I waited close to an hour and a half to see Dr. Kaptain when after I had arrived 15 min before my appointment like asked. I was then rushed thru my appointment in about l5 minutes where Dr. Kaptain hadn't even looked at half of the images he was supposed to review, nor had he looked at the written reports. He hardly listened to my concerns about my ongoing issues and worsening symptoms and pain and recommended I should wait 2 years for another MRI and then ushered me out of the office. I was very disappointed and will not be returning.

Dr Kaptain was very patient in answering our questions before the surgery. I too very quickly recovered after the surgery and was able to return home before my neighbors even knew that I had surgery. I was even able to walk around my neighborhood the same day I arrived back home. Highly recommended.

The first time I met Dr. Kaptain I can not tell you how nice he was. He took the time to answer all my questions and explained everything in detail to me. He gave me his cell number and said if I had any questions to call him anytime of the day. I had trigemial neuralgia and needed surgery. I had three options to pick from. I picked to have Microvascular Decompression (MVD). My surgery was Dec 9th 2020 and since then I couldn't feel any better. I am so happy I had the surgery and that I was recommended to Dr. Kaptain. I am so grateful to this man for taking away my pain. I now can eat, drink, brush my teeth, and even speak without shocks going through my mouth all the time. I highly recommend Dr. Kaptain and I thank him so much for taking care of me.

Dr. George Kaptain and his team are a GODSEND! Dr. Kaptain has always been there in explaining what exactly is going on with me and my course of treatment and that is why I call him my Angel. I would recommend him to anyone, because he is by for very professional and very caring for his patients. I am so glad that I chose him for both of my surgeries, because I believe without a shadow of a doubt that Dr. Kaptain was meant to be my surgeon.

Highly recommended by Cardiothoracic surgeon at Hackensack. Excellent md with superb bedside manner. Spends time listening to you and explains every detail of the surgery and options available. Gives his personal number for any medical questions via text. Genuinely concerned with your health and cares from consultation to post care. All mds should emulate this man. Office personnel is another story. Can’t reach a body when calling office. Any concerns regarding insurance paperwork goes to a centralized call center where they take a message and you wait for an answer. There’s no way to talk to an actual office personnel, outside of scheduling or having a prescription filled, which is absurd. After two phone calls over a period of two days and leaving messages with no response, I had no choice but to complain to Dr Kaptain who immediately got someone to call me.

He was amazing with my belated husband. He had Glioblastoma. We could not of had the extra time without him

After discovering that the issues plaguing me for several years turned out to be a Brain tumor, I was introduced to George (Dr Kaptain) and began the process for addressing my issue in a surgical matter. With the size and location as well as the opportunity we moved ahead very quickly to remove the tumor and Dr Kaptain had me on my feet in less than 48 hours. He and his staff have been an absolute Godsend and I cannot sing his praises high enough. He is an empathetic, caring, engaged, extremely talented Neurosurgeon whom helped my wife and I recover our lives. Not enough valid words in my Vocabulary to thank him for what he did for me. I highly recommend Dr. Kaptain, he was patient, kind, and very thorough. He explained my condition and treatment planned in language that I understood and also took the extra time to speak with my daughter regarding my treatment while I was in his office. He performed a CSF Leak surgical repair on me even though he was not in my provider network and also called me personally at home after release from hospital to see how I was doing....You do not get that kind of commitment these days I have found....I am lucky to have had him on my side....his office staff was extremely helpful as well. I recently had two surgeries with Dr. George Kaptain (One Neuro & one Spinal due to a recent Lymphoma diagnosis.) I was referred to him by my World Renowned Oncologist who specializes in my diseases and could not have been happier with the service, attention, care, warmth and quick response of Dr. Kaptain & his entire office. I was referred as an urgent case by Dr. Gopal my neuroophtalmologist to Dr. George Kaptain. I've lost my eyesight on the left eye and I could see that my right eye was also going to be damaged by the tumor. Once Dr. Kaptain saw me, he immediately determined to proceed. From the beginning as he explained to me and all my family about the procedure, we just knew that we landed on the best neurosurgeon in the Tri-State area. Besides his great scientific expertise, he's also a compassionate man.

Dr Kaptain operated on my mother and my family are so happy we chose him. Dr Kaptain’s office was able to squeeze her in within days after hearing her condition and when we met Dr Kaptain, he was professional, sympathetic, and patiently explained everything he was going to do during the operation.Since surgery was her only option, The office helped expedite the surgery scheduling process. The whole process was as painless as it can be, considering the circumstances.

I was diagnosed with a tumor in my pituitary gland, and Dr George Kaptain seemed like the best neurosurgeon in terms of qualifications and compassion. There were no major complications, and my MRI and bloodwork a year later indicated the tumor was removed. I visited the Hackensack office and had my surgery at HUMC. I was happy with the office staff, and all aspects of my experience. I have no regrets about choosing Dr Kaptain as my surgeon.

Diagnosed with a brain tumor in June 2018, I was referred to Dr. Kaptain by a medical professional familiar with his skills. I found Dr. Kaptain to be caring, competent, knowledgeable, professional and competent. He explained my diagnosis and the surgical procedure in terms I could understand. Dr. Kaptain puts the Pro in the word Professional. From the second I met Dr. Kaptain I knew he was the one I wanted performing the surgery on me. He speaks to you straight in the face and looks you straight in the eyes, giving you a high comfort level precisely at the time you need it the most. Before, during and after the surgery he always gave me a feeling of being more than just a patient to him which I don't think you can ask any more from coming from a person in this field of endeavor.

Dr. Kaptain was assigned my mother's case at HUMC after she was rushed to the ER following a fall in the shower. Within just a few hours, it was diagnosed she had a meningioma outside her brain that brought on a seizure, prompting the fall. Dr. Kaptain had such compassion for mom and our family. He was authoritative but he spoke TO us, not AT us. He had the ability to "dumb down" her condition, her obstacles and challenges. Her post op visit in his office was just the same. never felt rushed

My oncologist called me to have an appointment with Dr. Kaptain for craniotomy, since they found out that have 5cm brain tumor that metastasized from my breast ca. Dr. Kaptain and his team are amazing they make me feel that I am the only patient He is compassionate, pleasant and great listener. He answered all questions my family members asked him regarding the procedure to be done. I am very grateful & thankful for Dr. Kaptain and the entire team in helping me through this journey.

My name is Yung Kang and I am a local dentist in Bergen County.a few weeks ago I was diagnosed Craniopharyngioma. The condition made me a headache and losing vision. Dr. Kaptain is well-known neurosurgeon among health communities. I was able to meet him a day after the diagnosis made. He was a humble man and he explained me thru every detail about the procedure. Dr. Kaptain is an excellent Neurosurgeon with a great staff. They are the best. My Gamma Knife treatment was exactly what he said it would be.

My husband was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in May 2015. Dr Kaptain performed this procedure, not only with superior technical skills, but also with tremendous compassion. This was obviously an extremely difficult time for my family and he provided complete factual information in such a calming way which helped to lessen the stress. Without hesistation, I highly recommend this surgeon. He is an absolutely amazing man and a gifted surgeon!!

My mother had a neck laminectomy to remove a benign tumor with Dr. Kaptain. I'm so thankful that he did the surgery as I felt I could rely on him immediately after the first consultation. He's very knowledgeable and walked us through the surgical procedure in detail. He's not a type of doctor who would promise anything before the surgery but I was confident that he would deliver and he did. I was diagnosed with a medium Vestibular Schwannoma in the right ear I had two options surgery or Radiation. I decided for the surgery mostly because I felt I was in good hands with Dr. Kaptain. Dr. Kaptain is the most intelligent man I have had a conversation with in years. I was diagnosed with a large meningioma that needed to be removed urgently. He explained the whole procedure in detail, in a very eloquent manner. He wasn't rushed, he answered all my questions and was very patient with my misgivings, hesitations and anxieties.
