In Dr. Hoover, you have found a doctor who listens well and clearly explains his findings and recommendations.

Dr. Hoover appears to have a need to be "one of the boys, " or to prove something by using rude, snide comments. Dr H. had a Resident with him. At five different times, Dr. H made a rude, snide comment about me, the patient, while directing it toward the Resident, as if looking for approval or agreement from the motionless, speechless young man. At one point, after he had finished palpating my neck and listening to my lungs and heart, Dr. H told the Resident to do the same. I had asked Dr H about a lump in my neck, which Dr. H says he didn't feel. The Resident palpated my neck, and very quietly in my ear said, "Right here?" He felt it, but said nothing. When the Dr. asked the Resident what he heard when listening to my lungs, the Resident replied quietly that he heard Ronchi on the left side; Dr. H immediately said that he heard nothing, shutting the Resident down. Dr. H. shut me down several times when I tried to explain my symptoms, saying, "That is nothing." At one point, he asked me when I took my medication. I told him. He replied in laughter, to the Resident, as he did all his comments, "That makes for a long night." His comments were rude and snide. I will not go back to Dr Gates Hoover and I will be telling this to my GP.

Service is not good at all 2 cars in the parking lot and we had a 45 minute wait

In November of 2020 I made an appointment to see a doctor about allergy to Rabbits; so in January the Carillon doctor office of course referred me to this place. Fast forward to March 26, 2021 and March 27, 2021 a Friday and Saturday I started getting text messages and I called to find out what the heck virtual appointment had been scheduled but they’re not in business hours. So today Monday morning I received a voicemail from the doctor that I missed an 8 am “virtual appointment”. So I call back and doctor has gone on to next person and they said that next available virtual appointment is September 2021 and the virtual appointment has to be done before they even talk to be about allergy testing. So bottom line is; if you want to wait a year to have your health issues addressed then this place might be worth considering. Dr. Hoover has treated me for sinus issues over the years I have found him to be extremely smart with great ideas and information. He has helped me tremendously!! I recommend him for anyone.

I am always amazed at how Dr. Hoover is patient, caring, and really listens. He saved me from horrible reactions I was having from Allergic Asthma! After going to 5 Doctors in the Valley he is the only Doctor who found a cure to control my yearlyear round round allergy asthma! Yes, in this te of COVID if I had to wait in the parking lot that is fine bye. Dr. HooversHoover andband his staff are Safe, Clean, Careful, and they never rush you because of a "time limit" hospitals set. He ALWAYS wants to ensure you have a plan of action and are working for your child's or an adults best interest! I have many autoimmune system conditions and I have been all over the north eastern United States to find help for my conditions and pain - to make my life as positive as it possibly can be. I have been to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN; Duke Univ. Medical Center, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and The Dana Farber Cancer Center in Boston. And, of course many local physicians and hospitals where I have lived. I have never encountered a physician who cares more to share details and info with his patients. I have very much appreciated the details of each visit and test result. He explains everything and his memory is remarkable. I’m a college professor and Dr. Hoover strikes me as one of the most intelligent individuals that I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. I highly recommend Dr. Hoover for those who have allergy or immunologic issues. The Salem/Roanoke area is blessed to have such a top class doctor along with his staff in our area. DR. HOOVER IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!! My visits with Doctor Hoover and his staff have always been pleasant. Doctor Hooover is very thorough and pleasantand is willing to answer all of your questions and concerns. His staff is kind, sociable, and sociable and will listen to whatever you are sharing. Been going there since October 2017. There needs to be more doctors like HIM!! Dr. Hoover and his staff non-sociable. The wait times are always at least an hour, and they do not tolerate children very well.
