Visited Dr. Phan's office several times and found that he and his team are extremely unprofessional and rude. The worst part was, after two separate painful small surgery on the back of my ears on the same spot (BTW - we were overcharged for two separate visits despite knowing how the insurance work, he kept on overcharging) there has been absolutely no improvement--even the symptoms and pain worsen. The insurance company called him TWO separate times and asked him for refund. Then, he called me and was absolutely rude as to why I called the insurance and proved him wrong. Dr. Pham was extremely rude to me. He used to ask me to come every week in order to charge me and prescribed medicine for 15 days and 1 month so that I go and visit him again and pay his fee. Pure Money Business. He obviously did this to charge us the costs of the two small surgeries. If you love yourself and value your money, you should absolutely avoid Dr. Pham.

My daughter and I see Dr. Pham as needed. He's smart and he and staff are friendly. He just needs to update ugly old dirty carpet and chairs. He can usually get us in within a couple of weeks.

We spent $150 on copay and he refused to treat me for my acne because I wasn’t going to be back in 2 weeks for another appointment (another copay of $150), even though I was going to be back in a couple months after college anyways. He told me he thought I needed a certain prescription, but then when I told him I was leaving for college in 4 days, he wouldn’t prescribe me the treatment he as a doctor thought I needed (which was a lotion I’ve used perfectly fine before as well). My dermatologists, before I moved to the area, never requested to see me that soon or that often. Literally said to me, after spending all that money on the copay to see him and hear a professional opinion and get treatment, “it’s probably better to just find yourself another dermatologist at college” and left it at that. It is very obvious that Dr. Hoang is in it for the money. When my mom came to him for an annual check-up, we were notified that she had psoriasis (a skin condition) as well as two skin markings which he suspected to be malignant. He told us that since there are three different conditions, it would be three separate visits. Three separate visits = three separate copays, when it could have ALL been covered in one visit. The worst part was, after two separate painful biopsies on the two separate skin markings (BTW - we were charged for two separate visits), the labs notified us that the skin biopsies were done incorrectly (too little skin to even be viable for analysis). After calling Dr. Hoang, he was extremely rude to us and said he knew all along the two skin markings were just moles, nothing to be concerned about. He told us to ignore the labs because he knew all along they were normal moles. He obviously did this to charge us the costs of the two biopsies. A year later, my mom's psoriasis has worsened and we are never coming back. It is very obvious that Dr. Hoang is in it for the money. I went to him for about 4 months consistently for cystic acne. Each time I was prescribed anti biotics and he popped any existing acne I had using a needle syringe and then his hands. Over the next few months my skin became awfully and badly scarred, so bad that I ended up having to have a laser treatment to resurface my skin. I didn’t realize it until now, a year later, that the scarring was due to him using a needle to pop any inflamed acne on my face...and he did this for 3-4 months all over my face. I’d leave his office with my face bleeding and I thought this was a normal dermatology practice. Why a needle? Who does that with an acne patient? Horrible experience. Absolutely do not recommend. He couldn't find the reason for my disease but he did try and lead me to someone who might be able to help. The staff was courteous and office clean.

Wouldn’t go to that office ever again not about Dr , all about unprofessional and rude of one person name Jessi .

Great Dr. I have been seeing Dr. Pham for at least a couple of years. My whole family goes there too. He knows what he is doing and has a great bed side manner. I have recommended him when ever anyone has asked me for a dermatologist. I will keep on going to him till either the day he retires or I move way out of the area. Also his staff is great too. If you are looking for a doctor with a good bedside manner, you’d be looking in the wrong place. My wife took my 13 year old son there who had warts on his hand. Instead of explaining to them calmly about them being contagious, my wife said he got an incredible attitude directed at my son and my wife, like how could they be so stupid, just not in those words. He said don’t you know these warts are contagious!?! My wife fired back and said he’s had these for a year and nobody has ever caught any of them from him; and how were we supposed to know that? So he said he was not willing to do anything, that my son should go to the pharmacist and ask them what they could recommend to put on it. Some kind of freezing medication or he could make another appointment to come back at another time to have him burn them off. So he and my wife had more than a few words. And as with most businesses, when the boss has an attitude so does the staff. She got the same kind of response from the secretary out front. Myself, I had hip surgery from Dr. McMahon at Ortho VA and shoulder work done from Dr. Parker at Ortho VA, and you could not ask for two nicer doctors with the best bedside manner ever. Both of those gentlemen sat back, spent much more than the allotted fifteen minutes they are supposed to spend with you, explained everything to me, joking and laughing. A far cry from Dr. Pham with my family. I called him back and demanded the money back, the copayment of $35 and also that he not charge the insurance company and of course, you know what they told me. I ended up going to Dr. Pham for around a year, with no improvement. Went to a new doctor and started seeing some progress.

I've gone to Dr. Hoang Pham twice, and will continue to go to him since he's begun treating me, though if I could go back, I would choose someone else. I initially chose him based on great reviews from other people. However, though Dr. Pham seems knowledgeable, he did not provide straightforward information. When diagnosing my condition, he said, "I have a pretty good idea of what it is, and if it isn't we can do a biopsy later." He then wrote me a prescription without explaining what he believed the condition was or what it could be, On the second visit, I asked specifically what it was, but he was still vague saying it could be a "fungal condition" and did not elaborate. As well, while trying to provide as much information about my condition (how long it's been there, if it hurts, etc.), he seemed impatient and annoyed. Here I was trying to help by providing as much info as possible to a man who did not seem sure as to what it was, and he was treating me with disrespect. It was unnecessary and inappropriate. Overall, Dr. Pham doesn't seem like an inept doctor, and is for the most part amiable, but has a tendency to not elaborate for the patient and can seem condescending.
