Dr. Houston Eccleston Holmes III

Dr. Holmes is a very caring and knowledgeable physician. I felt blessed to have him on my side.

He's very personable and answers each and every question that I ask. He explains any lab work that I don't understand. He seems to be genuinely concerned about me whenever I visit.

This was a 15 year check up for my cancer issues. He took time, and research, before proceeding with my treatment initially, and his care and concern was always assuring. Besides, his grandmother told me that I could not adopt him!!!

This was an overdue follow up visit with lab work.

I went to see Dr. Holmes for my six month cancer checkup. Everything went as expected with no increase in cancer signs. Dr. Holmes was very nice and interested as he always is. He is always good to discuss my results and an answer any questions.

Dr. Holmes is a wonderful doctor and I am so glad he is supervising my multiple myeloma recovery. Dr. Holmes is a positive, upbeat oncology specialist and a caring person. In my book he is the best of the best when it comes to dealing with myeloma and chemo therapy.

Dr. Holmes is a great physician. I am so happy he is supervising my multiple myeloma journey. I trust his judgement 100%. He is the best of the best when it comes to treating cancers of the blood and I feel that he is truly a caring, positive person with the expertise and experience to make the best medical decisions on my behalf.

Dr. Holmes is simply the best. He is thorough, leaves you with no unanswered question and you would be hard pressed to find another doctor that could exceed his "Bedside Manner."

Dr Holmes is always so patient and caring whenever I see him. He takes the time to listen and answer any questions I might have and I would highly recommend him to family and friends who need Oncology care. He’s awesome!!

I do not recommend Dr. Holmes who cared for my friend for many years. But at the end, when the cancer transformed into something more serious, Dr. Holmes cared very little for his patient. After twice reading blood tests incorrectly and ordering the wrong chemo cocktail, he sent patient to MD Anderson. Several weeks later my friend was dead. Most upsetting, Dr. Holmes never called or followed up with his patient who loved him for years and had 100% confidence in his care. Dr. Holmes and his staff at Texas Oncology are great. He is knowledgeable, compassionate and very upfront about your condition and how to treat. He tells you the way it is but is compassionate at the same time. I totally trust him.

Dr. Holmes is competent, compassionate and very upfront on your medical situation. He treated a friend of mine for Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma back in 2003 and she highly recommended him to me. I am now seeing him for the same thing and think equally as highly about him as she did. He doesn't beat around the bush, he's direct about what it's going to take - but at the same time compassionate. Dr. Holmes is just a great guy. I really enjoy chatting with him. He's a great listener, and always offers support and encouragement. Such joyful energy! The emotional part of cancer is equal to the medical part. He pays equal attention to both.

Go see Texas Oncology. their team will give you the best personal care! Dr. Holmes is so knowledgeable and engaging. And, put me on the right meds from the very beginning with amazing results.

This man is the best

Dr. Holmes was thorough, sensitive, and spent as much time with me as I needed to understand my diagnosis and his recommendations. He knew quickly what he wanted to do for my treatment and acted on it immediately, for which I was extremely grateful.

Dr Holmes is a great Dr and has lots of compassion for his patients. He really cares about their health. He treated me for ALL and really cared about me as a person. That was 14 years ago.

I asked Dr. Holmes for a second opinion after a difficult and troubling experience at UT-Southwestern where a 40% remission on a new sick-causing pill-based drug was considered a "good remission." Dr. Holmes thought otherwise. I changed my care from UTSW to Dr. Holmes of Texas Oncology. After trying another promising post-clinical trial drug that didn't work out, he put me on Bendeka and Gazyva and within six months I had the first clear CT scan in my 20-year struggle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Dr Holmes cured my cancer. I never felt bad a single day while on chemo.

I am grateful for Houston’s expertise and wise counsel.

Houston is kind and knowledgeable. His expertise is saving lives! His bedside manner is exceptional!

Much to my dismay, as I have always thought the best of Baylor doctors. I was very unimpressed by not only the skill and professionalism of this doctor, but also his behavior. It was quite evident from the start the Dr. Holmes wanted to avoid the care of my loved one. He wanted to impede plans of a necessary, upcoming surgery to do a bone marrow biopsy that, per his own words, "may or may not give us answers". His only answers to any questions was "I don't know".

He has the three characteristics of a good physician. He is experienced and educated to formulate a plan, knows how to impart hope and has a very open bed side manner. He said yes when a few others said no. He is a titan in his field but humble enough to relate to everyone.

I feel so very blessed to have Dr. Houston Holmes treating my Hemolytic Anemia and Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma. He is extremely knowledgeable, has a great bed side manner, and never makes you feel he needs to rush in and out, or that you don't matter. Dr Holmes makes his patient feel comfortable and confident in his knowledge and ability to help. He gladly visits with each patient, never making them feel like he does not have time for them. I really am impressed with that, and by his lack of arrogance. He actually did my blood marrow biopsy himself, and he did an amazing job--I experienced almost no discomfort, which is saying a lot, given the bad reputation that procedure has. He has an excellent treasure of help in Shannon and Kathy.

Dr. Holmes flatly refuses to consult with other physicians regarding our daughter's rare disease. Since Baylor Dallas is a teaching hospital, you would think they would want to know everything about this rare disease. I am sure that my daughter won't be the last patient that goes to Baylor with this disease. I am so frustrated by this. And after talking with the fellow, they don't really care if we change hematologist.
