I was a patient of Dr. Hatem Abdo. I first started to go to him via a referral by my primary care doctor. I met with Dr. Abdo 3 1/2 years ago. My husband and I sat in the Drs. Office listening to how he was going to fix my back and I would be able to throw away my cain and I would be able to walk without my legs going numb, dance, and I would better. He was very nice. The day of my surgery arrived, 4 days prior to my hubby and I celebrating our 34th Anniversary. Dr.Abdo said to my hubby and I, I will feel much better. I'm sorry to say that wasn't going to happen. When I was back in my room and coming out of it I noticed I was paralyzed on my right side from my waist down. My husband went into a panic attack. He wanted to see the Dr. The Dr. came in to see me and what was going on after the surgery. I was very concerned about the right side being numb. He asked, No feeling? I said, there is nothing, no feeling & I can't move!! Dr. Abdo wanted to wait until the next day to see if there was a change. Next day I was still paralyzed and had no feeling in my right side. Dr. Abdo said he was going to get some pictures and schedule another surgery. This one was scheduled 5 days after the first one. Well, I can say that I was able to move my right side. I had movement. Some feeling. From that day forward I was never the same. I came away in worse condition then I went in. It has been 3 1/2 years and I cry every day. I can't do anything I use to. I've been through therapy, I've gone for injections into my spine for the pain. I can't even walk my dog. I use to love walking. Please, if anyone takes time to read this, please be careful. Think twice about having any spine surgery by Dr. Hatem Abdo. I pray he doesn't ruin anyone else's life like he has mine.
