Dr. James Schlenker is, hands down, one of the most brilliant, gentle, kind, compassionate, exceptionally skilled surgeons that I have had the pleasure of both working with, as a nurse, and also having been his patient. I was so anxious about my surgery, but everyone, from his PA, residents, and nursing staff to Dr. Schlenker himself instantly put me at ease, answered my many questions in detail, making sure everything was thoroughly explained, and ultimately helped me feel so safe and validated. Dr. Schlenker, from both a professional and patient standpoint, is also a fierce patient advocate. Dr. James Schlenker is one of the best surgeons at Virginia Mason. He performed my surgery very well. I admire his confidence and professionalism. Thank you, Dr. Schlenker, for all that you do. I am loyal to Virginia Mason.

My son and I have both had surgery with Dr. Schlenker. He is a fabulous doctor who clearly cares about his patients. He explains everything and, in my case, before surgically repairing my finger/hand, he wanted to see if it would heal on its own. It did not and so he has repaired it. White I'm still recovering, it's already working better. Previously he did minor surgery on my wrist, which was terrific as it solved my issue. He performed surgery on my son's neck and the scar is barely visible. The support staff is terrific as well.

I cannot thank Dr. Schlenker enough for repairing my broken wrist last December. Even though he wanted a more extensive repair I opted only for reset and pins. He did such an amazing job I have at least 90% mobility restored. He was a true blessing to me.

Always give you his honest opinion. Love the staff and how they all present themselves.

Referred for removal of cancerous mole. James Schlenker restored my faith that their are good, caring and understanding doctors. From the minute he walked in, he made me feel comfortable by explaining everything he would be doing and what I would be feeling. Made me feel at ease during the process and in my asking questions. Really liked him. You should feel very comfortable with a referral to him. His team and his relationship with them - outstanding.

He was great. Another ortho surgeon told me I needed surgery. Dr. Schlenker looked at the thumb and xrays, examined me and told me not to do surgery. I was healed up in 3 months and never needed to have surgery. Superb manner as well. Highly recommended.

Outstanding. Gentle, caring, highly skilled. Beautiful work. After another surgeon told me I wouldn’t ever be able to move my thumb joint again Dr. Schlenker said I would and I now can. Excellent support staff and hand therapists. I couldn’t be any happier with the way I was treated and feel very fortunate to have found Dr. Schlenker.
