Eric Charles Marcalus

He is easy to talk to, is a single practitioner and has no backup except his nurse The times I called at his home it was very uncomfortable. I do not like being diagnosed and medicated over the phone or by a message on the web site.

Eric Marcalus is THE best physician I've ever had. A few years ago, I suddenly developed a "fever of unknown origin" that lasted more than 6 months. During that time, Dr. Marcalus ran every blood test there is, I think; and then he sent me to an infectious disease doctor, a rheumatologist, and other specialists to rule out EVERYTHING......the last step was going to be a bone marrow biopsy, which I declined - because the fever was becoming intermittent by then, and was usually only 1 degree higher then normal......in the end, the fever just faded away with no damage or effects; however, I will be forever grateful that Dr. M had my back throughout a very dark time....... :) Eric Marcalus is THE best physician I've ever had. Very knowledgeable, takes his time with me, coordinates my many health care requirements. My initial visit was well over an hour. Also, Dr. Marcalus has a great sense of humor, and is a lot of fun.

My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Eric C. Marcalus for 20+ years and during this time I was diagnosed with stage IV head and neck cancer and was informed that I was in critical condition by all of my doctors. Dr. Marcalus was the one who first diagnosed my cancer and referred me to all of the specialist that I would need to utilize to try and beat the odds, which were not good. Through all of this, Dr. Marcalus was always in our corner providing any and all guidance that one would need when you are facing a certain calling of death at the doorway. Dr. Marcalus is a true caring and professional doctor and I certainly am far from wealthy, but through the grace of God and the caring of all my doctors, including Dr. Marcalus I can say "Thank You" for all of your kindness. My wife and I both whole heartily would recommend Dr. Marcalus to anyone that wants the best in the business. I believe Dr. Marcalus and his practice went the direction they did, because he wanted to be able to spend as much time as necessary with each and every patient and it shows with my 30-60 minute visits I have with him anytime I need it. Great listener. Has a great attitude on life . He is a doctor who really cares for his patients. If you make him your doctor you won't be disappointed.

He is the best physician I have ever had. Extremely thorough and knowledgeable, I have never had such a detailed exam and medical report before. He took two hours with me making sure he answered all my questions and concerns. Plus he is wonderful to talk to and had very good medical suggestions. As a retired gastroenterologist whose long-term internist had also retired, I needed to find a new doctor. For obvious reasons, I wanted somebody considerably younger than I. Having collaborated with Dr. Marcalus in the care of a number of patients, I had always been impressed with his quality of practice, enough so that I asked him, and he agreed to assume my care. My husband and I began seeing Dr. Marcalus not too long after he began his practice. A neighbor recommended him as a good doctor for diabetes. My husband was a difficult patient who didn’t like doctors but loved Dr. Marcalus. I wouldn’t dream of taking him anyplace else even after he became a concierge doctor. He knows us well and listens to whatever is going on. He has brought meds to my House admittedly close to his office but still it takes time. He cared for my husband right up to his end. Love the approach to health from a doctor you get to know and who knows you. Handles all aspects of my care professionally. You can reach him whenever you need him and he takes time to listen to you and your concerns. I highly recommend Dr. Marcalus. Love Dr. M and Renee and Shelby. I also really like the MDVIP platform. It sounds like an ad but I seriously do not have time to be sick! The doc is great and I trust him. Office is wonderful.

Dr. Marcalus delivers on his promise and lives up to the MDVIP objectives. Couldn't be happier. When I've needed a referral, he is able to point me in the very best direction. High quality, personal, and efficient health care--who would have believed that really existed today???

I have been a patient for over 15 years and have found that Dr. Marcalus is attentive to my concerns, conservative in his approach, and takes time to educate me about how best to maintain my health. His staff are professional, knowledgeable, and responsive.

Dr. Marcalus has been our family's doctor for a few years now and my husband's since he opened his practice in Edgewater many years ago. He is very personable, easy to talk to, and is quick to respond to emails and phone calls. We can usually get same day appointments with no wait. Because he is an MDVIP doc he has the time to treat the whole person. Annual physicals are at least two hours with the first hour dedicated to reviewing health history and a physical exam and the second going over your labs and talking one on one. He truly cares about his patients and and we feel being a part of the MDVIP family is worth the additional cost. The care he has shown for our handicapped son goes above and beyond any care he has received from other physicians. We thorough enjoyed his recent family night he sponsored after hours and hope they continue. We got to meet his family and there was great food and beverages, bounce house for the kids and awesome prize giveaways. And Dr. Marcalus' office staff is top notch! I find it almost impossible to rate Dr. Marcalus...there is not another doctor I've ever observed (and due to taking care family members, I've experienced over 200 through the years!) that I would entrust my health and my family's health so unequivocally. To delineate, his bedside manner is both easy-going and sincere, his medical is vast and comprehensive, he truly cares about each of his patients and follows their healthcare with alacrity! I give him the highest accolade; he is a Good Man!

Dr. Marcalus has been our Dr, for many years. We feel very lucky to have him as our primary care doctor He always quickly responds to our calls and answers our questions and concerns. He is a doctor that really takes a personal interest in his patients. We not only think of Dr Marcalus as an excellent doctor but also a good friend. Dr. Marcalus is the doctor we all wish we had and those that do, are so grateful. He is attentive, responsive, and professional. My mother passed away without one of her doctors there. I joined MDVIP so that would never happen to me. That event was tragic for our family and until hospice (the angels) told us she had 2 weeks to live, we had no idea. Unless they are a member of MDVIP, they will never know. Thank you, thank you.

Dr Marcalus has consistantly provided excellent, thorough care in the many years my husband & I have been his patients. He is a wonderful part of my team of doctors that keep me healthy and functioning in spite of my complicated medical needs. His MDVIP practice provided me with coordinated care and peace of mind while spending time in Florida.

Dr. Marcalus went from a decent doctor with an awkward-but-straightforward bedside manner and rapport to a money and cost-focused time bomb. His switch to concierge medicine is clearly a play to push out all but the most wealthy patients in Edgewater and Annapolis. I had been a young patient of the doctor's for a year. He was recommended to me. His practice sent out a notice that they were switching to a concierge model, which if you don't know, involves paying $1,200+ a year in addition to your co-pays and insurance. His letters didn't mention that small detail. When I called and a family member also inquired, Dr. M lost it, screaming that he "has thousands of patients and can't be concerned with the problems of one considering joining my practice." I would avoid this doctor. Granted, the state of healthcare in this country is challenging and how it's going to affect patients and doctors is unclear. But here's what is clear: some doctors are going to tack away from a patient-focused care model to a cost/revenue-driven model. Doctor Marcalus is one of those doctors. If you're joining his practice for perceived closer-care and 24-7 access, take this vignette as a warning. This doctor doesn't care about you. The doctor's Hippocratic Oath seems to have been to the wayside: he doesn't seem to care what harm he does.
