I have brought two of my children to him for years and he is the greatest. My kids love him and trust him. He always listens to them and is very patient and helpful.

Excellent in diagnosis. Superb in choice of medication treatment. Very effective results.

Dr John Flatt misdiagnosed my daughter with “anxiety” instead of seizures. She went to Children’s hospital with qualified Doctors who ran the correct test opposed to just putting her on Prozac. She has a brain tumor. This Dr. should not be trusted. He hops locations often. Sad

Coolest Doctor I Ever Went to

There are no words for how awesome this Dr. is. We drive 3 hours 1 way just to keep him as our children's Dr. when he left Lafayette. I would fly in for appointments if he moved even further. His compassion for his patients and parents is 2nd to none. I have never seen or interacted with a Dr. that is as clear and patient as he is. Totally agree with previous review his interaction with your child is also 2nd to none. You get your time and he makes sure you have asked any and all questions and understand everything. He gets to your child's level so they too understand what and why is going on with them. He gave us answers in the 1st visit when no one else had been able for years; years and many many Dr's later having answers was such a relief. It takes a village to rasie childern and this man is a vital part of our village and we wouldn't have it any other way. There are no words for how awesome this Dr. is. After waiting > 3 months to see him, and then waiting 3 hours that day to see him, he was rushed, unprofessional, and seemed not to care. AVOID.

I would not take my child to Dr. Flatt. In 2010, He diagnosed our 16 yr. old with a grade 2 astrocytoma. After her first surgery, she continued to have seizures. He continued to insist they weren't seizures, but her body's way of dealing with the trauma of being diagnosed with a brain tumor. In other words, she was faking the seizures. We sought out a second and 3rd opinion. They were indeed seizures. We took her to Duke University, they belived her. She passed away on July 11, 2016.

Normally wouldn't post something negative about a professional but I feel that this information would be very much appreciated for anyone who is looking for a pediatric neurologist. I would not recommend Dr. John Flatt in Covington, Louisiana. We drove 3 1/2 hours to see him and came across at least 4 accidents on interstate that put us 25 min late for his appt. The doctor refused to see us and thought we would just want to reschedule. After 2 months of waiting for this appt and losing a day of work. What a waste! He had his receptionist tell us instead of coming out of his office to tell us himself. This shows what kind of doctor he really is. We have been bringing my daughter to see Dr Flatt since he opened the office in Covington. He took his time and was thorough . He answered all my questions and his interaction with my child was incredible. I think his office was the first positive experience my daughter had with the medical profession. Not only is he professional he is a caring family man who can look at the situation as a Dr and a father. Highly recommend. Very disorganized office, and never returns calls. Dr is great, but over scheduled and not enough support staff. After waiting 3 months for an appointment to get EEG results and driving from out of state for the appointment, Dr made us wait 2 hours before being seen, only to find out he never even got around to reading her EEG. Totally incompetent and a waste of our time. That is unacceptable, and we never returned again.

Such a caring and very knowledgeable doctor who explains what he is doing and why.

Under no circumstance would I use Dr. Flatt! We drove 3 1/2 hours to see him and were 25 min late due to several accidents on interstate and he refused to see us. They thought we would want to reschedule?!!! After 2 months of waiting for this appt and missing a day of work to see a doctor who Acts like this! Don't waste your time with this doctor who doesn't care??
