the day of a procedure. Unless you want added stress and being made to feel like you’re wrong, stay away!! His clinic is full of generally friendly people but they cannot keep appointment times and lack communication skills to let patients know.

Dr. Schnorr is the best doctor I have ever had. Even thought I'm pregnant, I'm sad to be graduating to my OBGYN for care. He was very friendly and personable willing to answer our questions at any time. He listened to our every concern and explained our situation with sensitivity and acted like we were the only people he would see that day. We will be forever grateful for what he has done to help us have a family!

Dr. Schnorr has been a great physician. We felt comfortable with Dr. Schnorr from day one as he made sure I understood what the next steps were. I really appreciate his honesty and how he handled our situation. I'm amazed how well he remembers the smallest details of my history and care. I highly recommend him and his team.

Dr. Schnoor is outstanding! His teaching method was formatted in a way that both myself and husband could understand. The visual tools were very helpful. He is very courteous and professional. He eased my anxieties almost immediately!

Dr. Schnorr was amazing. Even though I am a nurse, he explained everything as if it was the first time I had ever heard the information.

Dr Schnorr was absolutely amazing! He really addressed all of our concerns and explained things in a very easy- to- understand way. He always checked up on us every step of the way to see how we were doing. I could not ask for a better doctor. I would not choose anyone else!

My fiance and I felt like Dr. Schnorr knew what he was talking about. He made us feel like he truly cared, he spoke to both of us, and broke everything down to us. All of our questions and concerns were address with no problem. Dr. Schnorr treated us like he understood and he was very nice to us. I have confidence in Dr. Schnorr!

Coastal is great! They have an awesome staff and the best pregnancy success rates! We've done one fresh ivf and 2 frozen(1st froze unfortunately did end in a m/c)and Dr schnorr has been great through it all!

My husband and I are both medical professionals. We see every day how a patient can be treated like a number instead of a whole person. Dr. Schnorr made sure that didn't happen. He treated my infertility, yes. And he also treated my mind and my soul. Infertility is an incredibly difficult emotional journey and he was really present for all of it. I'm pregnant now. I saw the flutter of my baby's heart today on my 9 week ultrasound. The only thing I'm sad about is leaving my team at Coastal.

I saw Dr. Schnorr after having a failed IVF cycle with another Charleston doctor. During that cycle I had severe hyperstimulation and I didn't get pregnant. Dr. Schnorr was amazing. He totally put my mind at ease with my first visit by showing me how he could change the medications and improve my chances. The IVF cycle at Coastal made slightly less eggs, more embryos and I'm pregnant 1st try. We have 4 embryos now frozen for baby 2! I highly recommend Dr. Schnorr, Monique and the whole team.

Dr. Schnoor was amazing. During my first visit he did testing and found that I had endometriosis. We chose to go into treatment to make more eggs and inseminate and it worked with two tries. The office staff was wonderful including Kristen and Ashley. I could not recommend them higher. They are amazing.

Noticed that Dr.Schnorr is covering bad reviews with his fake good ones very well. I advise him to spend this time on correct protocols and there would be no need to cover bad reviews. My Dr. was Dr. Cook and I think she is more professional and I liked her, but I noticed she didn't take any decision without consulting with Dr.Schnorr who is the main person in the facility. They are a bunch of racketeers who care only about money.That's what I can say about my experience with this clinic.

Dr. Schnorr is simply amazing. He helped us create a family when other doctors left us without hope. He is brilliant. I had a blocked tube and my husband had a slightly low sperm count. We tried IUI first and it work despite other centers telling me we needed IVF. We got pregnant and now have two children who are the light of my life. We just stopped by the office to see everyone and it was wonderful to see them two years later. They are family.

He dismissed my opinions and concerns and tried to bully me into having immediate tubal surgery even though I had told him I didn't trust the test results from my old doctor. He refused to repeat the tests. I found another doctor who did repeat the tests and turns out I don't have any blockage in either tube. Thank god I didn't let him do the surgery to remove them!

My husband has a blockage in his testicles he was born with. We went hopeless and dejected to see Dr. Schnorr and he gave us hope. He was thoughtful and explained everything to us. Sperm was present and we now have a baby. Dr. Schnorr and the Coastal staff are amazing. Friendly, warm and truly rooting for us. We could not be happier.
