Dr. Jerry J Tomasovic

My son had traits often related to autism but he did not fully fit the criteria. He definitely fit the criteria for ADHD but there was something else going on as his speech and fine motor skills were underdeveloped. By the age of four, James had seen multiple doctors without a known diagnosis. Finally, a psychologist referred us to Dr. Tomasovic. I didn’t realize it at the time, but it was the best thing to happen to James. The first appointment, Dr. Tomasovic sat on the floor and interacted with James. This was completely different and refreshing from the other doctor visits where the physicians spoke to me and ignored James until the last 5 minutes of the appointment. Towards the end of the session, Dr. Tomasovic took his pen out of his pocket and offered it to James. He watched how James took the pen from him and broke into a smile. He then acknowledged me and said he believed James had Sensory Processing Disorder and ADHD. It was wonderful to have a diagnosis we could work with moving forward. Dr. Tomasovic was fully involved in the process. Making sure James’s medication worked correctly, prescribing specialized rehab, communicated with his school…he made sure everyone was on the same page moving forward. When James was 6, a counselor at the school told me he had a low IQ and would probably never read. Dr. Tomasovic told me not to listen to them. That there was more to James than a standardized test could show. When James was 9 and still couldn’t tie his shoes, I expressed my concern to Dr. Tomasovic who simply said he could wear slip on shoes or Velcro. When James was 12, I fretted he had no organizational skills, Dr. Tomosovic kindly suggested I let James find his own way to keep his stuff instead of me trying to conform him to my preferred method. Simply put, Dr. Tomasovic was the best advocate James ever had. He helped me realize that different was ok, and neither I, nor anyone else, should try to force James into being what he wasn’t. Today, James is in his senior year at UTSA earning his degree in cyber security. He can read but doesn’t enjoy it. But when it comes to math and sequencing, he is scary smart. His system of organized chaos still stresses me out but it works for him. And he has a girlfriend who doesn’t mind tying his shoes. Thank you Dr. Tomasovic for helping James bloom as the amazing confident young man he has become. And thank you for helping me realize it was ok if James didn’t fit what society thought he should be. Dr Tomasovic told my sister she would never walk & to give up trying because her condition would only get worse. Years later she is walking, performing in theater, and teaching dance with no assistance needed. Don’t waste your time or money with a Dr that does not care about his patients or helping their condition.

When I was 7 years old I was suddenly unable to walk. My parents brought me to Dr Tomasovic and he promptly told them that I would never get better, in fact I would only get worse. Obviously a parent would never settle for this to response and I was brought to another, more compassionate doctor who was ready to find a diagnosis. I am now 20 years old and I have been out of a wheelchair since 2013, walking, teaching dance, and so much more. If my parents decided to stick with Dr. T, who knows where I would be. Dr. Tomasovic diagnosed me with ADD as a child. I had hoped to bring my own children to him.

I taught special education for years. All of the Licensed Specialists in School Psychology and the Licensed Diagnosticians who tested and qualified my students for special education always recommended Dr. Jerry Jay Tomasovic. When my own three sons were diagnosed with ADHD, I naturally consulted with Dr. Tomasovic. For the past thirty years, as an all level special education teacher, new special education teacher mentor, and mother, I have seen Dr. Tomasovic accurately diagnose medical conditions and prescribe medication that is spot on. More parents than I can remember went to see him after the school recommended him, and my students’ parents, were always as amazed, as I was, at how excellent a physician Dr. Tomasovic is. He is a ten star doctor and goes out of his way to truly improve the lives of his patients. I unequivocally highly recommend Dr. Tomasovic as a pediatric neurologist. I scheduled my appointment 2 months in advance and had my insurance verified in advance as well However when i arrived i was told there was a issue with my insurance and health care account, I asked the receptionist to double check the paperwork but she very rudely refused. I contacted my insurance and it turned out there was no issue the staff at tomasovics office had overlooked part of the form they were sent by the insurance company. I informed the receptionist that this was the case and she finally double checked the paperwork and found that there was no issue however she said i would have to reschedule my appointment because the doctor did not have time to see my son when i asked why she said they had took my son off the appointment list when they seen there was an issue. However i was never contacted to say there was a problem or the appointment was going to have to be rescheduled. I had to drive an hour to their office wait about 30 minutes in the waiting room just to be told there was a mistake on the forms then waste about another 30 minutes getting in touch with the insurance company just to find out they overlooked their own paperwork and because of their mistake my appointment had to be rescheduled. The Receptionist was very rude and condescending talking to me like i was wasting her time because they cant read their paperwork right or at least have the courtesy to pick up a phone and say they cancelled my appointment. The waiting room was very solemn and had the feel of a funeral parlor rather than a kids waiting room. As i have not yet seen the doctor i cannot say whether he is good or not however if his staff is so rude and incompetent i can only imagine he wont be much better. It's been 3 weeks since I was suppose to get my results and when I call they either hang up on me or transfer me to a line that no one ever answers or say they will call back and never do...I give 0 stars to this doctor

we love Dr. Tomasovic but he has to have the worst staff that a medical office could have. He moved to another office and noone bothered to let us know. We showed up to the Stone Oak office to try to speak to someone and it was empty, gone no longer in bussiness!!!!! We have been with him for 5 years. My highschooler has been without medication for the last 2 weeks. Not one human to talk to. When a nurse from the other doctor in the same office tried to help, they sent the RX to the wrong pharmacy, so we are back to square one. Who the hell let's a child go 6 days without their medication for adhd???? I have been calling everyday asking why my daughter has not had her refill. No one calls back. The office likes to change policy without any notification. We have been patients of Dr. Tomasovic for 18 years. I am a little mad!!!!

I wouldn't know what kind of physician Dr. Tomasovic is..... I have been attempting to get my so in to see him for 2 weeks now and I can't get a return phone call from the staff. We switched Neurologists and began seeing Dr. Tomasovic about 3 months ago as he came highly recommended. With in the first few weeks he was able to diagnose my daughter with Epilepsy and started her on medication immediately. With several adjustments on this medication and us realizing it was not helping we called to get an appointment asap. After 4 days of calling and numerous messages left, we never received a return phone call. I finally decided to show up to his new office where they scheduled me in for an "emergency appointment" the following week. After many nights of no sleep and my daughter having severe seizures, we were eager to go to our appointment today to determine the next step. I received a voicemail this morning cancelling my appointment. When I tried calling back it took me 7 phone calls and voice messages to get a receptionist on the phone to see why he had to last minute cancel us and she said "because he has to go to his Botox office". To me it seems a little ridiculous that Botox is more important than a young child with seizures. Not only was his staff not responsive to the many phone calls and messages I've left in the last few weeks, the receptionist today was not helpful at all and didn't seem to care one bit that I was upset over my canceled appointment. DO NOT GO SEE DR. TOMASOVIC FOR NEUROLOGY! You will be pushed aside because Botox is clearly way more important to him. The staff is absolutely terrible at communication with their patients. They refuse to call you back in a timely manner.

Tomosovic is great...his girl who is supposed to refill your meds. HORRIBLE. I called in for a refill on Thursday. Was supposed to be filled by end of day. Here we are on a Tuesday now and no call back ( like promised) and still no meds. I am pulling her from his office. Messages are not given to doctor, they don't return calls to patients. They suggest supplement bars and vitimans for weight gain please that doesn't work. Tried to up my sons medication that is making him lose weight. Have to call office numerous days before get any type of answers.

Dr. Tomasovic is a great doctor for the 15 minutes you see him. But his staff does not return calls and is probably the worse staff I have worked with. Too bad he is the only pediatric neurologist is San Antonio. Wish my son's old neuro was still in town.

Dr. Tomasovic has cared for my daughter for almost ten years now for her chronic migraines. I think he is a wonderful compassionate doctor, however his staff was very rude and refused to let my daughter be seen since my secondary insurance didn't have a referral. They are dumb as the primary pays first. (Insurance nurse here) The gatekeeper receptionist had my daughter in tears and she was forced to reschedule the appointment. I do believe the front desk should do everything in their power to make a good impression. Dr. T himself has come up to the hospital and been available after hours and returned my calls in a timely manner. We always let him know about staff issues, so they can be addressed. 1st appmt w Dr T, and both my teen and I love him. He spent well over an hour in the office with us, talking mostly to my teen, and then talked to me. He was insightful and knowledgeable, and my teen left encouraged. He gave us 5 referrals so that we could select someone who takes our insurance. He seems to genuinely care about my daughter. Was very pleased with my experience today. The office staff was very friendly, (Huge improvement from my past experience being in this office) seems like there is new staff and they actually treat the patients well. Dr. Tomasovic is a kind, compassionate and caring physician, which is VERY hard to find in this day and age. He takes the appropriate time with his patients, doesn't dictate the treatment plan but rather works with the patient or caregiver to create the patient-specific treatment plan, and doesn't end the session until your questions are answered. He does have a wait for appointments, but it's because he's a good doctor. I highly recommend him!!

Dr. Tomasovic is absolutely amazing! He spends the time with you explaining everything and ensures that you don't leave with any questions. He's extremely knowledgeable! I recommend him to everyone!

Dr. Tomasovic and his PA were wonderful with our son, but sadly his front desk staff is very rude and unprofessional. As a professional who works with various medical entities, Dr. Tomasovic came highly recommended, but sadly, even they warned me about the front desk receptionist and how rude she was. I was hoping that all these people were incorrect, but sadly they were not. So just keep that in mind, especially when you get that overall first impression. Dr. Tomasovic however, was great and helped guide us in the direction we needed to go, I just wish he would eventually address the front desk worker and her behavior. Overall it has been a good experience. I believe my daughter has only seen Dr T twice. Normally we see the nurse practitioner and he is very good as well. He approaches with a reassuring humor. I initially chose the NP because I could get an appointment quicker, but I'm glad I did and I'm sticking with him. But back to the former, Dr T was very observant and experienced. He could identify behaviors that I did not even notice. Neurologists are hard to find in this area. I made an appointment with one previously and waited months for the date. When I got there, it was then that they told me that they did not accept my insurance. I got a peek of the back office and there were binders and papers stacked higher than a human standing. At the time I was frustrated and devastated from all of our 'special needs' experiences and I remember sitting down outside of that neurologist's office and crying my eyes out because I knew of no other place that would diagnose my kid. We love Dr. T. He helped Dx our son in 5 minutes when others failed. He is amazing and compassionate. I wish the world had more doctors like him. He has an amazing staff as well. Great doctor and would recommend to anyone.

We have been with Dr. T for almost 7 years now. He is absolutely wonderful. I hate to see some of the bad reviews. My only comment is that the market on good pediatric neurologists is limited in San Antonio. Never I have been felt as if me or my daughter was unimportant or hurried. I have had trouble getting through, but then again I don't wait for return phone calls. I call every 45 minutes until I get someone. It's your child, be pro-active! I love this Dr, my children love Dr. T and his NP. He doesn't waste your time, he is brilliant, kind, empathetic and very devoted to your child's neurological needs. Without a doubt my children would not be as successful or have progressed as far as they have without Dr. T and his NP. (each child had a separate issue, one is on going.) He is worth every penny and well worth the wait. If you are looking to help your child, to help them be successful in their unique way, Dr. T is the place to start. Personally, I prefer physicians who are actively doing research because it means they are looking at current research and their knowledge is fresh. My sons has been seeing Dr. Tomasovic for years. He has educated himself in the field of most disabilities far more than most doctors. He treats one of my sons (who has Cerebral Palsy) for seizures and the other son for ADHD. Over the years, he has listened to me and goes on what I say and what he sees when we are there. He is not the kind of doctor that will treat a person for something if he thinks it won't help his patient. I gave him 5 stars as he is the best doctor my sons has ever had and I respect both his knowledge as a doctor and his respect for the parents and the care he has given my son. I do know that over the years, the insurance process has proved to be a very difficult process especially if you are dealing with Medicaid either with and without other insurance. This is not his fault and his staff is having to make sure that everything regarding insurance has to be perfect which might make some frustrated. I, myself, have had this problem, but that is not their fault. ( It is the fault of the government, insurance companies, and the entire medical system.) Stay, Stay Away! Don't go to this Doctor! Just the worst experience ever! Went to Dr. Tomasovic as a specialist referral. We were there to inquire about testing for my Son with ADHD, instead we received rude comments and no testing/recommendations! He acted like we were wasting his time by saying "there are 2 Neurologists for 1.5 million people", but he actually wasted ours! I didn't know all 1.5 Million people go to one or the other Neurologist! We drove 120 miles round trip to see him and paid a $40.00 copay which for what we received was not worth it! He spent a few minutes with my Son. My Son was trying to be cute, because he was nervous. So this Doctor states that he has a cutesy schtick and defiance! He said that he has patients in jail like him and he will end up wearing an orange suit! Completely inappropriate! Now they have sent us a bill for this so called service! They billed $300.00 for a few minutes of rude comments! They were sent a referral approval number from the PCP, but now act like they didn't get it! Our son was born on 11/26/2013, and he required an initial consult while in the NICU and a follow up appointment 3 weeks later. Before speaking with Dr. T, I did just what you're doing now. I wanted to research the doctor that was scheduled to see my son. I read most of these reviews, and I prepared myself for what I thought was going to be a bad experience. Apparently there are only a select few Pediatric Neurologists in the San Antonio area. We had absolutely no problems with the doctor or his staff. Our experience has been nothing but a pleasant one thus far. We are 100% satisfied with the level of service received. I would highly recommend this doctor to friends and family if necessary. While my son was in the NICU, he even took the time to come in and sit down with us. He answered all of our questions in a down to earth fashion. He didn't sugar coat anything, but he also didn't lack sensitivity to our situation. Now I can see how big of a deal this is, as he is a very busy doctor. It makes me appreciate the experience more. I felt I had to give him the credit he deserves. How many good reviews are there for the bad ones received?
