Dr. John J. Perry

Having a heck of a time. Front office didn’t return calls for 4 months, I even drove in twice to ask for return contact. They must deal with lots of inefficient process, as new lady said the one that hadn’t called back left. But I get the same amount of aggressive behavior from office mgr/scheduling. They attack rather than listen. Then blamed me for asking if other knee could go first, given dmg created over the long delay. You ask questions, they only answer what they want, then attack again. Something you think they would be better at given the unsatisfactory experiences they created, esp in patients with high pain in their lives. I had been told his front office was horrid but the doctor was excellent. I can verify the first statement myself.

Enough is enough, Dr. Perry seems like a good guy and probably a decent surgeon, but he's accountable for his disgraceful, incompetent, rude staff and I will shout my disgust from the rooftops- don't go to this surgeon if you want to be treated in a timely, respectful manner. Update: These people are learning-impaired!! Or, just plain incompetent. They just sent my husband a text telling him he has an appt on a day they tried to give him yesterday and he told already them we were out of town. They cancel his appt that took 6 months to get 2 days prior, then reschedule to a day he can't make. Then, the office manager calls him yesterday and says HE canceled the appt- clearly misinformed. Yesterday, when he asked to speak to the doctor, he was told he wasn't allowed to speak to the doctor, now this lady is saying he was never told that. It was on speakerphone- that's exactly what she told him. Who runs a business like this? I would never let this doctor cut into my husband at this point. I have no faith we'd get a good quality outcome and aftercare. You people totally suck!!!!

Dr Perry and team has performed two flawless surgeries for total joint replacement on my person over the last few years with the last replacement just wrapping up a few weeks ago. Both surgeries went extremely well, and it is my opinion that he is the best orthopedic surgeon in the State. His excellent surgical skills, along with his one-on-one patient to doctor communication skills gave me great comfort and confidence. I read an earlier review where his front office staff was slammed for not being up to par. This was a review that I do not agree with at all. Anyone who takes responsibility for their own wellbeing and does not look at medical office staff as a personnel concierge service will agree that his front office staff is as professional and proficient as any medical professional organization that I have ever come across. I look forward to my office visits and enjoy the office and support staff's great sense of humor and caring attitude. Perry Orthopedics is a top-notch organization and I recommend them to anyone in need of their services.

Amazing surgeon and even better man. Conservative, caring, professional, and honest. My recovery was so quick and I feel human again!!! His staff is EXTREMELY professional as well!!! Very knowledgable as well as kind:) Very special team!!!!

My experience with Dr. Perry and his entire staff, office and hospital has been absolutely brilliant and extraordinary. His confidence encouraged me that in replacing my left hip, I would be able to live a very productive and pain free life at my age of almost 93. I have just had my week after surgery follow up appointment and He is absolutely right. Dr. Perry is a fine, very competent,and caring man and I will recommend him to all my friends and family.

I am scheduled with Dr. Perry for a total knee replacement (also including a 2nd implant for a part of my femur.) After being hit by a car as a pedestrian, I struggled with PTSD for years, postponing what had become nessasary. My appointment with Dr. Perry, set me completely at ease, as he embraces all of the lastest technology and directed my every concern. I have received care everywhere from Chicago to L.A, trust me, this is a very special surgeon.

I had a great result following my right knee repair after limping around for 7 months. I would recommend him to anyone! My only issue was his front office operation. They were very slow to respond.

Good morning if I could give Dr Perry 10 stars I would. Dr Perry performed a full knee replacement on me being 58 years old after 3 other surgeries over the last 20 years constant knee pain bone on bone and ACL repair us I finally got what I’ve been begging for - relief! His office was nothing but the best - the surgery center where it was performed (Intercoastal) is top notch! Everyone was just wonderful! I thought when I left there I would be alone I wasn’t, Dr Perry has called, the surgery center has called Dr Perry’s assistants have Called - all to check on things. My instructions were easy my PT is going well for only being done four days I feel pretty good (with pain killers) and my recovery is on schedule! Dr Perry is a fantastic surgeon. His surgery team is also extremely good. His office team is very professional and very helpful with all the information I needed for surgery and recovery. He is a surgeon that you can really talk to which is so refreshing. I was treated like an adult and was very much part of my own care. I am 70 years old and Dr Perry just did my second hip replacement. This was an anterior hip replacement and my recovery time has been miraculous for me. The previous replacement took me almost a year to rehab and with the replacement I got from Dr. Perry I was up and walking the same day. I am extremely grateful that he and his team did my surgery. Found Dr Joe Perry to be an excellent surgeon, and I have had many past surgeries (20) to base my opinion on. His skill exceeds many others in this area and he was willing to take on a complex bone/knee repair that several orthopedic guys were unskilled enough or were afraid to tackle. Fairly open to questions and willing to actually spend a fair amount of time talking and listening to his patients. So he is among the best in 30 mile radius. Only complaint is why a specialized surgeon needs another special license in this screwed up state of Florida to be able to manage difficult and severe pain in their recovering patients. Dr Perry was my second opinion. The first Ortho said I needed hip surgery..even tho the pain was my knee down my leg. I went to Dr Perry and after the exam and x-ray he said it was psuedo gout...gave me a shot in the knee and I am fine... it's almost a year Always get a second opinion..

All doctors should strive to be like Dr. Perry. He listens to understand, asks appropriate questions, explains his findings and provides treatment options. His experience and confidence are evident as is his patient rapport. I'm always impressed by Dr. Perry.

DR.Perry , did both of my anterior hip replacements. At 59 then 64 years old . Prior to surgeries I had lost all of my range of motion ( flexibility). My L4 and L5 , knees were always in pain. Could not tie my shoe laces . Very grateful he was my surgeon ,the best .

Dr. Perry replaced my left hip joint, and less than two weeks later I was walking unassisted and with zero pain. I feel like I have a new lease on life. His staff is wonderful as well. Thank you all so much!

A woman fell in the parking lot and was bleeding profusely. The 3 people standing by working outside rushed to her aid. The 2 woman in the office were immediately told what happened an to please come with a wheelchair. Neither one grabbed a wheelchair and came walking outside as if nothing happened. Again they were told a wheelchair was needed and the woman strolled back in and appeared with one almost 5 minutes later with a look of aggravation on her face. Horrible visit. Dr. Perry was dismissive and basically was no help at all. I have xrays that state arthritis in both hips and bone spurs. I have been having to walk with a cane I am in so much pain. Dr. Perry told me it was maybe a cyst on my ovaries, that radiologist lie and say everyone has arthritis and I am too young. He told me it wasn’t my hips and offered no explanation, support or ideas on how to fix it. Useless visit and I left there crying. I don’t understand all the good reviews. Dr Perry, may be a good surgeon, but his staff is either incompetent, arrogant or both. I was a patient of Dr. Perry. I called in March of 2021 to set up an appt to see if lubrication injections would help my knee. The first available was May 6. They called on May 3rd to tell me the appt was improperly scheduled and had to be rescheduled. What does that mean? Why didn't they call me sooner? The first available was June 17. I can't speak about Dr.Perry because his receptionist spent the first few minutes of our phone call trying to give me many reasons why not to make an appointment..1.oh, you need a referral.. 2. He has to review your medical records before he decides if he might take you.. 3. Oh,,you had surgery on your right hip a year ago..he might not be able to take you..4.If he does decide to take you it will be May before you will get an appointment..5. I sustained a trauma to my lower extremity 13 years ago. A severe injury, Shatzgers Type VI comminuted and depressed tibial plate fracture.This injury would likely debilitate most, for life, knee replacement within 10 years, etc... Here I am 13 years later, pain free, no knee replacement, more active now in my 50s than I was in my 20s ( at least a better surfer) Amazingly talented surgeon I reserve my highest level of respect for this gentelman I sustained a trauma to my lower extremity 13 years ago. This was my first visit to Doctor Perry. The pre-visit process was seamless and easy to do. The office staff are friendly and very helpful. Doctor Perry was easy to talk with and explained everything in understandable terms.

I had a total knee replacement on my left knee in Februrary of 2020 at the FL Orthopedic Institute in Tampa, FL. I then had my right knee replaced in December of 2020 by Dr. John Perry in Melbourne, FL. When I compare the two experiences, the contrast couldn't be more different. Based on my left knee experience involving an extremely slow and painful recovery, I was very apprehensive about getting my right knee done. It was a tough decision to make and I actually postponed it until the last possible surgery window in December to commit. I'm very happy to say that with only a couple of minor pre-surgery communication issues (see Lessons Learned) the entire experience was the best that I could have hoped for. Kudo's to the staff at Perry Orthopedics for being courteous and professional. In addition, I found Dr. Perry to be very conservative, knowledgable, and humble - great qualities in a surgeon. He is quick to give credit to his team and when pressed as to why my surgery seemed so successful, his response was, "It's a thousand little steps that our team has been able to perfect over the years". I like that. The post-surgery staff at Holmes Regional Surgery Center were, in a word, awesome! They were attentive and accommodating, knowing exactly what to do and when to do it. They had me up and moving right away, which provided immediate feedback on how well the surgery had gone. In fact, when I woke up after surgery I immediately realized that this had been the right decision. I had agonized for months about getting my second knee replaced, you can imagine the relief. Although I had the option to stay overnight, I chose to continue my recovery from home. I arrived for surgery at 5:30am and was able to leave by 3:00pm the same day. That speaks volumes for everyone who had a hand in making my surgery/recovery as smooth and pain-free as possible. Many thanks to everyone who played a part in making this experience a good one. Dr Perry is one of the best if not the best Orthopedic doctor in the country. I had both knees replaced and his care throughout the process both pre and post surgery has been stellar. I would not trust my care to anyone else.

Rarely does a doctors office take you back at the scheduled time, but Dr. Perry's office had me in the exam room and x-rays taken exactly on time. Dr. Perry saw me within 5 minutes of the x-rays being taken, gave me a thorough explanation of my knee issue and explained my options. Refreshingly efficient.

I can say my experience with dr. Perry has so far been quite pleasant.. I am a new patient with him, so having his staff (thank you Cindy!) Get me in on such short notice was a godsend. I had shoulder exrays and a cat scan that scared me and I needed a professional opinion. Dr Perry was articulate and gave me a sense of positivity that I probably would not need surgery. This was my 1st visit to Dr Perry. Pre-retirement I was a certified case manager and regularly interacted with other medical professionals including MD's. I am not new to the arena. He is patient centered, listens carefully and communicates well. If you are in need of an Orthopedic I would highly recommend Dr Perry. Dr Perry is an amazing doctor. He listens and pays attention to what you are saying. I had the pleasure of visiting Dr Perry 2x. He is very informative and does not impose medication or his will on what he believes is the issue. He explains the issue in detail and makes recommendations. His staff is also wonderful and very attentive & kind. Absolutely would recommend his services when you need him. After waiting 2 MONTHS, limping around with a torn meniscus the whole time, they called to cancel my appointment just 19 HOURS before its scheduled time... the day after calling to CONFIRM! They told me he had changed networks the same day they called to cancel, and FHCP was no longer in network, as of that day - the day AFTER confirming. If Dr. Perry cared one bit about his patients and being a generally good person, he would have instructed his staff to not cancel any months-long, awaiting appointments for patients just because he suddenly decided he didn't want to take their insurance anymore. A respectable Dr. would at least offer a consultation. All they offered was for me to come as a full-cost, cash patient, which defeats the purpose of insurance... and makes it clear that this doctor cares not about his patients' well-being, but only about his balance sheet. Now I get to continue to limp around for another month until my appointment with a better, much-less-greedy doctor.

Dr Perry is fantastic. He corrected my knee, recovery was as planned. He spent a lot of time educating me how to avoid reoccurrence in the future. Highly recommend!
