Dr kast and staff is friendly and I had a great experience dr kast is very professional and for my experience I will definitely give him a 5 star

I first saw Dr. Kast in February 2021, that appointment went well. I had several follow-up visits and on March 22, 2021 on my visit with him, he asked me to sent him the CD of my MRI. The CD was mailed om March 23, and his office received it on March 24. Never heard from him again. I called four times following that appointment and finally got someone on the phone on June 23rd. I asked that they return my CD ASAP as I was seeing another doctor at that point. She asked me where, and all I told her was the hospital, not the doctor. The CD belongs to me and I wanted it back. The lady said she would have the radiologist call me. Still have not heard anything. Dr. Kast seemed to be doing great, his office staff is terrible and completely non-responsive.

So far I have been impressed with the professionalism shown by his staff. Dr. Kast has shown to be very professional as well....surgery is on 6/8 and i will have a better idea of my opinion of his ability.

I have never been so disappointed in a Doctor. Tried to convince me that my pain was in my head when my MRI clearly showed a problem. He sees what he wants to see. Stay away if you are a veteran . Just read the other reviews . It's sad because the office staff and the other physicians are great in this practice. I had a seasoned doctor tell me to stay away from doctors who can not find the problem and start telling you it is in your head .

Best doctor that we have seen in years. Very professional, explained everything in language we could understand. Went over MRI picture at a time and explained that surgery was not recommended at this time . If surgery is needed in the future I wouldn’t let anybody else do it but Dr Katz.

My sister started to have a severe unbearable headache and after cat scan, MRI, and diagnostic tests, God selected for her- Dr John Kast. He explained in detail about her tests, the surgical procedure needed, prognosis, expectations, and above all answered EVERY question that I had. He did not rush out, but was very thorough in his findings and treatment plan. He informed us that he had performed over 2000 of the procedures my sister needed and also told me about his medical experience. This was very reassuring to me since I am a registered nurse and knew how risky and crucial brain surgery is. He kept us updated on every single aspect of her care. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. John Kast to anyone in need of a professional experienced Neurosurgeon. His bedside manners are awesome. My body was numb from compressed nerves in my neck and could bare walk. I was referred to Dr. Kast. After receiving the results from an MRI the problem was finally diagnosed. I was headed for a wheelchair as a quadriplegic. Dr. Kast did surgery on my neck to release the nerves and fused two cervical vertebrae. The afternoon after surgery, with assistance from a nurse with the IV pole, I used a cane and walked. Dr. Kast is one of God's medical angels. Thanks you him, I have my life back.

I had more problems after he'fixed ' the issue than before. Do yourself a favor and go to HSV or BHAM

Having been turned down for surgery by UAB neurosurgeon, husband was accepted as patient by Dr. Kast. He performed surgery on two different spine sites & with two different issues: stenosis & malformed vertebra in lower back. Once headed for a wheelchair in near future, husband now walks over a mile with no assistance. Shoals is fortunate to have Dr. Kast practice here. We found him an excellent communicator prior to & after surgery, explaining exactly what procedures would be performed so laymen could easily understand, without condescending. A gentleman he is & patient.
