About Dr. Glenn S. Hammer
Reviews for Dr. Glenn S. Hammer
One of the absolute worst drs I have ever encountered! He was irresponsible, extremely rude, insensitive and a completely inadequate dr. Wrong diagnosis and didn’t care at all. He should have his license revoked!
Dr. Hammer will help you until your will be back and healthy he's really unbelievable !!!
Best Infection disease doctor in the entire universe. and is also very devoted to his patients.
He saved my life after going into septic shock from an epidural injection. I was so fortunate to have him treat me!
He is a superb physician. He will not help create antibiotic resistant bugs by arbitrarily prescribing unnecessary antibiotics and does not suffer fools easily. If he has your profile, he will phone in necessary prescriptions to pharmacies without charging you. If you call or write with questions, he has never failed to call back with a consultation and no charge. He stays well up on current infectious diseases and won't pander to self medicating know-it-alls.
My doctor sent me to Dr Neibart because I had two small a bites with two puncture marks on my arm that occurred two weeks apart from one another. The first I had no recollection of and the second happened so quickly that I did not see what caused it. The second bite occurred in the evening while outside my home on Long Island. Both bites did not resemble any type of insect bite I had in the past so, although a long shot, I was concerned it could have been a bat bite. Bats can be very small and their bites are swift. Bats are the number transmitter of rabies to humans in the USA. The CDC recommends getting a rabies post exposure prophylaxis if you find a bat in your house as sometimes their bites are so small you could have been bitten while sleeping and not see it. My doctor paged and spoke with Dr. Neibart who had already left his office and was at the hospital. Dr. Neibart instructed my doctor to send me to the Mt. Sinai ER where he would see me. I was having some strange pain near the, already healed bite sites, and was concerned it could have been symptoms of rabies. I met with the doctor, at the ER, but only in the lobby. I showed him photos of the bites and he assured me I was not having rabies symptoms. Since rabies can have an incubation period lasting up to several months I asked if I should have a post exposure prophylaxis as a precaution. I explained I live on Long Island, where bats are not uncommon, and that bats were released by the town next to me , earlier in the season, to eat mosquitos. He told me he would not recommend, or administer, the post exposure treatment. Looking back this was a bad call ,on his part, because I had unidentified bites. The post exposure treatment has very low risk of side effects and the end result of rabies is death. The longer you wait the less the chance you have of the post exposure treatment being successful assuming you were bitten by a rabid animal. After seeing two other infectious disease doctors the third thought rabies was unlikely however I should go to the ER and let them determine if I should have the post exposure treatment. The ER did a lot of research and left the decision to me and I opted for it. The only problem is that it was now six weeks after the first bite and four weeks after the second. Dr. Neibart was the first infectious disease doctor I saw and I find it disgusting how dismissive. condescending and cavalier he was about something that could be life threatening with no cure. Since he was the first infectious disease doctor I saw for this, even though unlikely, if I didn't get treatment in time , in my opinion, he would be one of the primary doctors to blame if this should be the case. Dr. Hammer was my fathers doctor, and I can say this much he SAVED my father. What a great doctor. Thank you
I was extremely unnerved at having no choice but to deal with this evil mean nasty man 3 times. Although he holds himself out to be an infectious disease specialist, he gloats at the opportunity to NOT prescribe antibiotics or discontinue ones that are being used. I believe that his uncaring “care” caused me 2 additional hospitalizations and another amputation. Other doctors were amazed to heat

Doctor came in he basically said "Why are you here" in an accusatory tone. I had been diagnosed with a bacteria overgrowth by another doctor She told me to get antibiotics. It's not the fact that he didn't think he should be treating me for this bacteria. He said to me "You don't look depressed" and didn't know what a paleo diet was. Last time I checked diet is a big part of gut health so to not know a popular diet speaks volumes. I felt like my concerns had been completely dismissed.
Very intuitive and wise and very experienced. He leaves no stone unturned and tells you what you need to hear because he cares about you. Very meticulous and detailed and just knows what medicines best suit my infections. It it wasn't for his dedication I wouldn't be here. You don't know him unless you are his patient. He is a physian and a true scientist. Love him as my Infectious Doctor...
I think Dr. Hammer has a very nice bedside manner and is the Dr. that does not just prescribe antibiotics if you are having a cold. He is good that way. He will take the time to carefully listen to you and explain course of action in a very nice/professional way. He is patient and he calls you to go over your lab results and his team is very nice as well. I see him as my PCP and I am very pleased.
