My mom had a rare type of cancer that many doctors do not know much about. There hasn’t been a lot of procedures done for this cancer either. We were extremely nervous and devastated when we heard the news. My mom lives 3 hours away, and I live here in Des Moines, so they made her appointments all in the same day through her surgeons that were going to assist in the surgery! It was very convenient and not so stressful for us. I was shocked when we went to the appointments. They had a plan set immediately and had her scheduled for surgery in the next couple weeks. It’s like they already knew her! They had everything acknowledged about her, her medical needs but also her personality and what she enjoyed in life, who she was! We were expecting a long, stressful journey ahead of us. They answered every question we had, and gave us respect and compassion the whole time. The surgery was long, but the nurse was always updating us. Dr. Franko even came to update us towards the end of the surgery. With all the risks involved with this complicated and non common surgery, he did not cause any! He actually saved an organ that was planned to be taken out. And she thankfully doesn’t have to get anymore chemo because he was so successful! My mom is doing amazing. She was in the hospital after for only a week, with no food and just fluids. Her whole abdomen to her chest was in bandages. But she was still in the greatest mood! Dr. Franko and his team would come by each morning and check in on her. It’s only been 2 months since the surgery. She can walk around now, cook, and do what she loves. Soon, she will be back on her feet to be a Zumba dance teacher again! I am amazed at how fast she healed. I cannot thank Dr. Franko and his team enough. My mom is my best friend and you guys truly deserve the world for everything you’ve done for us.

My mom just had surgery to remove a cancerous lymph node with Dr. Franko and we are blown away with his expertise and her recovery. He managed his way around a nerve that held her voice box, her carotid artery, and her jugular to remove the lymph node and with many risks involved, he performed with not one issue. As a fearful family waiting for our patient to be done with surgery, Dr. Franko even finished his procedure in one hour less than planned while his nurse provided updates throughout the procedure. Dr. Franko is an outstanding doctor. He literally saved my life. He is extremely competent and puts the needs of his patients first.

Dr Franko is a brilliant surgeon. He was my husband's surgeon. Such accuracy and knowledge.

I was told I had Pancreatic Cancer & I went to Dr. Jan Franko in Sept 2018 & he told me & my family in easy terms what he could & would do, if he did the surgery. We liked him real well & let him do the 7 & half hour surgery. Everybody including nurses could not believe how well I come thru the surgery at 71 yrs of age. He was almost sure he got 99% of the head of pancreas with mass in it. In Oct. 2019 my Chemo Dr. said I was cancer Free. Between them all I have blessed with good Dr.'s & Nurses!!!

My husband was referred to Dr Franko because he had a mass on his pancreas. Dr Franko told us that it could be one of three things: cancer, cancer or cancer. After a biopsy turns out it was NOT cancer. Will NEVER go back to him. He is very rude, does not explain anything and his staff are just as bad.

Saw Dr Franko, went to Mayo for a second opinion. Very thankful I went with Dr Franko. Went exactly as he said it would. Could not be happier.

Truly cares about you and your family. Every patient deserves someone like Dr. Franco to make you feel like you are the only patient he has. A true professional!

I appreciate his bedside manner, which includes explaining things in a fashion where I understand it, and he is on top of the latest techniques. I went to another well known facility that didn't even recommend the treatment plan that Dr. Franko did. So that made me feel like he truly dug in and found all of the options out there that he could for me. I also appreciate the kindness of his staff who are very sweet and compassionate and returned my calls promptly.
