Dr. McDowell knew exactly what was wrong with me and what help I need to get better. This has been a great experience. Can’t wait for the shots in my back to start feeling somewhat normal.

Waited over 90 minutes past my scheduled Appt time for an initial consult at Integrated Pain Solutions to discuss options for ongoing chronic perineal pain after a surgery. I got, at best, about 10 minutes of his time. He went from zero to 60 regarding treatment recommendations skipping right to having electrodes inserted into my lower spine, despite my concerns about having anything that was invasive in nature. Oddly enough the manufacturer’s rep who supplies the implantable device just conveniently happened to be on site so I was shuffled off to him to ask questions. I did not stay to ask much of anything but it did make me ponder how he gets such rave reviews if this is how a new patient is handled. I was then surprised by a bill for the full amount of the visit instead of a co-pay because Integrated Pain Solutions said they were “in network” with my insurance provider but my provider is refusing payment despite me providing all info when the visit was scheduled. I felt like my time was not valued, my concerns were not adequately considered before recommending a surgical procedure after I stated I did not want anything that required surgery and that it was really shocking that the very first consult went the way it did. It was a very disappointing (and now expensive) visit after hearing good things about Dr. McDowell. If I could give 1/2 of a star I would have and that’s only because he seemed like a nice person but my experience as a patient left me disillusioned and unimpressed. The doctor is delaying giving me what I need

While Dr. McDowell was very nice, he was primarily focused on alleviating pain when I should’ve been seeing doctors focused on stopping the root cause. It took me over a year to get properly diagnosed with pelvic floor dysfunction as being the root of my groin and hip pain. I wish I had gone directly to cleveland clinic urology instead. If you are experiencing similar pain and have high anxiety, please consider cleveland clinic and please read the book A Headache In the Pelvic.

Cheerful people who know what they are doing. Dr. McD obviously knows what he is doing. Little or know pain during the procedure.

Do not I repeat do not go here if you have a pain pump. Dr is great but the pump adds too much confusion with insurance companies and how he codes and you end up paying out of pocket costs that honestly should be illegal. Im talking over a thousand extra per month. I recommend him for all others though. I am going to be going elsewhere for pain pump stuff but have a bwc case he would be great for for my thoracic. We’ll see how the transition goes on whether the score increases or not. He seems to be a caring dr. Not sure how going from private insurance to bwc is going to effect his interactions with me. Best Pain Management in the Country.

Staff are amazing and caring, Dr. McDowell is wonderful , thorough and very professional!

Very smart man. He has helped me a lot. His nurses are top notch

While I was in the office I was made to feel very comfortable. It was like I was his only patient. I appreciate the time that was spent with me.

Dr. Gladstone was insistent that he INJECT me in my head and knee, I was totally against it! Also him or his office looked into my medical history without permission. I believe now with this opiate situation the doctors are pushing patients into more invasive treatments!

He has really taken good care of me. As well as setting an in-depth treatment plan for me.

Dr McDowell is a great doctor. He spends time with you and really works for a long term solution to your pain. So thankful we found him!

I believe this is a clinic that gets the majority of its cash from focusing on tests and injections for your back. If your back doesn’t hurt or isn’t the problem, it doesn’t matter! Just take a look around the clinic and you’ll see spine diagrams everywhere. It’s all the doctor talked about, when he wasn’t talking over me. Do not waste your time. Canceled my procedure day before. They called me to reschedule two weeks later. The person on the phone also wanted to come in for another appointment the next week and we going to charge me for another visit. No urgency to get me taken care of. Hello everyone, let me just by letting everyone know that I am a stage 4 metastatic cancer patient. My cancer has moved to my bones and is very painful. I was completely blindsided by this man as he talked a good game about getting the pain pump put it. Now dont get me wrong, it worked well for about 3 weeks. It was implanted back in May of this year (2020) I have had nothing but severe pain issues more now than ever before! All’s they want to do is keep turning the pump up even after I have clear that the medication is making me sick. I have also expressed a very huge concern with the two VERY LARGE lumps on my back, only to be told its clear fluid and it would go away. I was also told to throw out my old pain medication because I didnt need it! THANK GOD I didnt as that is what saved me the last few days. Now I have consulted a few LNP and they have all said it needs to come out and be put back on oral medications and my body has highly rejected this pump! I was recommended to Dr. Gladstone by the VA. I often think of how fortunate I was to be sent to him. The first couple appointments was him taking his time with me to listen to me about my injury with follow up test and making sure he had the right diagnoses to serve me best with the right treatment. He was thorough and I appreciate him for it. My pain was beginning to wear on me mentally wondering if I would be back to normal. I'm so thankful to him and his staff for all they do to make sure I'm happy with the outcome. Seeking care for a rare, chronic pain condition is scary, but Dr. McDowell and his staff provided me with an excellent experience during my initial visit. They took their time and answered all my questions. He is incredibly professional, kind, and knowledgeable on an extremely uncommon condition known as CRPS. Dr. McDowell is very patient, explains everything so you can understand it, is very professional and has a good sense of humor that keeps you relaxed. Dr. McDowell and Dr. Matt are fine Doctors. However the staff lacks the ability to do their jobs and does not return phone calls as my personal experience. A Dr cannot run an office by himself unfortunately. The staff leaves much to be desired. If your not prepared to do your own work with recertification and finding your best medication then paying them, this is not the Doctor for you.

He was kind and conducted a cursory exam but didn't really listen to me or care about my previous 12 year record with my prior pain management physician from out of state. He seemed to have preset solutions in mind regardless of my history. I did not return and found another doctor who would listen to me.

The good thing about Dr. McDowell is that I knew he reviewed my case as a new patient because he came into the room fully knowledgeable of my cranial/facial nerve damage. The reason for my 2 star review is that he wouldn't listen to me during my appointment-his mind was already made up as to what treatment plan he was going to "force" on me. After about 5 minutes of trying to tell him that what he wanted to do I had already tried and it was unsuccessful in treating my condition I gave in and we moved forward. The other reason for my bad review is his staff...they are terrible and look down on you from the get-go. NOT EVERY ONE LOOKING FOR PAIN MANAGEMENT AND RELIEF IS A PILL POPPER OR DRUG SEEKER!!!!!!!!!!! I would just like to lead a semi-normal life and the suborbital and supraorbital injections he gave me with his "proprietary 'Big Mac-Dowell sauce'" (I kid you not...he actually called the medications he was injecting into me that!) did not work but for a couple of hours. I have been very pleased to have chosen Dr McDowell for my pain management .The pain I was in when I started with Dr McDowell was really bad.He has helped my quality of life with much less pain.

Dr McDowell is everything I could ever want in a physician. At 40 years old, I was told by other pain doctors that opioids were my only treatment option for a debilitating back condition. After visiting with Dr McDowell, he assured me that there were several options available that may not give 100% relief, but they would greatly improve my quality of life. Today I am working full time and I’m able to participate in activities with my family that I previously only dreamed about. I still have pain, but thanks to Dr McDowell, it is manageable. He never stops looking for a solution because he cares for his patients. I don’t know where I would be without him. I explained how much I wanted to get treatment that would eliminate the need for future pain medication. I’m actually surprised that I have never posted a review before. Dr. McDowell has been my doctor for 18 1/2 years now! My accident was July 16, 2001 and he took me on as a patient and did my first spinal cord stimulator surgery in December of 2001. He has helped me through some of the most amazing yet difficult life challenges. He has done other surgeries since, yes. My most recent being Oct. 13 of this year. Had God not placed Dr. McDowell in my life I am not sure where I would be today! He has truly been a blessing to me and my family. I would and do recommend him to anyone that needs pain management. Stay FAR away from Dr. McDowell & his procedure/surgery room (same location)Gemini Place. Long wait for 1st visit, over an hr., no explanation for the delay. I was scheduled for knee nerve injections & given an appt. The day before the procedure, I was called & told (not asked) that my arrival time was earlier & did not have the option to keep my original arrival time. I was told to “keep it or leave it”. I arrived for the procedure 5 min. before arrival time but sat for 1 hr & 20 mins, no explanation/apology for the long wait. No name tags, introductions, NO ONE washed their hands before touching me, no friendliness/politeness. Anesthesiologist asked about prior med history while I was laying on the OR table. Post-op room; no H2O/food offered, no "How do you feel?", no help if dizzy. Worst thing; the procedure did not work. Got a 2nd opinion from another pain MD who said that Dr. McDowell injected 4 nerves in my knee. He only did 3; 3 bandaids, 3 puncture sites. He falsified records.

This is a terrible place. After refusing a pain pump for three years, he basically left me no choice and went ahead with the pain pump surgery. After coming to the office practically EVERY DAY to tell Dr. McDowell that the pump was not working, and I was now in even more pain than ever. He continued to ignore my cries. I ended up at OSU medical center. They took me into surgery right away. The surgeons said the infection was so severe, that it had a foul odor and came VERY close to reaching my spinal cord, which would have caused death. So after 7 days in the hospital the pain pump is gone and now I need to have oxygen to help me get around. DO NOT let this man do ANY type of procedure on you. This is a terrible place. Wait time is unacceptable and how the Dr( Gladstone McDowell) spoke to me the last time was rude and unprofessional. My appointment was at 10:30am on Wednesday 1/9/19 and I was only there for a prescription refill. My name didn’t get called until 11:17am. This isn’t the first time I’ve had to wait this long to be seen, it actually has been an on going issue. I brought this up to the lady(assistant)who directed me to the back. She said I would be able to speak w Dr McDowell when he came in. She must have briefed him on the situation beforehand, because when he came in the room he had a confrontational attitude. I re explained the situation to him, during the course of our conversation he then told me : 1) to contact the governor about my complaints ... which didn’t make sense since the governor isn’t in charge of time management w his office. 2) asked if I was back to work yet ... then said if I wasn’t working it shouldn’t matter how long I sat in his office since I didn’t have anything else to do 3) encouraged me to find a new pain management Dr. Needless to say I left the appointment outraged ... who treats their patient(s) like that ? Dr. McDowell listened to me, not test results, until we found a way to fix my pain. He changed my life.

He is the kindest, most heartfelt doctor i have EVER had. I have ALWAYS felt like the staff treats both my wife and myself with the upmost respect. Who ever reads this needs to not look any further if you need a pain management doctor! He TRULY cares and does a wonderful job in all 3 of my surgeries!

Absolutely terrible place. Don't ever come here. You'll wait 2-3 hours before you're even seen. And then even longer after you're brought back. WITH NO other patients in the lobby or the back. Stay away.

Several years ago I spent a week in ICU following what was meant to be a routine surgical adjustment to my intethecral pump. After I was released I never heard from the doctor or any of his staff ever again. If I could rate below 1 star I would.
