About Francis M Benz
Reviews for Francis M Benz
I have found Dr. Benz, his nurse and front office staff to be wonderful. Dr. Benz is quick to identify issues and get you on the right path. Only issue is difficulty getting the referrals to other specialists (sometimes months) after Dr. Benz has requested one. One time I can understand but twice is not good.
Dr. Benz did not listen to anything I said. I only saw him once as I switched doctors right away.
Dr. Benz is a compassionate, understanding doctor that listens...what a concept, but it has proven to b correct, as my migraine pain has diminished over the last year. Physical therapy and dry needling have brought about great relief . When needed I do have prescribed meds, & have reduced the severity of all, but lessened from 5 a month to 6 in 6 months! I went to Dr. Benz in April seeking help for almost daily headaches that have greatly affected my quality of life. I will omit the boring details and cut to the chase. Dr. Benz has changed my life! I feel like the new and improved version of me. I am on a daily medication and rarely ever get headaches. I have never been good at providing a very good history for a doctor to work with but Dr. Benz has been wonderful to figure everything out and change my life for the better! Thank you Dr. Benz. Worst Doctor I've ever seen in my life. Very condescending and rude. Worst beside manner ever. Very incompetent. Misdiagnosed me which led to more months of suffering before changing Neurologists and getting a correct diagnosis and treatment. I wouldn't recommend this Dr to my worst enemy. Stay away!!!! *Update* I just saw where the Dr replied, however it won't let me respond to him so I'll edit this just for him. Yes, I was seen by this Doctor 5 years ago. I have since married, so you probably won't be finding my name (last name) in your database and I'll never call your office for anything. I don't need to discuss a thing with you, Dr. I will suggest that you learn about what small fiber neuropathy is and not to suggest that someone has fibromyalgia and needs to see a Psychiatrist just because you don't know a thing about this disease. What you need to do is refer patients with severe sensory nerve pain for some biopsies to check for small fiber neuropathy (or do the biopsy yourself, since you think you're such a great neurologist) instead of telling them that they're basically crazy because YOU didn't understand the symptoms. And because YOU think you know everything, YOU blow off your patients physical symptoms and just blame it on them (like they're lying or have some sort of psychological condition) all because your ego is so big that you just can't admit "I don't know what is wrong but I'll refer you to someone who may". Heaven forbid you'd admit that! Perhaps if you had picked up a medical journal over the past 12 years or so and took time to learn about newer neurological diseases and kept yourself educated on your own field of study and practice, you'd have known about small fiber neuropathy and the biopsies available for neurologists to test their patients. I beg of you to do that, learn about small fiber neuropathy with mixed autonomic neuropathy, so you can better treat those unfortunate patients who end up having to be seen by you, bless their hearts. If you don't, you'll still be telling people the same thing.... "it's just fibro and nothing is wrong with you". Then giving them the exact same treatment plan you give to dang near every other patient of yours (with all types of completely different diseases/diagnosis yet your treatment plan for your patients are the same, it doesn't make sense) which is....a medication, see a Psychiatrist, and dry needling (thanks for that btw, made it a lot worse) and "see me again in 3 months". I would never plan on seeing you again. I had to find another neurologist who could help diagnose me. That new neurologist even asked me who I saw first. When I said your name, the Dr literally rolled their eyes. No respect from your peers either, so I guess your poor reputation precedes you. You're the worst and I hope you change and become more humble so you can finally become a better doctor. As it stands now, you suck! Worst Doctor I've ever seen in my life. Nobody from his office or Dr. Benz had called me back for the last 6 months. I called him every other week and nobody returned my call.
I went to Dr Benz for memory . In the process of examining me. He found tightness in my neck and shoulders. I explained to him that I had had whiplash a few years ago that went untreated. He ordered a MRI And sent me to Benchmark PT for treatment of dry needle and PT. I had gone to 4 different neurologist and he was only one who got me the right treatment. My headaches are mostly gone and my memory is coming back. I also did sleep study. But refused to wear anything while I sleep. I have trouble sleeping and he was ok with my decision. If I die in my sleep...I have had a great life and God has decided he wants me.
I have no problem with Dr. Benz but this office is nasty. There are water stains on the carpet. Most of the chairs in the waiting room are disgusting and the ones in the exam rooms are even worse!!! They definitely need to update. I left feeling completely dirty.
Dr Benz take as much time as we need. He explains everything in terms that are understandable. Extremely patient and kind. We highly recommend him.
I went to Dr. Benz in December 2018 for migraines. In May 2019 I had a follow up with him and he ordered an MRI of my Cervical Spine. The morning after the MRI was completed the Radiologist provided the results to Dr. Benz. That following week I called the Radiologist's office to see if I could get a copy of the results since I had not heard from Dr. Benz yet. The copy was faxed to me within 10 minutes. The results indicated issues with my C3/C4 but also called out a lump on my Thyroid. Being someone that has had Thyroid Cancer in the past I called my primary immediately. Dr. Benz NEVER called me or followed up with me regarding the MRI Results. I am truly disappointed and cannot believe that he could not even call me to let me know anything. If I hadn't followed up with the Radiologist, I would never had known that there was issues with my neck or the lump on my thyroid. I have cancelled my future appointment and would never recommend Dr. Benz.
After my husband had a stroke, he was referred to Dr Benz. My husband also has peripheral artery disease in both legs. Dr Benz did a complete exam and started asking questions. He highly suggested that my husband see a cardiologist due to has history of stroke and PAD. Long story short .....quadruple bypass. He would have not lived another six months. I sought out Dr. Benz for a second opinion. I was having severe, debilitating migraines. The first neurologist's diagnosis was ridiculous and I knew there had to be more to my migraines. Made an appointment to see Dr. Benz. I found him to be very personable, meticulous, and thorough in the questions he asked and the diagnosis he recommended. He treated my husband and I with respect and he really cared about the outcome of his diagnosis & recommended treatment. Just had my follow-up visit and we were both pleasantly pleased with the outcome. My headaches have subsided and aren't nearly the intensity they once were. I return in six months for another follow-up. I have already recommended a friend to see him regarding her migraines. Also, noted that the staff was pleasant, helpful, and very courteous to the patients. Definitely a good experience overall! Thank you Dr. Benz & Staff. I sought out Dr. Benz for a second opinion. He seemed unnecessarily rough with the exam and test. He made a lot of assumptions about my medical history without asking, rattled off a lot of terms (I happened to know), and then didn't answer questions or suggest follow-up.
This supposed Doctor gets zero stars, wants to take me off of some of my medication that is helping & put me back on medication that i had severe SIDE EFFECTS, start me on multiple new medication , dry needling, counseling, water therapy & my weight down drastically before my 4 month followup. also requesting another sleep study when the first 1 showed nothing, NOW THE BIG KICKER, I'M SUPPOSE TO DO ALL OF THIS WITH A FIXED INCOME & HE SAID MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!!! The Arrogance!!!!
Misdirected me 3 times. 1) Migraines-no help-continued Zomig Nasal sprays I've used for years. 2) Sent me for PT that was so painful ignoring my (Lupus/fibro/nerve) issues. 3) Refused my req 3 years ago, my Rheumy ordered a hand/arm nerve study; Doc says I have carpel tunnel in both hands - no questions, just ran out of there! We were shocked! Want results, but he is on vacation for a month. Aug 8 is going to be a long wait! Please note that Murrells Inlet gets ALL 5's because those gals rock!

I had been a Patient of Dr.Benz for a year and a half, I had no issue with him it was with his Medical Assistant Sherry. From the first visit to the last she never got one thing correct , whether It was getting a Fax & sending it back involved 3-4 calls! Getting an IV INFUSION ASAP took her 2 weeks she had the wrong FAX # ! Booking a Procedure in the wrong office, I traveled an hour each way ! I complained to her Supervisor & the Dr. called me & DISMISSED MISSED AS HIS PATIENT ,I DID No WRONG!

My mother has suffered from trigeminal neuralgia for over a decade. Shes been diagnosed by multiple doctors/neurologists and was also placed on disability years ago. She cant eat/drink anything too cold, cant be around wind (not even a ceiling fan), cant be around bright lights or loud sounds, cant be touched on the face without feeling excruciating pain, & can hardly produce a smile. This doctor did nothing for her & blamed it on "headaches", such a pompous man. We'd rather drive to Charleston

Dr. Benz was very professional he addressed all of my concerns and conducted the tests he felt was beneficial to determine what was wrong with me. His staff at the Murrells Inlet Office were Excellent. His staff at the Myrtle Beach Office have bad attitudes, they were disrespectful and truly made me feel worse emotionally than I did physically.
