Amzing experience with this doctor today. I never had any doctor ask my so many questions and be insterested in so much detail about my seizures and other problems. I have full confidence in Dr. Sonmezturk. I am glad he moved to our area and he is my doctor.

Over the past 10 years I have been to many places including Mayo clinic and received no explainations or any diagnosis. Dr. Sonmezturk spent just about an hour with me and was fully focused on what my stroy was and what I was telling him. He examined me in detail and was able to give me a diagnosis. Everything made perfect sense when he explained what was hapening to me and my family.

Dr. Sonmezturk has been blessing for me and my family. After a major stroke I started having bad seizures. With his help I am seizure free and have recovered from most of my stroke issues. He is very patient and he never rushes you. After every visit he calls to check if we have any additional questions. He not only listens to me he also listens to my husband and answers all of our questions. Since we were so frightened after my stroke and seizures he provided his private cell phone number for us to call him during emergencies. He is the best!

Over 8 years, the one and only time that I needed help from him with medicine changes he totally failed as a neurologist. He gave me the wrong medicines and wasted over a year of my life, until I pursued assistance from a more qualified, experienced neurologist!! This doctor will waste your time!

He prescribed zonisamide, a sulfa drug, which is in my history of being allergic to sulfa. He also put me on clonazepam, a drug, which is no longer used for myoclonic seizures. He wasted over a year of my life on the wrong medicines, until I went to a much better qualified, experienced epileptologist/neurologist! Don’t waste your time with him!

Dr Somnezturk is absolutely the best Takes time to listen & explains everything to you. He is a very caring Dr. I highly recommend him!!

He was extremely rude, called me from a private number to scold me, treated me like an inconvenience, especially if I asked questions. Released me as his patient before I even had time to report him, and then Vanderbilt had the audacity to deny my request for a new neurologist to maintain “consistent care” even though I barely get squeezed into their schedule and he had already released me as a patient. He puts his research over my years of first hand experience with my own epilepsy. He told me to be happy with having “only” a few seizures a day. The nicest part about Vanderbilt neurology is their secretaries. Everything else is inconsistent and disappointing. Update: after switching to a competent neurologist I went from 2-3 seizures a day to 2-3 a year. Always nice and helpful. Fixes me anytime I have a problem with my epilepsy. Would highly recommend for anyone with anything to do with the mind. He’s the best!
