10/10! He’s operated on my ankle twice! Definitely a personable, highly knowledgeable, overall great guy. I’m walking a lot better and back to my usual outdoor activities.

Dr. Keeling helped me recover from a leg injury. The surgery he performed went well and the pain from the procedure was properly managed. I did have issues getting paperwork filled out for accomodations at work, and that is mostly due to the office being so incredibly rushed that I could not get them to spend the time to go over the forms with me. Otherwise I am very thankful for the work Dr. Keeling and others did to help me through my recovery it would have been an entirely positive experience if not for the paperwork. Would give Dr. Keeling even more stars if I could. He is very pleasant, takes whatever time is necessary to answer all your questions, and explains in detail what is happening from your injury and what your treatment course will be. I recommend him highly and am sure others if they seek treatment will see why I gave him 5 stars.

He is the nicest doctor I have seen! His entire team is fast and super friendly. He is thorough with his exam, patient when answering questions and very gentle with my injuries. I would highly recommend him!

We just had a really bad experience with Dr. Kelling. First, although I had asked him to look at our son’s back to see if we needed an additional appointment at both the booking and with check in nurse, the doctor chose not to look at his back and walked out after 5 minutes of examining my son’s feet. He also was very dismissive of my concern over my son’s foot pain because my son was underplaying his pain level. I loved Dr. Keeling, Diana, and the rest of the team at montgomery orthopedics. I had two broken arms and was disheveled and distraught coming into his office. I called so many places in the area and no one would get me in that day even though I was in so much pain and couldn't function. Dr. Keeling's team got me in that same day and not only provided me with physical help, but emotional support too. When I found out both my arms were broken I was terrified and so sad, Dr. Keeling helped wipe my tears, came up with a recovery plan to maximize my mobility, and by the end I was laughing with his team. This practice is amazing! They will see you almost instantaneously. In the many times my wife and I have seen Dr. Keeling, he has been spot on with his diagnosis and he's always given us the correct way to proceed.

I would recommend Dr. Keeling to everyone that had an orthopedic issue. He is a truly great doctor and has wonderful side manner. Awesome very professional and addressed any issue or concern I may have had in addition took his time in doing so. I wish we had more like him!

Misdiagnosed, inadequate treatment, get a second opinion, treats film, not the patient

I would not recommend Dr Keeling. Five months after surgery, my ankle is in worse shape than before the operation. I had injuries to a ligament and bone/cartilage in my ankle, yet now there is even more pain in my ankle, including in a new place, and I have less overall range of motion/mobility, even though I have been doing physical therapy well beyond the recommended time. A second MRI confirms what I've been feeling, which is that neither the ligament nor the bone/cartilage has improved from pre-surgery. I wish I had never gotten this surgery. Keeling had told me before the surgery that there was 100% chance of ligament being fixed, and 85% chance of the bone/cartilage. He insisted throughout many follow up appointments that the ligament was stabilizing/stable, despite me reporting continued pain and problems. Then, when he was interpreting the final MRI results, he conveniently ignored all ligament issues. I only saw that the MRI proved there are continued ligament problems after I asked him to give me the raw results so I could read them myself. Regarding the new pain that I've developed since the surgery, he told me that it was just scar tissue that would go away with more physical therapy and movement. This did not happen and is now my primary source of pain, and after seeing the MRI, he gave a new explanation that it may be a bone/cartilage issue after all. On another note, there were some more minor yet still frustrating administrative problems with his practice. Scheduling during the pandemic was at times quite difficult because he doesn't do telehealth. I needed to call multiple times for the billing office to give me a concrete estimate about how much the surgery would cost in total, which should be routine. At the first post-op follow up, the PA did not send over all necessary info to the physical therapist. Etc. Etc. Overall, I was very hopeful at first. I had visited other doctors who didn't really take my ankle issue seriously, and Keeling seemed genuinely different. But once I decided to go through with the surgery, and especially after the surgery, things changed and it seemed like I was just on an assembly line rather than a patient. So... I hope I can find another doctor who can at least help me fix the new problems I gained from the surgery. At this point I'd be happy to just go back to having the problems I had before Keeling cut open my ankle. I would not recommend Dr Keeling. Waited for 45-50 minutes before I saw the Doctor. We spoke for maybe 2 minutes. Extremely rushed with both the Doctor and the nurse that I don’t even know if they are good providers or not. Will try another place next time.

Dr. Keeling is a wonderful orthopedist. He explains all of one's options. He operated on my very arthritic foot. He takes the time to answer all of one's questions even those you think of after he has left the room. Lastly, he has a good sense of humor.

Efficient and pleasant from start to finish.

Just 5 stars all around. Dr. Keeling took his time, explained everything, and I felt very comfortable. He’s got a great bedside manner, and is just so nice. The staff is wonderful, too, and the offices were just so well-kept that it relaxed me from the moment I walked in. Highly recommended. Third doctor I have used from this group, and ALL of them are stellar.

The wait time was brief, the office was immaculate, Dr. Keeling's manner was friendly, positive, focused on the issue, clear explanation and was interested is being sure I know what to do.

Two visits both went great. Dr. Keeling correctly diagnosed, treated, and followed-up on my foot injury. It all went very well. Pandemic protocol in office is excellent. Staff are very helpful and efficient. More specific directions to patients about parking would be helpful. It’s a little tricky and really matters with a foot injury.

Dr Keeling is one of the finest orthopedic surgeons in the country. Dr Keeling performed my ankle fusion and the process from preparation for the surgery, the surgery experience itself, and post operative care and long term follow--up were exceptional. I have had two highly successful knee replacements and surgical rotater cuff repair to base my comments on.

Dr Keeling is great! His staff is wonderful especially Diana. He is punctual, listens closely and cares. The PT staff is amazing!!

Dr. Keeling is awesome. He runs and swims so he understands the needs of us amateur athletes. He's friendly, funny, and confident but never cocky. I've also had weight loss and gain and he's never fat shamed me. As a female especially that is so important! I've seen him for patellofemoral pain syndrome, DeQuervain's, fifth-metatarsal fracture (same one, twice) and shoulder impingement syndrome. He knows I'll never do N-SAIDS, and I prefer doing home rehab, so he doesn't try to push it on me. His office spaces are homey-photos of him and family, his hockey jersey, plus he's a Vet who has served our Country. The office staff is always friendly and welcoming and those who assist him are too. He is well worth the long trip from Northern VA. Dr. Keeling is the man!

His staff at the surgical center in Chevy Chase and Kensington office are very warm and competent as well. First meeting Dr. Keeling he took his time and was very compassionate about my injury. we started with the most non-invasive approach which i could really appreciate. unfortunately, that wasn't the final solution and I did in fact need surgery. with that being said I was so comfortable with Dr. Kneeling and is team. Great physician. I’ve had a number of sports related injuries that Dr. Keeling has addressed with exceptional skill and good humor. The quality of care here is exemplary.

I went to see Dr. Keeling for a second opinion on my Achilles tendonosis. I had had physical therapy previously that did nothing but exacerbate the problem. Another orthopedic doctor who specializes in foot and ankle problems wanted to perform major surgery on my ankle and foot that would have had me in a cast for six weeks, a boot for six more, and intensive physical therapy, informing me that it would take a year to fully heal. Booking that appointment with Dr. Keeling was one of the best health decisions I've ever made. He recommended a conservative course of treatment, beginning with physical therapy to strengthen and rebuild the tendon. He said that he had done extensive research on Achilles tendonosis based on studies done in Scandinavia, and that the majority of sufferers can rebuild their tendons without surgery and alleviate all pain. After six weeks of PT, I've experienced a huge improvement. For seven months, I couldn't walk or climb stairs without pain. Now, for most activities, I'm pain-free. Still have more weeks to go with PT, but I consider this a success of major proportions. Not only is Dr. Keeling superbly competent, he also is friendly, direct, and very easy to talk with. He answers questions honestly. He emphasizes that all patients are different, which is why he has a bagful of different approaches to try. I'm very happy to have found him. Dr. Keeling is the first orthopedic surgeon treating me or members of my family who combines skill, knowledge and experience with true compassion for his patients. 3 providers before Dr Keeling had tried unsuccessfully to relieve my foot pain. He listened carefully to me and gave me an option not provided before. He made time for me whenever I needed it and dealt with me with patience and warmth throughout. And his option worked. I highly recommend him for patients of all ages.

Misdiagnosed because he treated and x-ray instead of the patient. Did not listen, accused me of malingering. After surgery, tells me I need an ankle fusion and pushed me to schedule while I was coming out of anesthesia. Records request resulted in one line entries after being seen for months.

Rarely I write reviews but I had to this time because I found Dr. Keeling after being dissapionted with a previous sergeon and staff. Dr. Keeling and his assistants was always warm and friendly and anything I needed they was their for me. The whole staff was professional and patient. Montgomery Orthopaedics and Dr. Keeling were great. They fit me in with no wait after an acute injury, followed up at appropriate times, and were willing to take the time to explain things in depth.
