I'll just say,, Dr. Memmel and the entire Breast Center staff saved my life! She is compassionate, caring, knowledgeable and a wonderful human being.

Dr. Memmel and her team at Caldwell Breast Center at Lutheran Hospital provided exceptional care throughout the whole process of diagnosis, surgery and recovery. Prior to the surgery Dr. Memmel sat down with my husband and me and personally generated notes explaining my case, outlining options of treatment (including graphic images) to help us understanding my situation and making difficult decisions. She stayed in touch during therapy and her demeanor and engagement during our interactions resulted in great rapport and deep trust and comfort. I felt I got personal attention, which lifted my spirit at this difficult time. The nurses were very supportive and their team also helped in logistics of arranging appointments making the situation much less overwhelming. I am very grateful and I am looking into years to come with comfort of being in good hands. Dr Memnel is an extraordinary person. Her approach and personal attention to the patient is extremely special. She genuinely cares and takes personal interest in the patient. Her assessment and thorough evaluation of the situation leaves you totally sure of the decision you need to make. That is a gift during a very difficult time. I would definitely recommend Dr. Memmel. She explained everything in great detail and really wanted to make me feel comfortable with the situation. It was helpful to have a explanation and you can tell how detailed orientated Dr Memmel is. I am so thankful to have found such a caring doctor.

I went to see this doctor yesterday for a lump ive had for 2.5 years. When she first entered our room. She had a shocked look on her face and a delayed response to introducing herself. Then proceeded to tell me if im more comfortable for my husband and kids to step out. A 2 year old and a 5 month old. Im comfortable, they are my kids i live with them, why would i not be comfortable. She seemed more bothered and wanted them out. I was respectful and told me husband to step out with them anyway. Once they left she stated something along the line that it was much better as it was quieter and we could discuss better. She then basically was confused why i was there if i didnt have cancer. I understand maybe majority of her patients have cancer but there are other issues we women can have with out breast tissue; cysts, fibroids, and so forth,l. Plus my obgyn sent me for a second opinion. She was rude to say the least. Told me not to touch it and come back once im done breastfeeding and “my ducts dry up” which might solve the problem. umm.. ive had it over 2 years, it didnt dry up with my last breatfed baby so it wont dry up now either. Terrible bed side manner. If i wasnt uncomfortable i would have never waited over a month for an appointment and then waited 1.5 hour past my appointment to finally see her. I def recommend to search for someone with better bed side manner. i cant imagine having a bigger issues and she needing to be my specialist. She also has a hard time listening to you, interrupts and doesnt even give good feed back. If i could give no star i would. Good luck. Dr Memmel is excellent breast cancer surgin. She explained to me and my husband every steps for the surgery. I felt very comfortable with her. Dr Memmel listens very well to all the concerns we have. She answers questions patiently and with smile on her face. Her staff are wonderful specially Susie.

Very disrespectful. She rushed things and made it feel like she had more important clients to deal with. Very uncomfortable situation.

Dr. Memmel conveyed my original diagnosis of breast cancer, and did my mastectomy surgery. She is both compassionate and competent, a real asset to Lutheran General Hospital. She performed a skin-sparing mastectomy and my plastic surgeon then did a direct implant (no expander). Considering the large size tumor I had, and its location near the chest wall, I think the outcome of how my reconstruction looks is phenomenal. I feel I am in GREAT hands with my team of doctors, and especially Dr. Memmel

Last year I was diagnosed with DCIS. I met with four surgeons and Dr Memmel was far and away the best. She not only took her time to explain everything in detail but also answered all our questions (and believe me, we had a ton!) Her staff was incredible as well. I can't recommend her highly enough.

Dr. Memmel is amazing! So much compassion, she made my journey much easier!

Would not explain thoroughly. Did not respond to questions. She was my wife's second opinion and we were very disappointed in her lack of compassion
