Good doctor, staff needs to improve

Myself and both kids have all been patients of Dr McCann. He really listens to your issues and provides solutions to help fix your problems. He is fantastic.

Dr. McCann changed my daily life for the better in a 20 min appointment. Foot issue resolved and care plan in place. Very friendly and efficient staff and Doc is 10/10. Highly recommend.

A few years ago Dr. McCann helped me with foot issues! He completely helped me and I was able to get back to normal with zero pain!! Just yesterday he did foot surgery on my husband and opened his office at 6am on a Saturday to help my husband manage his pain! What a Spirit of Excellence Dr. McCann has and what a caring heart he has for his patients!! My husband is retired from LAFD and has had 10 surgeries due to various injuries from the job and we have NEVER had a doctor help us as much as Dr. McCann! So grateful to find such a great dr. If I could give Dr. McCann more than 5 stars I would. I am so beyond happy I went to him! He is one of the most patient/ caring doctors I've ever had. I was extremely scared to have the surgery, but after speaking with Dr. McCann I felt totally comfortable. The first week after my bunion surgery, I was in a lot of pain and he said to call anytime I had questions regarding the surgery. Anytime I'd called, he'd pick up his phone no matter what time or day it was. I've never had a doctor be as reliable as him. What I really loved is the fact he didn't rush the healing process either. He wanted to make sure I was 100% okay to get back on my feet again. I highly recommend going him. You won't regret it! :) If I could give Dr. McCann more than 5 stars I would. What an amazing doctor Dr. Jan McCann is!!! He has helped me in tremendous ways AND he just performed surgery on my husband's foot and opened up his office for us at 6am on a Saturday to help my husband manage his pain!! Unheard of now a days! Dr. McCann knew exactly what to do for my for my foot pain. Two shots and I feel so much better.

So my first visit here, I saw Dr. McCann and he was very nice. Took good care of me. On my second visit, he was unavailable so instead I saw Dr. Yelzer. He was great and was able to get a proper boot for me for my busted ankle. Saw Dr. Yelzer again today. He is very kind and patient, as well as thorough. My appointment was quick and I didn't have to wait long in the waiting room. Definitely reccomend this place. Fantastic staff, very friendly. He was Awesome!!!! My sixteen year old had ingrown toenails and I must say Great bedside manner! Before we knew it he was done. Super sweet and Highly recommend him.

Dr. Jan McCann is One of the best Podiatrist in OC. He is so kind and professional, and spends time to explain everything.

I fell recently and hurt my foot. He puts you at ease and as an RN I know he comes highly recommended. His bedside manner is great and so gives painless steroid injections.

Excelent podiatrist! !!! I had an ingrown toenail that was bothering me for a long time and I didn't take care of it because I was afraid of the procedure that had to be done. I had a previous experience with another doctor and the pain was horrible and didn't solve the problem. With this doctor, the pain was minimal and the procedure was fast. I've been in to see Dr. McCann on three occasions through the summer of 2014 at his location next to the hospital and Laguna Hills Mall, and my overall experience was negative. I've rarely felt compelled to write a review for a Dr. on the internet (this is actually the only time I've posted negatively on the internet), but this experience was so bad I had to warn you to seek help elsewhere. I would consider myself easy to please, but this was BAD. After experiencing foot pain related to plantar fasciitis, I went to him to seek help. During each visit, it seemed like he was trying to rush me through. I tried to ask him questions. During one visit, he was in such a hurry, he stood at the door frame waiting for me to finish my sentences as if he was eager to move on to the next patient. He informed me that I needed $500 partial, not full-foot "shoe inserts". Upon wearing them, my feet felt worse, my left foot felt off, like they were molded improperly. It didn't feel right. He did tell me to come back in if they were causing me problems. After experiencing irritation, I came back in again and he readjusted them. They still felt off, particularly in my left foot insert for my shoes. I had to come in three separate times to have them adjusted until he finally filed the entire bottoms of the inserts. At this point, I wore them again and my feet literally began to feel worse than before. My heels began to feel this stabbing pain that I hadn't had prior. At this point, I did not wish to see Dr. Mccan again. I called his office and spoke with his office manager, Genie, to let her know that I wished to bring in the inserts to have them refund my insurance so my insurance could purchases a different pair with a different podiatrist. I figured they'd at least split the difference, knowing my insurance would not pay to have me get inserts again. She said I needed to come back in and have another visit (a fourth visit... for the same issue). I told her felt uncomfortable seeing Dr. McCann again, and she expressed no apologies and her tone became really mean. I truly did feel uncomfortable. To try to make her understand, I asked her, if she was me, would she return to a podiatrist who made my feet hurt worse? She showed no sympathy and seemed to become angry. I was truly surprised by her detachment from the field of medicine: helping people. Her tone seemed bitter, lacking any warmth or sympathy. You'd think that an office manger/secretary would be cordial... I'm not sure if she hated her job, but she literally shocked me. She adamantly refused to provide any sort of refund. I asked her if Dr. McCann would. She said again firmly stated "NO", and said it was Dr. McCann's policy not to. I told her I could not afford paying hundreds of dollars for shoe inserts elsewhere (since my insurance would only pay once), and told her I was considering commenting on yelp, and she said "go ahead". You can tell his staff is not happy. During one visit, as the door stood open, I could hear them gossiping about an elderly woman client who had called in. They were making fun of what she always said, and how frequently she called in. This was saddening. I know they get a lot of elderly clients, because of their proximity to leisure world, but that was pretty low disparaging a senior citizen who probably couldn't even help it, and to do so in the middle of the office, knowing that clients might hear them. To me it feels like they are more there to make paychecks, and podiatry is a means by which they can do so. Genie would not be at such a place of rancor if she was not dissatisfied with herself or her job. Usually peoples' attitudes are reflections of deeper things going on. I've met people outside of medicine who have had more compassion than her. This is one case. Dr. McCann wasn't a jerk or anything, but actions speak louder than words. Their actions show they aren't in it to help people; they're in it for something else. I'd highly recommend to take your business elsewhere and protect your feet from further harm. Excellent doctor and does amazing work Not happy that my surgery is delayed till 1PM tomorrow. I can't go that long with out eating. I was originally suppose to have surgery for the Jones Fracture at 12 noon. Even that was stretching how long I could go without eating anything from the night before. Very unhappy with the delay. Dr McCann and his staff were excellent, very friendly and really helped me with my foot condition. The atmosphere in the office was warm and welcoming, highly recommend to other with foot problems in the mission viejo area.
