Dr Berger did a fantastic job, upper bone grafting and 7 implants top and 7 on bottom. It was a long journey and these arches look and fit perfectly. I picked an oval style.

Waiting is awful. We had to wait over an hour at our first appointment. The doctor spent only few min to explain about surgery. Luckily, surgery went well. But, we have to wait again almost an hour at our 2nd appointment. They should manage the time better. I won't go back this place.

Dr. Berger is an excellent surgeon and I could not be happier. I had upper jaw surgery, bone graphs and dental implants. Not only was Dr. Berger wonderful but Patty who works in the office is an absolute doll. She makes you feel more like family than a customer. Thank you so much!!!!

I really did feel that i got scammed by this office. My son had four wisdom teeth extracted back in February. For some reason they had "outside anethesiologist" and charge me $600 out of pocket, so i thought id be able to claim it with the insurance anyways so i paid. So when I was trying to claim it with the insurance, they needed the Name, Address, the license number of the anesthesiologist to properly claim it. The name nor anything else about the anesthesiologist infor was not provided by the office. Now that ive called them numerous times for the info, they would not give anything but the name. To make this long story short, they are not willing to help me with my claim, they already got the money and they dont care about anything else. I really did feel that i got scammed by this office. Hi. I had throat cancer radiation which affected my front teeth. I am an EXTREMELY demanding person and only want the very best do not trust or believe anyone - I have to find out for myself. I scrutinized Dr. Berger and if I was impressed, you can be too. Yes, he had a lot of patients waiting for him and the first time I saw him, I had to wait a long time and chewed out the office staff who were then very accommodating from then on ("I am a cancer survivor" and that got them going). However, he is busy because he is also the go to Doctor that Sharp relies upon too for the worst cases. So yes, I can wait now that I know he is one of the best. Dentists here know of him because his rep is great. you should be happy and thankful you have such a great dentist there and if you wait a little bit, so what. Your teeth have to last you the rest of your life. He really does know his stuff just like my cancer Dr. at Sharp, Dr. Uhl. And yes, if they pass my muster, I don't mind telling everyone.

Dr. Berger had to do a complete Total Maxillectomy due to severe bone infection tion and necrosis. He responded on an emergency basis.

I do not recommend this oral surgeon Joel berger ... He did a procedure that wasn't explained to me . Even when l asked several times.... He put bio oss bovine (cow) material in my a graft ..wouldn't answer when l asked what it's from...and l didn't ok it... I felt very pressured...l didnt need the procedure ...l had a lot of problems because of it . Bad

Terrible. Dr. Berger is the worst doctor in the history of mankind and should have his medical license revoked immediately.

Dr. Berger destroyed my health and my life. I am in constant misery from the horrific pain and damage that Dr. Berger caused. Before you let him operate on you, go to the California Medical Board site: mbc.ca.gov and see the $400,000 medical malpractice judgment against him. Then go to sdcourt.ca.gov. Better yet, paste this link in your browser: courtindex.sdcourt.ca.go… then click "party Name Search" and on the form fill in "Civil" and "San Diego" and his name as Defendant, and you will see the dozens of lawsuits against him. If I had done this, I would have saved myself from this agony that is my life now. Here is my story: I had double Jaw surgery with Dr. Berger on 9-15-2018. Prior to surgery I had many appointments with Dr. Berger. With family members present, I told him repeatedly that I had previously had two turbinate reduction procedures by ENT's in the past and did not want him to touch these vital organs inside my nose that are essential for breathing. I gave him the reports from both doctors. He said he would not touch the turbinates in my nose and stated that there was no reason to since they were reduced twice already in the past and he had a CT scan showing their location. During Jaw surgery he cut the turbinates out of my face with scissors and then burnt them, destroying the mucous membranes and my ability to breathe properly. Since then I have been in constant pain. I have been diagnosed with Empty Nose Syndrome (ENS). Google it. Nightmare condition. I no longer have the ability to warm and humidify the air so my nose is horribly dry, there is no mucous, constantly scabs but never heals, stinging, and hurting. My throat is red and sore like strep throat due to the cold, dry air hitting my throat. I have terrible vibration in my nose and face. I suffocate and feel like I have plastic wrap over my face and can't breathe. Berger was paid an extra $1,000 dollars for cutting out the turbinates that were perfect prior to surgery and had already been done twice by specialists. Also, Just before surgery, his office clerk suddenly wanted $2,500 dollars for special guides which were not covered by insurance and would make the surgery more accurate. Obviously we paid. No one told us about this until right before surgery. I also had to have two CT scans because his clerk took the wrong image and had to re-do it, so I got double radiation and double charges. After surgery, my septum was crooked and bent to one side, with the right nostril almost twice as big as the left. I have a painful vibrating sensation in my nose. I have permanent nerve damage with no feeling in my upper teeth, gums, palate and lip. The post-surgery CT scan shows surgically reduced turbinates and there is an unrepairable hole between the nasal wall and the maxillary sinus. My septum was put back on crooked and is bent so far the air can't flow in right. Joel Berger would not discuss my post-surgery pain and I had to visit and pay many doctors to find out what he had done. I have spent the past two years seeking help in the United States and in Europe. I have been to top universities. I have seen ENT's, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, and reconstructive facial plastic surgeons, but no one can repair the damage or alleviate my pain. I have received stem cell therapy at enormous expense; it failed. One jaw doctor said, "We never cut through the nasal septum like this" and recommended that I re-do the orthodontia to try and match my teeth to the off-centered crooked jaw. I am undergoing orthodontia a second time at great expense. I had a surgery done to try to reconstruct my septum by reinforcing it with bone graft, but the damage Dr. Berger caused can't be fixed. I met a victim of Dr. Berger - a young woman who would have been pretty if he had not cut her septum during jaw surgery collapsing her nose into a saddle nose deformity. I am so disappointed and distressed by dc Berger ‘s lack of consideration. I don’t care how good a surgeon he is if he cannot spend adequate time with a patient and explain what is going to happen- Dc. Berger received me , right away gave his diagnostic and spent 30’ max barely answering my questions. Then I receive a call from his staff Who tells me: this is how much it will cost, your insurance will not cover, when do you want to schedule! That’s it-Horrible manners, him and his staff do not care. And if I want to have any explanation I must make another appointment (pay for it even though I just paid $600-consultation fee!

Dr. Berger is a genius! after seeing 6 doctors, Dr. Berger figured out what my problem was!! Thank you! I highly recommend Dr. Berger and wonderful staff :)

Dr. Berger did a great job with the first surgery I did with him (gum surgery). But he is rather moody! And I’m not sure how great it is to have a moody surgeon. I went in a few years after that surgery for a consultation to get a different issue fixed and he made us wait two hours to see him, was in a horrible mood when we did, he didn’t give us the time of day, and basically said he doesn’t want to help me. He spent 30 minutes on my first consultation and not even 3 minutes for my second one!

I went through double jaw surgery, bilateral jaw joint replacement and genioplasty for a severe overbite. Dr. Berger and his staff are truly talented. I am so grateful that I can breathe better and chew on both sides. I am so happy I went through with this surgery. I have all of the feeling in my face and my nerves have completely healed. My quality of life has improved dramatically. The surgery also improved my side profile and appearance.

Coming into Dr Berger's office to get a complete facial rebuild including prosthetic jaw joint, 6 separate bone grafts, cutting and relocating mandible , removing previous plates and screws, 20 tooth implants, cosmetic relocating of my ear post jaw implant and more that I cant recall....... The road getting to Dr Berger's was treacherous. Once finally here I felt home, I had landed where I needed to be, completely comfortable and confident. Simply , in the hands of the very BEST !

I had a surgery that was pretty profound. 5 of my upper teeth including one in the front were gone due to pulling or accident. I was confidant i chose the right man for the job. Dr. Berger is very good at everything even the very tiniest detail. Surgery was a breeze plus he placed a gum graph from my mouth to the front, making it look so fabulous in my mouth. I did not have any pain-ever. 3 cheers for Dr. Berger! i feel fantastic!

Dr. Berger got me after my previous specialist destroyed my mouth. I honestly don't know how he's been able to fix this, but he is a perfectionist, and someone you want on your team if you need any kind of implants, or other surgeries needed. His staff are kind, hard working, and amazing as well. If you want something done right, go to the best. Dr. Berger is the best, and I am so grateful he was able to restore my mouth.

From the initial consultation to the final check up my experience with Dr. Thayer was first rate. Great outcome from my accidental trauma.

I noticed Gab and Nicole at the front desk always had a smile and a friendly hello for each patient arriving for treatment. From the first appointment with Dr. Thayer I knew I was in very capable and caring hands. He went over every detail as he developed my treatment plan. Sarah and Cindy the Surgical Techs were also friendly and efficient. Esme, the Insurance and Surgical Coordinator went out of her way to accommodate my schedule with surgery dates. I highly reccommend Dr. Thayer and staff.

I have been in terrible pain in my jaw for well over a year. Dr. Olin saw me as an emergency patient and did extensive oral surgery. He diagnosed the problem and explained it to me clearly and in a way I would understand. i would recommend this office to anyone looking for a great oral surgeon. Dr. Berger and his staff are amazing!!!!!

I do not hide my name here. I HATE this quack. He removed the soft palate in my mouth although the expert he referred me to recommended a very simple procedure. Because of him, I gag and cough every day and am constantly embarrassed at having to explain these episodes to people, with my face a bright red color as a result of the convulsions. I suffer indescribable pain when acid from my stomach flows up my esophagus in to my throat, down in to my airways, and the acid eats away at my airways

Dr. Berger's staff, specifically their office manager is an unprofessional nit wit. DO NOT GIVE THEM THE OPPORTUNITY TO COMPROMISE YOUR HEALTH.

Dr Berger has performed surgery on me twice. He is a very experienced man with good bedside manner. The surgeries went perfectly and I recovered very quickly due to his recommendations and would definitely refer others.
