Dr. Spiegel was amazing. He was able to isolate what was causing my chronic abdominal pain that had been going on since 2006. He explained everything to me in a professional manner. I highly recommend him. His staff is friendly and very helpful.

Do not go here for weight loss surgery. My wife and I have been entrapped into huge medical bills that everyone at their office is saying is normal. No one can do anything to help since it is an elective surgery. The billing department just wants to make the sale and does not care if their estimate is 10's of thousands off. He did amazing with me.

Had my surgery in 2014 Dr Spegiel has a great bed side manner was always concerned with my health . To me he would be my choice of Weightloss Drs.

Dr Spiegal was great! He really took the time to get to know me as a person told me everything to expect from my surgery . I felt as though he and his team was genuinely excited for my results right a long with me! Thank you so much for everything! 100 pounds down!

Dr. Spiegel did my procedure a year ago and my results are awesome energy level is great and I feel so much better. My experience was the best Dr.Spiegel's bed side manner is one of the top 5, he's personnel and caring to your needs.

He is good but has a stale bedside manner. Really doesn't listen to what you have to say.

He doesn't give the pain meds as needed!???? Has operated on my daughter three time in last two weeks!???? I don't know if we are done!!!

I'm sorry not happy my band has been defective therefore spiegal expects me to pay 15,000.00 again to repair my port!! So if your band screws up mechanically you are screwed spiegal had no compassion! So think twice! I have never even heard from him again or staff unless I have full coverage or 15,000.00 to 30,000.00 ! Yes true!

I got a Lap Band in 2013, mostly due to the lower cost and the flexibility of the adjustable band. Over the first year, I lost about 50 pounds. But...I rarely ate a meal when I didn't have to excuse myself to the restroom to "foam." The results were great, but there were so many symptoms to work around. Last year (2019), my Lap-Band started to fail. I wasn't able to maintain my weight loss and I was having really bad stomach pain. True Results did my original surgery, so since they are no longer around, I had to shop for a new surgeon. Dr. Spiegel was not at the top of my list then, but he is now!!! He removed my Lap-Band, along with tons of scar tissue and replaced it with a Gastric Sleeve. Two days of discomfort and it's been amazingly simple since then. I lost 30 pounds in the first 3 months and continue to maintain/lose every month. Dr. Spiegel and his staff did everything before and after my surgery to take care of me.

No bedside manner, gives you a price for the surgery and aftercare as a self-pay patient. He doesn’t honor the self-pay price you were given. It went from $100 an appointment to $600 an appointment for after-care. After Surgery invoices in the amount of about $1500 after you paid the quoted $13,000 before surgery. No issues during surgery to elicit this additional costs.

After reading these reviews, I have decided to NOT take my business to this Doctor. Anytime these allegations are made about a person, who has your life in THEIR hands, I think it is only fitting for them to respond in a public format as to show that they actually care enough to read your reviews and rectify or at least make time to call that person back and speak to them about their concerns. This place is a definite NO for me. I was actually concerned that maybe this doctor may have an air of arrogance and this totally proves to me that there may be some truth to his few poor reviews. I am sorry to the lady who shared her story of miscommunication between the two Offices in Woodlands and Galleria and died for 7 minutes due to this "negligence". NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY?" Really??? Getting started was fine. The dietitian was very nice and helpful. Getting approved and the procedure was fine. I had a lap and a few years ago worst decision ever. Too tight, you throw up...even in my sleep! I ended up having it emptied. I would like to have it revised for a sleeve, but the cost is astronomical. No one should still be doing bands. My issue is knowing what I really needed, the doctor said "well if you want it, sure, ok" versus, "here is why that isn't likely to be effective for you and there is a better option". The offices revision rates are sky high.i dont have an issue with the office, I have an issue with the band and not getting the full picture of how much fulls would cost due to insurance. Dr. Spiegel is always honest and straight to the point. Staff is very courteous. I got a portion plate which is really an eye opener and some delicious chips. For free! Lol.

Definitely recommend Dr.Spiegle great bed side manner, no complications after surgery. Staff is great all my questions were answered. Thank you Dr.Spiegle for saving my life.

Dr. Speigal is a great doctor and I never had problems with his staff. However, because of a mistake that I clearly heard and saw them make, it has change my life forever. He put my lap band in perfectly. However, with one of his office visits, he was full and I was asked did I mind driving over to the Woodlands for a fill over there. I agreed. When I went there, I was standing there and the lady (will not call her name) clearly said, "Oh they didn't send her file. Let me call the other office. She spoke with lady in that office (will not call her name but I DO KNOW) and she just said let me get you the information. She told her how much I had in my band and we went from there. When it was time to go back to office visit at the original office, the Woodlands office did NOT send back the information they put in so the Galleria office went by what they had in my file folder from before the Woodlands visit. Well they overfilled it. I would eat and throw-up in my sleep which caused my lungs to keep filling with fluid and I kept getting pneumonia. I would fall out in many places and I kept going to the ER but nobody knew what the problem was. FInally, I went into Cardiac Arrest and I actually died for seven minutes and it was by the grace of GOD that I am here now. I came back through the Grace of GOD and was in a coma for 19 days. However, because of the seven minutes, my brain is scarred.I have had seizures and blackouts amongst other things, I lost my house and savings and couldn't work for eight months. The doctors didn't expect me to come back normally and thought that I would have to learn to do everything all over again and would never be able to live by myself again. BUT THROUGH THE GRACE OF GOD... I just don't think that it is fair that he is still living his plush life and I am over here suffering and lost everything because of miscommunication on his part. I can't sue him because lawyers don't want to take the case because Medical Malpractice only goes up to 250K and they don't feel that it is worth it. I was actually dead for seven minutes with the machines off and waiting for the morgue people to come and get me but my wonderful doctor left a paper and walked back into the room and saw that I had started breathing again... (BY THE GRACE OF GOD)! I am angry. Dr. Speigal is a wonderful doctor and his staff was always nice to me but I clearly remember the mistake on their endand who was standing there when it went down and I am salty, more poor and worse off than what I was. He put the band in perfectly but they miscommunicated about how much was in my band and over-filled it to 9.8 cc and my band holds 10cc's. THANK YOU DR. SPEIGAL and staff. I lost but I guess in a way, I won because I am still here and GOD has a mission for me. I should be paid back for what I lost from you while you are still driving your Mercedez, Jags, Benz's, Porsche and living inyour multi-million dollar house while I ended up on the short end of the stick. It's been 5 years since my duodenal switch procedure with Dr. Spiegel. I'm still doing great. I lost even more weight than I originally expected and I've been able to keep it off. From 440 lbs to now 185 lbs.

Not only is he what i have been looking for to end my journey oin weight loss, his staff is amazing as well. I needed a doctor for follow-up to keep me accountable and help me get to the end of my journey. After divorce a year unable to move due to cancer and life in general i thiught all hope was lost, Then i found De. Dr. Spiegel and his staff are horrible. When I first met with him I wanted to get my lap band revised to the gastric sleeve. Later I decided to change it to the bypass instead of the sleeve. This change was NEVER noted in my records so that the insurance company was notified and so that my caseworker, Toni was aware. Toni blamed ME for not notifying her. I always had issue getting a hold of Toni and she would never call me back. She was always short with me and sometimes very rude. The day of my approval from my insurance company my case worker decided to tell me that the assistant surgeon is an "out of network" doctor and that the cost would be extra for that since the deductible was different. My insurance company was willing to make him "in network" at his request for my case and the doctor REFUSED to request it because they are all about the money!!!! My in network deductible was $900 and my cost was $3300 all because of the out of network fees!!! They NEVER notified me of this throughout my WHOLE 6 MONTH nutrition program. He never remembered who I was and neither did my caseworker. Then I went to get my medical records because I decided to switch doctors, and they attempted to withhold some of my records from me! NO WAY would I EVER recommend this doctor. They are all about money (and so is every other doctor in Houston). I seriously had to go out of state to avoid out of network costs! Dr. Spegiel staff is wonderful! Sorry I can't say the same about him. He so arrogant and does not listen to his patience. You have to listen to your patience everyone is different! Dr. Spegiel perform the sleeve on me Feb. 23 he never came to see me I saw him down stairs while walking. He refuse to give a pain med that would work for me. I was brought back in the hospital Feb. 28 for fluid because since surgery I haven't been able to hold anything down including water. My follow up visit to his office was Feb. 29 and him knowing all the complications he still sent me home not listening to his patience. March 2 I'm admitted back in hospital with hemoglobin level low my sugar 55 and dehydration. He was paid good money for my surgery and I was to have more work done but I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND DR. Spegiel TO ANYONE. I'm currently looking for another surgeon to take over his case. Do NOT use this man he cares about the money more than patience. Dr. Spegiel staff is wonderful! On my first visit, I didn't qualify due to my BMI. But for the past 5 years I have steadily gained weight, no matter what I do. I qualified on the 2nd visit a year later. I am looking forward to being a healthier me. The staff was so nice. They remembered me from my first visit. Dr. Spiegel was very nice and explained all of the different types of bariatric surgery. I chose the sleeve. I know this is going to get my diabetes back in check, help my joints, give me more energy and I can't wait
