Very professional, I had a great experience and a fast recovery.

Got me in, actually touched me to evaluate the issue and explained the procedure. To boot, Dr was personable as we shared a common interest.

The appointment was on time. The doctor took his time to explain and discuss the treatment plan. Needed extra time to complete first visit forms.

I felt like I was not wanted there and won't go there again

Dr. Comstock was professional and personable. He explained that unless I develop symptoms, we can leave my gallbladder alone.

My visit was a hospital follow up from January 19, 2022 and wasn’t seen until February 3, 2022. My visit was supposed to be in one to two days after the hospital. My visit was extremely rushed by the doctor. I was barely allowed to speak. Was only allowed yes or no responses. Was instructed to call the doctor in two days if we did not hear from him. As of February 13,2022 we have not heard from Dr Comstock. I left at least two messages myself to follow up and have not received any follow up calls from Dr Comstock. Great surgeon! Highly recommended!

Very efficient and knowledgeable. Thanks for taking care of me and doing what was necessary for me to feel better. Fast and did what was totally necessary.

After surgery back in my room Dr. Comstock came in I asked him what he did, how it went and the prognosis. He responded "I told you this in recovery" then turn and left. I do not remember being in recovery. He doesn't answer questions nor does he seem to care about his patients once the surgery is over and is discharged from the hospital.

worst surgeon ever....the neglect from this guy is unreal...highly recommend finding different doctor....having him do my surgries was the biggest mistake

I had my second surgery with doctor Comstock; I am extremely happy with doctor Comstock’s work. I never experienced any pain after either of my surgeries.

This guy, can’t say doctor, is a joke! He took out my gallbladder when I actually had a collapsed vertebra. He would not come to my room before or after surgery. Got his $$ and took off. I went to another hospital the next day and was told about my back, got cemented and good as new, except now I will take germ medication for the rest of my life.

I am very happy with Dr Comstock. He is very efficient. I appreciate that he is extremely busy and that his time with me can be very short, but I would not wish for anyone else to perform my surgery. I only wish that he could be my PCP. I am very appreciative that I am under his care. Thank you Dr. Comstock.

This dr had no idea who I was or why I had made an appt. Though he was a referral from an affiliated dr he claimed he had no access to shared medical reports. His staff could not even tell me how to find his office. Gave me wrong directions twice. A complete waste of time. Don't bother

Dr Comstock was excellent, very professional, kept me informed at every step in the process without ever coming across as arrogant or patronizing. If you have a choice of a surgeon I can give him an unqualified 5 star recommendation.

I have been a patient of Dr Comstock for the last 18mos, and would highly recommend him to anyone needing a surgeon. I've been through four major surgeries and numerous hospital stays. Dr Comstock makes it a point to visit and follow up every day. Not all doctors do that. He keeps you up to date as to what to expect in your plan of care. Also his office staff is very accommodating. Bea, she works the front office, is really nice and always a pleasure to deal with. Sent an elderly woman home from the hospital with the exact same life-threatening symptoms that brought her there with the need for emergency surgery. No treatment. No follow up. No listening to questions. No explanation. Only a dismissive hand wave and "you'll figure it out". Her prognosis is that this very strong, previously healthy, woman will die without the surgery but apparently her life isn't worth the bother. I was scheduled for a out patient hernia surgery with mesh on January 29, 2018. I woke up from Anesthesia with no pain meducation. I was in so much pain. The nurse said they tried four different medication and none worked. I was then admitted inpatient for pain control. The following morning Dr Comstock came into my room and was,very rude. No bedside manners. He asked how I felt and I let him know I was,still in a lot of pain. I was getting morphine every 4 hours,and it was 1/2 hour past due. The nurse came in to give me the morphine and he told her not to give me anything else for pain. He also ripped the abdominal binder open and ripped off the incision bandages very roughly. He then said I was going home. He,sent me home with dilaudid pills for three days. However, everytime I took one my oxygen level would drop to 72. I called my pharmacist and she suggested taking a 1/2 pill to see if that would work. Again oxygen levels still dropped. The pharmacist then said to call Dr. Comstock and ask for Tylenol with codeine as it would not be as strong. I called his office and was told he was not giving me anything for pain. A week later I went for my followup appt and he was literally in the room with me 20 seconds. He asked how I felt. I told him my groin felt like it was on fire and my left testicle hurt. He said, "Your fine and your going back to work next week with a lifting restriction of no more than 25 lbs". Update: almost 8 months after surgery and still in daily pain from the botched surgery. Please save yourself from the agony of pain and find a different surgeon. Update: 1 year and 4 months post surgery I am still in pain at the hernia repair site, left testicle, and now pain going down my leg. I have been to a urologist and was told it is due to nerve damage from the surgery in January 2018. I am now going to a Pain Management Specialist. I have had a Ilioinguinal Nerve Block and received 5 days of complete pain relief. I am scheduled for a second block in the next week or so to see if I can get more relief. Since I did get relief from the injection, even if only short term it is proof that it is a damaged nerve. Again this all started immediately after surgery by Howard Comstock. Dr. Is always rushed, had not reviewed my chart sent over by referring physician. Said oh I’ll review your CT scan later, asked me the Same question several times. Kept going over an issue I was not there for and then sent me for an MRI. I was unable to ask much as he was in a hurry to leave my room. Fast forward to a week after my MRI, I called office and received a call back Dr. again very rushed and when I asked a question said call the office of it gets worse for an appointment instead of listening and answering my questions. The office staff was polite and on time. There were two medical students Sam and Ham who showed concern and patience with my elderly father. Dr. Comstock was rather abrupt and curt with my dad who is 84 with a hearing loss. I would have liked him to have taken in concern elderly people remembering they are not a savvy or up to date on procedure lingo. Doctor and entire surgical team performed extremely well. Robotic right inguinal hernia surgery. Highly recommend to those considering.

I had a very nice visit. The student Dr. was thorough and had a very good bedside manner. Dr. Comstock told me what he was doing as he was doing it. Spoke in layman's terms so I understood everything he was saying. I will be back to see him again. Thank y'all for the present visit.

Dr Howard Comstock is The Best, most caring surgeon that i have ever met!! He does hos beat to help you in anyway he can! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND him for Any of your General surgery needs!!

Dr. Comstock has to be one of the best general surgeons in Tucson! I was admitted to St. Mary’s Hospital and was required to have a cholecystectomy ( gallbladder removal ) surgery .. Dr. Comstock was very informative and professional, He spent the time to listen to me and he answered all of my questions.. he was very kind, polite, understanding, and knowledgeable through my hospital stay and follow-up appointment...1 week after post surgery I realized that I had no bruising at all from the surgery site and I was doing great.. I was in really good hands with Dr. Comstock. I trust him and his work.. If you or anyone you know needs surgery, you should choose this doctor! Thank you so much Dr. Comstock... After my surgery I went back to see Dr Howard Comstock, I received quick service at the office, Dr show up to follow up my wounds and asked how I’m feeling . Everything is healing good I’m feeling much better No more gallbladder pain . So grateful to my Dr Howard Comstock. I’m recommending him if you need gastroenterologist care. Dr. Comstock has no compassion, he is not professional, very rude. He does not have a bedside manner. Shows no interest how the patient feels & he talks over you. Horrible doctor, don’t waste your time. I feel the same way about his staff.!!

An idiot! Reason why my Father passed. Didn’t want to listen to other oncologists about putting dye to point out cancer in lymph nodes and ended up killing his patient. Worse doctor, should be stripped of his degree

Dr. Comstock needs to improve his bedside manner. I can honestly say of all doctor's that I have gone to, his was the worst when I was in the hospital. Gives patient no instruction or time to listen and learn what the patient is trying to say or ask!!!!

Pretty amazing. Of course while ill and/or in recovery I'd rather have bought it in theater (as they say for operating table). I'd didn't relate this to him unless, along with surgical skills the Doctor is telepathic as well. But seriously, one should really appreciate how ready, careful, available and attention to detail and nonjudgmental a person to have working on people (in a sick, weakened, obstreperous and pessimistic state). Always pleasant, and never (AFAIK) backs off of conditions that on first glance may seem untenable. Also, he brought in supportive staff as needed. Thanks HC, Nathan

I’ve been calling this office for a month trying to get an appointment for surgery.they just ignore people I have been in serious pain and no return calls at all. If they cared so much they would address people’s needs and concerns. Very poor customer service

Denies post surgical conplications. Had gallbladder removed and developed pancreatitis. Had to see another dr to have a blood test to treat the pancreatitis. He also touched my body after i said No. Extremely traumatic.

Poor bedside manners. Rushes patients out of the office. My follow up visit was literally 20 seconds. Very rude and rushed to get me discharge from being inpatient after he did an outpt procedure on me.

Dr. Comstock seems to be an OK guy. But don't expect good communication. During the very brief period of time for which you see him, you will feel like he is rushing to get out the door and get on to his next patient. If you want to feel informed about what is going on with your surgery, you will need to enter each meeting with him fully prepared with a list of what you want to talk about, because he will not initiate that effort. In fact, even if you are prepared, expect dodged questions.

When I arrived as an emergency patient at NW Medical Center, I was told I had appendicitis and to expect surgery first thing in the morning. I was told this around 10 p.m. Dr. Comstock came to the hospital and had me in the operating room by 11 p.m. I am very grateful to him and believe him to be an excellent surgeon.
