Dr. Heidi Zafra

Booked an appointment for our 3.5 year old on referral by pediatrician, took 4 months to get an appointment. Dr. Zafra ordered over $5,400 worth of labs, on top of $600 physician fee. Did not provide an warning of the cost of the labs. Now we are on the hook for paying 3 months worth of daycare costs for labs. A single set of the labs she ordered were over $3,000. They had 4 months to provide price information on potential lab costs. Quality care of care was nothing special. Ask for potential costs ahead of time!

Poor bedside manner. Perhaps a fantastic clinician, but as far as being a PEDIATRIC allergist, she's not your doctor. Maybe I was looking for Patch Adams at a children's hospital and maybe I caught her on a bad day, but she seemingly didn't know how to interact with kids. When my older daughter, who wasn't the patient, tried to tell Dr Zafra that we would be going to the zoo after the appointment, her excitement was blown off by the good doctor. Really lady? You can't muster a little enthusiasm at 9am for a kid? If I'm seeing the doctor as an adult, I want business. Give me the facts. For my kids, you don't have to dance and tell jokes, but for the love of all things children, at least ACT interested. If your insurance allows, look elsewhere.

I had a bad experience and left the appointment feeling frustrated and mad. She is a horrible doctor, she was not personable or kind. She almost skin tested my son without reading his charts to see that he was on antihistimes, I had to tell her. She was sarcastic and disrespectful to my questions and only tested the allergies that a city kid would encounter and now he has to have a second blood test to test the allergies she disregarded. I found a better doctor who listens and understands.

We saw her for over 5 years and she has clearly been going down hill. I would agree that she does not keep current on her industry, she has no respect for parents educated opinions and will not hear anything but her point of view. If you are looking for a physician who cares about your child more than her ego, can keep her patience straight, and is interested in the best interest of your child... look elsewhere!

Horrible bedside manor and listening skills. Lacks knowledge of anything that is not old school textbook. Does not appear to keep up with new research from peer reviewed medical journals.

I had a very pleasant experience with my consultation with Dr. Zafra. She was empathetic, prompt, and thorough. She offered a solution to my issues that no one else had to that point.
