Reviews for Dr. Harris Gellman
Fantastic doctor and surgeon!
Dr Gellman is one of the best hand surgeons I've ever been to. I've had a lot of hand, arm, and finger problems in the past 10 years. Prior to seeing Dr Gellman I was seen by another hand surgeon who left me deformed and unable to use my dominant hand. Dr Gellman repaired my hand and I'm able to write and close my hand now. He is a miracle worker, he is knowledgeable, compassionate, caring, meticulous, and takes his time with you. More importantly he is honest and tells you the way it is. He is my hero! By the way he's the best hand surgeon you will ever see.
I have to leave 1 star, but I would like to do zero, worst place, they dont respect your time, the front desk is rude, dont bother going to this office unless you have available 4 hours to sit and wait for your appointment that was scheduled at 11am ...maybe you will get to see the doctor at 3.30pm. then the doctor won't even talk to me, not impressed really, I had to walk away after my second visit and after waiting more than 2 hours to find out they weren't going to take me in for surgery, I found another hand surgeon closer to my house, I visited today, excellent staff and the doctor took the time to talk to me and explain me everything, dont waste your time in this place.
Dr. Gellman is a awesome surgeon, he is very professional, compassionate and always treats his patients with respect. Had 2 surgeries, both turned out great. He is wonderful and his staff is also awesome. The wait is well worth it for a truly dedicated doctor!!!!!!
Dr. Gellman is a true gentleman and one of the few old school doctors who still takes the time to listen to you , and always shows a genuine interest in your medical treatment . The hand is an extremely delicate part of the body. Don’t trust your hand medical treatment to a general orthopedist. Dr. Gellman and his staff are the best. I called Dr. Gelman’s office as an emergency patient since an orthopedic dr couldn’t help. I needed to see a hand surgeon so he let me come in 9am next day. The following day I had surgery. He is patient and cares about his patients. His staff are all excellent.
Went here for treatment for a broken wrist. Dr. Gellman and the PA Sarah were very helpful and always answered all my questions during my appointments. I was able to crack jokes with the x-ray tech and the lady who applied my casts which made what I was going through suck a little less. I always left the office in good spirits. The few times I called front desk picked up right away and answered all my questions. My only complaint is the extremely long wait times to see the Dr. Hopefully I don't need to, but I would definitely come back to this office. Went here for treatment for a broken wrist. I went to Dr. Gellman with an open compound fracture of my wrist. Was told it was worst fracture he had seen. After 3 surgeries, three months in a cast, I now have full range of motion and no pain.
Dr. Gellman’s experience & knowledge is superb! I totally trust Dr. Gellman to achieve the best results while in his care. What a blessing to find a doctor from the heart! Dr. Gellman genuinely cares about the best outcome for his patients. I thank God for Dr. Gellman.

Great Service ,The front desk assistant Aimee always takes care of me , she has great hospitality and great communication
Short version, this doctor and his staff from the front desk to the PA and xray tech have ZERO bedside manners. None whatsoever. As a registered nurse this is the worse I have ever seen.
I have seen so many doctors and specialists my whole life, and this doctor and his staff is one of the WORST I have experienced. TERRIBLE bedside manner from this doctor!! Bad attitude from the staff at front desk, to the PA, to the doctor. So I went there because had a chronic pain in my hand, that was aggravated by an accident. The constant pain level was 1-2. They took X-rays, and then the PA evaluated my hand, then the doctor came, inserted with no compassion with force a long syringe into the joint I had the pain. When I screamed in pain, he responded with "do you want me to help you?!". Seriously?! I work with my hands (physical work), I don't work in front of the computer and doctor told me after I was in pain "Oh just take an advil, pain will go away in 30 minutes". How about first telling me what is the problem I had with my hand and after seeing the Xray and evaluation? but no, the PA instead of explaining me what I had, and what I need, she just sat there talking to a tape recorder for the SOAP notes or documentation they needed to have on file about my consultation. I felt I was just a number and they were more concerned about paperwork to get paid with insurance company instead of helping me! Oh, and they don't like to take calls, from noon and 1:30pm, but I called after 1:30pm and still "busy not taking calls". I left a message to call me back and never got the call back! And the pain? GOT WORSE!! the pain didn't subside in 30 minutes how the doctor said, I had a terrible pain the whole day and night, and went from level 1-2 to 8 after that worthless injection! I'm still in pain 2 days later and has affected my job. I was better before than I'm after seeing this doctor. The staff is rude, good luck getting anyone on the phone and when you do they will not be happy to help you. I left without seeing Dr. Gellman, the waiting room was over crowded.. there too many other hand surgeons in the area to be trapped with this office. LOOK ELSEWHERE!

Second time he and his staff have helped me. What an overwhelming feeling of relief and gratitude. Shout out to Ms. Sara as well.
read the other reviews before posting. Im still in treatment for a serious potential career ending injury. Yes this Dr. is extremely busy and overbooked. I have had to get fit in the overbooked schedule twice for unforeseen problems and was greatful to not be turned away. He is highly sought after apparently because of his skills and reputation. He was recommended to my by my PCP as she had been a patient. The people who are whining about the wait can go elsewhere and stop the negativity in the office. Everyone is carrying some burden, and experiencing pain, fear, and inconvenience. This Dr. and his staff work long ardous hours and still keep good attitudes. I am a massage therapist who hopes to be able to live normally and return to my passion of healing others and this dedicated man is my best hope. For me its worth the wait. Always call before you go to minimize your wait time. My initial injury occurred in October of 2016. Update, fast forward to June of 2021. My hand and rest is fully functional because of Dr. Gellman. While I have a slight reduction in strength in the hand most noticeable when opening jars, and occasional aching or pains in the ligaments that were torn, due to my profession of Massage Therapy or activities of daily living like falling down on my hand, I have a better recovery than I could have ever expected . Dr Gellman is a very caring and amazing dr. The wait time may be long, but that is because he is such an awesome dr. He and his office see a lot of patients from all over. He is well worth the wait, if you have one. Dr. Gellman will educate you on your dx, show you x-rays, and give you lot’s of information. This gives (us) patient’s knowledge. Just moved to the area, and receiving ongoing treatment for Ulnar Nerve block/Cubital Tunnel Syndrome, and Dupuytren's Contracture, resulting in hand pain, muscle atrophy, and numbness. Dr. Gellman took the time to thoroughly review my medical history, ulnar nerve revision operative report, and EMG test. He explained options, which included a well designed conservative plan of action. All staff members were personable, and professional.

Dr. Gellman took the time to thoroughly review my medical history, ulnar nerve revision operative report, and EMG test. He explained options, which included a well designed conservative plan of action. All staff members were personable, and professional. The few negative reviews? I'm an unscientific sample size of one, but: Yes, the office was busy, but no patient waited more than 15 minutes to be seen. I suspect the long waits noted in the few negative reviews were due to Dr. Gellman encountering a few complex cases. Then taking the time to examine, and then humanely explain treatment options to patients with justifiable concerns, in pain, or even, fearful.
I saw Dr. Gellman yesterday for two relatively common, though quite painful and troublesome, issues on my left hand. This was my first experience with him, and I could not have been more pleased. His front desk staff, his x-ray tech, and his intern were all efficient, respectful, and kind, a wonderful bonus when visiting a doctor's office. Once the preliminaries had been taken care of, Dr. Gellman entered the exam room wherein his intern had just completed a thorough fact finding session with me in order to provide Dr. G with all of the details about my two hand issues. Dr. G discussed that information with me, and proceeded to administer the two injections necessary to treat my issues. He then fully explained my "after care" plan while personally placing suitable splints on my injured finger, wrist, and thumb, making sure that everything was "comfortable" as I would be using those devices for 10 days. He then said I could see him in six weeks if necessary, but things should be fine by then, and if so I should simply call to cancel my follow-up appointment. Professional, personable, caring, and thorough, are precisely how I would describe Dr. Gellman. Hopefully I won't need the services of a hand surgeon in the future, but if I do I will most assuredly pay another visit to Dr. Gellman.
Dr. Gellman and his staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Great office. Highly recommend.
Great!!! Excellent !!! Today was my first visit both Dr. Gellman and Ms. Reilly his assistant (PA), dedicated sufficient time to examine my hand and provided me with sufficient explanation about my hand condition. Extremely satisfied
Horrible and scary! I had hand surgery and they forgot to tell my wife in the waiting room after the surgery was completed. She was left worrying about me until closing. I am very late I writing this review but I can report that the surgery performed by Dr. Gellman corrected my problem! I had "avocado hand", I sliced open my hand and cut a nerve in my left index finger while trying to open an avocado....no feeling in it after the incident. Dr Gellman and his staff did a great job diagnosing my issue, Dr Gellman fixed the nerve and one year later (actually sooner, maybe 6 months) I have complete feeling back, wouldn't even know I had surgery except for a small bump in the palm of my hand but that isn't an issue. Yes the wait can be long, I advise that you bring something to occupy yourself, it can be frustrating but I would rather suffer that than not have feeling back in my finger! In 2017, I went to see Dr. Gellman after I had a trip and fall. I had two broken fingers and fractured two bones in my hand. After wearing a cast and not healing, surgery was performed. I've had two surgeries with Dr. Gellman and he's the best. He explains procedures, he takes his time, he does what he says he going to do and even smiles. He answers all your questions and you will never leave with any doubts on your mind. I travel from Lake Worth to see him. I don't mind the travel to see such a great doc! The wait in the waiting room has improved tremendously, but remember, even hand doctors have emergencies. His staff also are very nice and helpful too.
My son required surgery on his broken finger and we saw Dr. Gellman and his PA for 3 months during his healing. Although the office wait can be long, he is worth the wait. He has a great bedside manner and is good with children and adults. My son required 2 surgeries during this time and both went perfectly.
I have had 2 surgeries from Dr. Gellman for two separate issues and I have never been more appreciative and had more respect for a mans professional expertise than I have for Dr. Gellman. When you go to Dr. Gellmans office, you will be surprised to see his waiting room full and the reason is because he is THE BEST. Just like going to a restaurant where there are no people or a lot. Ask yourself why and I think you will understand. The wait is worth your while and your health. Also, Dr.Gellmans staff is top notch. They are courteous and professional. Words can't accurately express my gratitude to Dr. Gellman. Both my wrist and elbow are perfect and I have had ZERO issues with either. Thank You Dr. Gellman
dr. is awesome but half of his staff no good they walk around like they have a chip on their shoulder,

Great Surgeon! Removed a mass on my arm that was interfering with my nerves. Dr Gellman took the time to fully diagnose and explained the procedure that I could understand. Done as an outpatient, painless and no complications. Trust Dr. Harris Gellman.
My hand closed due to a spinal cord injury, Drs I went to said they couldn't help! Then I met Dr Gellman. Starting from the minute you walk in the door and are greeted by the friendly staff my expierences have always been positive. Dr Gellman explained and "educated" me on what options I have, After several surgeries I now have a functioning hand that has greatly increased my quality of life. Couldnt be more thankful!
Dr. Gellman helped me cure my carpal tynnel syndrome without surgery. I followed his protocol for my pain and it is gone. I have been carpal tunnel free of pain for over a year now. He is excellent.
This Dr. is fabulous! I had fallen and broken a bone in my left hand. Dr. Gellman saw me the same day I was referred to him by Urgent Care. He detected a bone fracture in my right hand also, which he casted. He performed surgery on my left hand two days later. My pain level is minimal. I saw Dr. Gellman again today, five days after surgery. Dr. Gellman, his PA, x-ray tech, and casting/scheduling person are all kind and caring. This is a very fine medical practice.
Urgent appointment needed because of a fall over the weekend and a broken wrist temporarily set by the ER doctor. Called Dr. Gellman's office, explained the situation. Office staff went out of their way to get us in very quickly - appointment within 3 1/2 hours. Got to the office early, had already filled out the paperwork after downloading from their web site. 11:45am appointment - got in at 11:40am - incredible staff all round. Nurses, Student Dr. PA and doctor, cast person - incredible!!
On a scale of 0-10, Dr.s ability, knowledge, patient interaction and bedside manner rates a 12.

A Good Dr He did a better job on my hand then the old Dr that did the surgery 9 year ago. I have nerve damage in my left elbow and he fix some of that.
Dr. Gellman is the best. Occasionally there is a wait to see him, but I am happy to wait because if I am the patient with an emergency hand injury, I want a Doctor with his expertise to be available to care for me and my precious hand. I am grateful to know such a gifted surgeon! Thank you Dr. Gellman Melanie Loveridge.
1. My appoint & follow up we’re always 2hrs last scheduled time 2. Gave me a shot of cortisone for “arthritis” which I’ve never complained of. It still burns a year later where he gave the shot. 3. Had left hand carpal tunnel release which didn’t improve except for maybe 25%. 4. Follow up appt he wants to schedule for my dominant right hand. I said no and he gets put off that I don’t.
"HIGHLY RECOMMEND." The BEST HAND SURGEON in the world. Honest, nice caring personality. Came to see me before the surgery at the hospital to make sure I was comfortable. I was in moderate pain afterwards no biggy. 6 weeks in a variety of casts necessary. After that no cast just a sling than the scare went away and it's disappearing. I have full use of my hand.
From the initial examination, through the surgery and now to the aftercare, I have been informed every step of the way by Dr. Gellman. He is knowledgeable and took the time to make sure I understood the procedure. I am extremely pleased with the outcome of my surgery. The office recommends calling prior to your appointment time which I highly recommend.
Dr. Gellman is not only Master of his field, he is a very caring and compassionate man. I went through a frightening experience and cannot express in words my thanks and appreciation to him. Dr Gellman cares deeply about all his patients, as does his staff, and will spend the time needed on each patient. I truly appreciate that. Occasionally the wait time is longer than expected, but to me it is worth the wait to know I will get the best care possible.
After four weeks of walking around with broken bones in my hand my doctor x-rayed me and said I had nothing wrong. I requested to see a specialist. Dr Gellman found two broken bones in my hand. My arm is put in a cast and after nine weeks I’m pain-free. I could’ve spent the rest my life in pain without his expertise.
They usually have Linh waits but the front desk always recommends calling first to avoid delays -I did and they offered to call back when I should come -it was great ended up being in and out in 30 minutes -great service by the staff!!
I am a physician and underwent surgery under the care of Dr. Gellman today, 10/25/2017. From my initial visit with Dr. Gellman and through today's surgery, I was well informed by Dr. Gellman and his office and surgical center staff. I underwent cubital tunnel release surgery today. No one better in my opinion!

Dr. Gellman is not only an incredible doctor but he is a wonderful, caring person. He performed surgery on Both of my children who are now feeling great and have resumed activities. Dr. Gellman recently removed a large lipoma mass from my wife's (Judy) forearm. This was major surgery as the lipoma was shaped like a doughnut wrapped around the bone and close to critical nerves. Dr. Gellman's expertise and experience were apparent as he did a fantastic job of removing the lipoma (as large as his hand) and Judy has now fully recovered. A super job... The office staff are all efficient and friendly and spend sufficient time with you to make you feel comfortable...
Needs improvement on customer service.
BEST hand surgeon you will ever find. Staff is incredible. No need to look anywhere else. #1
I have seen Dr. Gelman over the years for tendon and joint problems in both hands. He has always been phenomenal. He is always correct in his diagnosis and most importantly his treatment allowed me to go back to work pain free in 1-2 days. I have read some of the comments and I guess for me whats most important is the correct diagnosis and treatment. In that regard he is always 100 percent.

Dr. Gellman with all the respect of you giving excellent work and I agree that you give patients dedicated time while we are in the room. On the other hand it is very disrespectful to have us make appointment and to know we will have to wait 3+ hours. We also have jobs and schedules. I'm sure you would want respect from us so you need to respect people's schedule. Don't make many appointment if you can't get to all of them. If you are so good people will come or hire another Dr. In your office

Waited two hours past my appt time (the office does encourage you to call to see how far behind he is running), and was then told I must have a xray done in the office before Dr. Gellman would see me. I explained that #1)My insurance doesn't pay for xrays unless they are done in a Broward Health facility, and 2) His fee of $25.00 is $15.00 MORE than the co-pay I would pay under my plan and 3) what I am coming in for may not NEED an xray. After speaking to Dr. Gellman the young lady informed me he would not see me without an xray. I got my $20.00 co-pay back and left. One star is one too many. Waited 3 hrs past my appt time despite calling ahead as was recommended. I was told to come right in. 1.5 hours in the waiting room later, they showed me back to a room where a med student asked some questions. I noticed from her notes that she has no ability to differentiate between a causal versus related pain association. Finally 1.5 hrs later, I had enough and opted to leave. Doctor came over and was in hysterics. Not a chance I am letting you examine me in that state. First and last visit.
I found him to be very a very thorough and caring physician. I have read many positive and negative reviews (there are only a few) and I would highly recommend him. It is a shame that the few people with a bad experience try to ruin it for everyone. I travelled a long way from home to find someone I trusted. He know immediately what was wrong and proceeded to explain it to me so I could understand.
He refused to see me so I got my copay back and left
