I went to Dr Houser for a cortisone injection in my shoulder. He did not numb the area at all before the injection. He claimed that the numbing agent was in the syringe with the cortisone. Really? It was intensely painful and unpleasant. Since then I have talked to friends who have had this procedure from other practitioners and numbing agent applied beforehand and they felt nothing. Will not return to this doctor for any kind of treatment.

His personality is dull, similar to his enthusiasm for helping patients. I cant speak to his technical skill set, since he noted he could not help me.

Arguably not very good at offer suggestions or solutions. When I told him about my experience he really couldn't give me any insight to what was going on. Don't pay for a professional who can't give professional insight to your problem. I can say this with confidence, as the previous reviewer mentioned, Dr. Housner doesn't care about his patients future health. Clearly he has better things to do. Dr. Housner may be a fine surgeon; I don't have access to the operating room to see him in action. This review is about his "bedside" manner, based on ONE specialty appointment that I'd waited over a month for. When Dr. Housner entered the room and shut the door behind him, he remained standing with his back up to the door. He came nearer only when it was necessary to touch me. The conversation yielded no suggestions, such as "Apply heat or cold," only "Go to physical therapy." (I had been hoping for some guidance, such as, "If you do this and this, it will improve your condition.") Fortunately, the resident, Dr. Sander Rubin, seemed less patient-averse. Dr. Rubin took the time to explain my condition using an orthopedic model. Even one or two encouraging ideas from either of these physicians about ways I could help myself would have made the visit worthwhile. I went to Dr .Housner about a shoulder injury. While waiting I had an x ray of my shoulder. I told the tech I knew I had arthritis there, Dr. Housner comfirmed ( also never showed me the x rays) what I already knew and had no interest in hearing the real problem. I mentioned it again and he ignored me. Maybe spent 15 minutes with me. Don't waste your time seeing this Housner person.

I have been in pain for 2 decades, going through numerous Doctors. I was referred here because my XRAYS are great. All that was done was, I was put through the ringer (pain) TWICE (xrays and short physical exam) with NO help. All I was told, was there was nothing else that could be done and I have to wait 3 months before meeting my PCP for the first time. No recommendations elsewhere, no MRI, no explanation, NOTHING just kicked me out in more than than I arrived in. Thanks for Nothing.
