James David Callahan

I have had two Back Fusion surgery's by Dr. Callahan and his staff. Both surgery's went great! His office staff are very compassionate and thorough. I would highly recommend Dr. Callahan for your Back problems.

I have had several back surgeries with Dr Callahan, he is very knowledgeable, personable and caring. I can't praise him enough for his Expertise and Bedside Manners. I truly don't know where I would be without him.

I live in NW Indiana and I met with a total of 4 doctors before I selected Dr. Callahan. I met with doctors at the University of Chicago and in Munster, Indiana as well as Dr. Callahan. Dr. Callahan exudes, confidence, compassion, and patience. He took the time to walk me through exactly what was causing my back pain / sciatic pain and never pressured me to have surgery. I chose to have surgery, and I chose Dr. Callahan to perform that surgery. 8 weeks removed from the day of surgery, I remain completely satisfied with the result.

Dr Callahan is a great Dr he done 2 infusions on me one on my neck and one on my lower lumbar I am out of pain my back was so bad my left foot dropped I am happy to be pain free and have the use of my foot back

1st off staff is very attentive to needs. had to work with a very slow Ins. Co. for approving my surgery. Didn't know until days before the scheduled surgery. Arrangements with the hospital and after-care were made in advance. Dr. Callahan was very patient with answering all my questions, and explaining X-rays & MRI scans on screen. Explaining what he was going to do in surgery to correct my condition. Never have I felt rushed while talking to the doctor or NP. I felt at ease & respected at all times Highly recommend Dr. Callahan & his office.

Dr. Callahan is Awesome and his team has been Absolutely Wonderful and Caring! I rave about this whole team and the nurses after surgery at Community! You all Rock!

The office lady I spoke with was uncaring. She refused to schedule an appointment even though my doctor sent a referral. She refused to let the doctor know what the circumstances were concerning why I have chosen him to do the surgery on my back. Dr. Callahan came highly rate by friends. They say that he is a Christian man very caring. This lady was very uncaring. My insurance changed and no longer could see one of the doctors that I had seen in the past. The other back doctor she told me I had to go back to has refused to see me because I didn’t lose 54 pounds in the 3 months like he told me to do. I am just at a lost why she can treat potential patients like this. If she did this to me how many more people is she going to do this to? Does Dr Callahan even know that she is doing this? I really believe if she explained to him why I couldn’t go back to the other doctor he would see me but she isn’t going to tell him. So I will continue to suffer in excruciating pain in my hip, have constant pins and needles going down my leg. Just unbelievable how in caring someone would be. Dr. James Callahan has performed 2 spine surgeries for me. He is a gifted surgeon who is kind, caring and knowledgeable. I highly recommend him.

I could not wish for a more perfect doctor. Dr. Callahan is the most awesome back surgeon you will find. He's the only one I trust my spine issues with. I've had 2 back surgeries with the last one being 2 weeks ago. He is such a nice person and his entire staff is wonderful. I highly recommend Dr. Callahan

Yes! Dr. Callan is amazing. Before my first appointment he had taken the time to look at scans/records from ten years ago on MyChart. He's very caring and explains the situation and options well.

My first visit was great. Dr. Callahan took time to discuss my MRI results in detail and he answered all of my questions. He did not rush through my visit. The office staff was amazing and very kind.

Dr Callahan cares about his patients. He gave a thorough explanation of my treatment, surgery, and post op care for my cervical disc surgery.My referring doctor was able to get me an appointment in a timely manner. Since I was coming from out of town, the office worked with me to make my appointments later in the day. Dr Callahan explained my X-rays and MRI so I could make an informed decision. I did have surgery C4-5, C5-6 and am doing well. Highly recommend.

I would recommend dr Callaghan I believe hes very knowledgeable. But the thing is after seeing me and telling me my spinal degeneration was becoming advanced he would never see me again. When i called to make a appt they said that he wouldnt see me. I have no idea why and im in need of help. I can't say enough about Dr. Callahan...as a surgeon, as a caring person, etc. He & his staff are amazing!!!

This man is amazing. I had broken hardware from a previous 2level fusion. In an extreme amount of pain. The 1 at fusion was extremely painful also. Dr Callahan went in and replaced all my hardware and anchored it in a way that I would fuse this time. I came out of surgery feeling like a million bucks. I had a little incision pain but that was all. Dr Callahan has a definite God given talent. I would give him 100 stars if I could This man is amazing. Dr. Callahan was amazing! I am nearly pain free in my right hip and leg after surgery. Prior, I was using a cane and walker and had constant pain. He was very professional and I didn't have to wait a long time to see him or have my surgery.

Dr. C is the best , he has brought me back from near death on one occasion and saved me from being a quadraplegic on another.I highly recommend Dr. Callahan to anyone who has back or neck trauma you won't be disappointed.

If not for Dr Callihan performing surgery on my back, I would definatly be wheelchair bound. He is kind and listened to me, when other drs refused to help me!

Dr Callahan operated on me in 2016. I lived with lower back pain for 15-20 years. I am completely pain free and have had no residual issues since. I think the world of Dr. Callahan. He basically gave me back my life. Ralph Lumm Patient

Dr Callahan is an excellent surgeon! I had a major back surgery and happy with how i was treated and cared for. He has a great bedside manner.

This Dr. is an amazing person. He truly cares for his patients. I had almost given up with all the problems I was having with my neck, and then I was sent to him. I could never thank him enough for everything. I have never met such a caring doctor before. I recommend him to everyone!!

Dr. Callahan is a wonderful Neurosurgeon. At my first meeting Dr. Callahan gave me a feeling of full confidence in his abilities and I went into surgery with no fear at all. The pain I had for so long was gone upon waking and I pondered, why did I wait so long! I would recommend Dr. Callahan to anyone facing back and spine surgery, he is kind, caring, attentive to your pain and he knows his stuff! It has been a week since surgery and I feel great! Why would you want anyone else, he's the best!
