I saw Dr.O’Toole in January of 2019 for what was told to me was a pinched nerve possible protruding disc from another hospital. Dr. O’Toole went over all my scans and explained everything and said without a doubt that I had a mass on my spine and needed surgery right away. That day I saw him I was barley walking because my legs where almost numb. I knew from that day forward I was in the best hands possible. Dr. O’Toole made myself and my husband feel at ease that we finally knew what was going on with me for the last 9 months. I would recommend Dr. O’Toole to everyone that needs a spine surgeon, you will be in the beast hands possible and the care you get from him and his whole team is just phenomenal. Even the care from everyone at the Rush facility is amazing! My toes are still a little numb, but I am walking normal again, all thanks to this magnificent surgeon and his amazing team! I can go in forever! 5 stars isn’t enough!!!

I have a lumbar fusion with dr Jhon O'Toole. Four weeks after the first surgery he has to repeat the surgery because he made a mistake using the wrong hardware. Since this time my low back pain has worsened because of the pressure of the scarf tissue develop for the surgeries. My life has been miserable. I have done a spinal cord stimulator three years ago but the pain persists. So I don't recommend this doctor.

Mixed review. I have no reservations with him as a surgeon; he is solid. But his “wait and see” opinion, makes me nervous since he was not familiar with my less common, understudied disease. My consult felt incomplete as far as his opinion of source/cause of constant pain; it was not addressed.

Ihad a cervical discectomy and infushion.i give him and his staff a 10 +. 4/22/19

Had a laminectomy and fusion back in December 17. The whole staff including the hospital staff was wonderful. I would definitely recommend them.

My husband was diagnosed with a lipoma in his spine and a tethered spinal cord. We consulted with several different neurosurgeons before we met with Dr. Otoole and knew instantly he was the right guy for the job. He knew exactly what needed to be done and had the experience to do it. We had felt so scared and nervous about what to do and we were relieved to have found the guy that knew how to help. Surgery went well and my husband is on the way to recovery. We're grateful we found Dr. Otoole.

Dr OToole was recommended by some other elderly patients for my 89 year mother with excruciating bsck pain- 9 out of 10 pain. 6 weeks later with PT and limited pain management she is 2-3 on the pain scale. Putting an 89 year old in for limited back surgery was a big decision but a good one! She is mobile again!!!

This was my first visit with Dr O'Toole I found him to be very conforting to me concerning my condition. I was afraid but it made me feel very calm and so did his nurse and staff. I have visited other neurosurgeons in the past years but Dr. O'Toole was so different and patient with me as a frighten patient. He assured me that if I had any other concerns prior to my surgery to feel free to call him or his nurse anytime and that meant a lot to me.

Dr O Toole removed a spinal cord tumor for me in July 2015. He was excellent and his bedside manner was great. Excellent results! I was in good hands all along and I'm a walking testament to that..,less than 6 months post surgery, I was back to most of my normal activities. I have 3 kids under 5 and work out every day so he did good!! His staff is great especially Andrea Whedon...wonderful & compassionate! I don't wish this surgery on anyone, but if necessary, he's your guy!!
