From CeRias mother in pgh pa. She has Tourette he is wonderful!! She is doing well

I saw this doc many many years ago when he was still in Pittsburgh at 1 Allegheny. He still rates as one of my worst doctors. I presented with migraine headaches and unexplained muscle tremors. My 1st couple of appointments consisted of some basic questions, remarks about weight gain, and the same eyes tests. Eventually I was offered an antidepressant. Looking back, I’m appalled. Why an anti-depressant and not one of the many migraine medicines? Why not anything for tremors? Why wasn’t more testing done? Why, bc he couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me so he gave me the ol’ ‘it’s all in your head’. Even in my teens I knew something was wrong with him’. I remember him explaining to me essentially the placebo effect. He said that there were studies done that showed that if a doctor just gave a patient something like chocolate every week, sometimes patients got better even without medicine, just bc the doctor was paying attention to them. He even tried to scare me away from legitimate testing by telling me about the ‘big scary needles’ they would use for testing (he was referring to an emg) Now that I’m an adult with failing health, I’m even more appalled by his actions. How many other children were left undiagnosed bc of him? What doc would scare a child away from legitimate testing? What doc would say ‘my (15 mins of) attention is enough’. Even if he’s changed with the times, why risk it.
