Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also referred to as rehabilitation medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with diagnosing, evaluating, and treating patients with physical disabilities. The primary goal of the physiatrist is to achieve maximal restoration of physical, psychological, social and vocational function through comprehensive rehabilitation. Pain management is often an important part of the role of the physiatrist. For diagnosis and evaluation, a physiatrist may include the techniques of electromyography to supplement the standard history, physical, x-ray and laboratory examinations. The physiatrist has expertise in the appropriate use of therapeutic exercise, prosthetics (artificial limbs), orthotics and mechanical and electrical devices.

Dr. Marks saw me for my nerve conduction study and she was very impressive. She was very compassionate and kind. She was very thorough explaining everything about the test along with making sure I was comfortable. Her bedside manner was such a pleasant experience. Dr. Marks and Dr.Scott have been a wonderful team to have working with me through the painful issues with my spine. Just when I felt like throwing in the towel they both have restored my hope in pushing forward.

I had a nerve conduction test with Dr. Marks. She was very nice. She did a great job in explaining the test to me and made sure I was comfortable.

Went in for EMG nerve study. Called early in the morning to say that she would be running behind by a half hour and that I should show up a half hour later than the appointment time. Very nice and a good conversationalist. Explained everything about the procedure and made sure I was comfortable with what was occurring. All around good doctor and a very nice person.
