About James R Bellor JR.
Reviews for James R Bellor JR.
I would give this place zero stars if I could. I called them months ago when I relocated from Virginia to Maryland and asked if they were accepting new patients. They said YES, but that the doctor would need to review my medical records from my previous Rheumatologist before taking me on as a patient. Fine, whatever. So I get my records transferred. Takes my doctor weeks to get them transferred because that’s just how things work these days. Fine, I get it. About three months later, today, I get a call from Bellor’s office that he has reviewed my records and he is not accepting new patients at this time. So I ask the lady, is this as of this week that he isn’t accepting new patients or has this been for a few months? She said for several months he hasn’t been accepting new patients. Then why are you telling people that you are and wasting our time?? I have gone 6+ months without treatment and am excruciating pain… but I knew, once Bellor read my chart, I’ll be able to get an appointment scheduled. Now I am back at square one. If you aren’t currently a patient of his, DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME. It’s hard enough to find a specialist these days because they are all booked out months in advance. Just wish they would have been transparent from the beginning.

Doc that actually listens to me,and open minded.
Doesn't have patience to carefully listen to patient's concerns. I went to his office for the treatment of osteoporosis. He denies any research/studies that may reflect negatively on prolia or any other alternative treatments when there is tons of data on how much these can hurt - seriously hurt - including fractures in thigh, heart infections. Doesn't want to spend time to take each patient individually and work out the best option(s) for them. Very combative when I tried to ask him to do just that - consider my case and my history and help me figure out what the best way to get off Prolia would be - did not want to do that at all. If you just need to go get injection, he is fine. But if you want to discuss your situation, find another doctor. Doesn't have patience to carefully listen to patient's concerns. He has been my doctor for many many years. I drive almost an hour just to see him! He is compassionate, caring, and understands how and what patients go through. He goes out of his way constantly to help his patients feel better. He is an experienced doctor and you can see so from the moment you meet him. His office staff is friendly and efficient. I cannot recommend Dr. Bellor more. He has been my doctor for many many years. I drive almost an hour just to see him! Always willing to listen and does not rush you. He answers all my questions no matter how trivial. I've been seeing hin for over 10 years. I dread tne day he retires. He's always on my aide and willing to help with insurance issues. He has a grear bedside manner which is something lacking in new doctors. He firmly believes that the patient and doctor are the best people to decide type of treatment and medicine that works without much intrusion from the insurance company, especially in regards to pain management. Dr. Bellor has been my Dr. for 40 years. Anyone who gave him a negative review was probably someone who wanted to see a Dr. one time and expected him to give them a complete write up for disability. He will not do that. His call center does need some work but he is, without a doubt, the best rheumatologist in the tristate area.
I have been a patient for over 20 years. I love that Dr. Bellor takes the time to explain changes in my disorder and makes sure I understand different variables. I am never dismissed and he takes his time going over medications.I have read the negative reviews and have to say I do not believe half of it and if you are seeking disability papers after one visit or pain medication before being confirmed to have a disorder than you picked the wrong doctor. He is not rude, he is factual. I have been a patient for over 20 years. I love that Dr. Bellor takes the time to explain changes in my disorder and makes sure I understand different variables. Awful, did not even have me fill out medical forms, gave him test results on a few tests; and he blew them off. Then was rude and condescending. He just wanted to throw medicine and get me out of the office. Even if he felt that he did not agree with the tests, he could have rerun them, and or run other tests. The absolute worst experience I have ever had. He has no compassion nor respect for the patient.

Dr. Bellor is a doctor who will listen and take his time with you. I highly recommend him.
Dr. Bellor is one of the few doctors in my experience who took time to listen to my concerns and work with multiple lifestyle and health issues to determine an appropriate treatment plan. I was pleased that he did not seem to be unduly influenced by the pharmaceutical industry.
At all costs avoid this doctor like the plague. I had a terrible experience. I’ll start off with my first visit after being referred to him by my primary. Based on things I was experiencing my primary ordered an ANA test. That test returned positive at a titter of 1/160. Sitting in his office and going over the numerous symptoms I was experiencing it was if I was talking to a wall. He down played and found an excuse for every one of my symptoms. Many of which he did not notate. This irritated me to no end. My vitals weren’t even taken but yet he indicated that they had. I was adamant that something was wrong and he was adamant that nothing I mentioned to him indicated that I had an Auto Immune Disease. I asked him to explain my positive ANA result. His explanation was not only false but absurd. There were physical symptoms from discoid lumpus that Dr. Bellor did not recognize. At the end of my “examination” he wrote up blood work. I left his office extremely frustrated and angry. I’d never been treated like that in my entire life. He treated me as if I was some silly woman misinformed about her body. After getting my blood work done I requested a copy of my test results be sent to me the moment they were sent to Dr. Bellor. I then immediately searched for another Rheumatologist and made an appointment for a second opinion. When my test results came in I expected to receive a call from Dr. Bellor but he never contacted me to discuss my results. He did however post half of my test results. He posted just the results I was normal in. None of the results that I was abnormal in were posted. I sent my test results to the second Rheumatologist based off those results and my examination, additional tests were ordered. In conclusion not only did this Rheumatologist recognize the physical symptom of discoid lupus I was also told that all of my other symptoms were valid as well. I cried because finally someone was listening to me and I wasn’t made to feel as if I was imagining things. To this day, I have yet to hear back from Dr. Bellor in regards to my test results. Took the time to develop a complete picture. Spent very close to an hour collecting information and providing explanations. A very thorough and meticulous physician. I recommend him highly.
After years of pain, fatigue and many Lyme's tests, I found a doctor that recognized, what later was diagnosed as Fibromyalgia. This doctor at Patient First, whom I am so grateful for, immediately referred me to a rheumatologist in Baltimore. I had the WORST experience here. Since this post is about Dr. Bellor, I will not go into the details of this first doctor, but I was feeling very discouraged after only one appointment and one anlter phone call to this doctor. I called my internist to see if they could reccomended a Rheumi-------> I introduce to you, Dr. Bellor. I can only echo what the other positive posts say about him: Kind & Compasionate, Patient, Amazing Listener, Evidence Based Practice (studies), Respectful, Willing To Go "Back to the Board" When Unsuccessful with Medication Regimine, DOES NOT Make you Feel like You Are Crazy (everyone says "it's all in your head"). The list goes on. I am still working out what "works for me", however I always want to give Dr. Bellor a huge hug at the end of every apppointment! Go see him and you will not be disappointed. Dr. Bellor is amazing. He really listens and works hard to help find the right treatment based on the person not just the ailment. There are not many doctors out there that will return calls on the weekends. Hands down the best doctor I've ever had!
Dr. Bellor has been my doctor for years. I even moved away for two years and came back and wouldn't think about seeing anyone else. I trust him and I feel like he really listens. We work through my medications together finding what works and what doesn't. He even refers if there is another problem. He is without a doubt the best doctor. He is caring and hardworking. He works with you and explains everything. He is extremely knowledgeable and he keeps up to date with current studies. I absolutely will not go to another doctor because I trust him. I can't say enough kind things about him. His bedside manner is one of the best I have encountered. Dr. Bellor has been my doctor for years. I have spent a long time looking for a doctor who listens and even lets me try what I want 1st. He is amazing and caring. Staff is excellent. Couldn't ask for a friendlier environment. They really care.
Excellent & caring Doctor. I've been seeing him for ~15 years, & he has kept my arthritis under control with leading edge methods & medications. Prescribes what is needed, but not excessive. (He still has plans of what to do next if anything stops working.) Very pleasant & personable, with good memory for me & my history. Involves me in decisions. He reminds me of an old-fashioned family Dr. in demeanor, who is also an up-to-date specialist in knowledge and skills. Couldn't ask for more!

This doctor made me feel as if what I was experiencing was a fragment of my imagination. He did not recognize symptoms of discoid lupus and did not properly document my condition. When my blood work returned it clearly showed I had a chronic Auto Immune Disease. Doctor Bellor never contacted me to discuss these findings. In the end I made an appointment with another Rheumatologist that was skilled enough to properly diagnose and treat me. Avoid this doctor at all costs.
