Dr. Carlson and the team were awesome. They operated on my wife's odontogenic keratocyst in 2007 and were informative, caring and all-around excellent. The UMD-Baltimore Dr we first consulted was a cancer specialist and he wanted to cut out a section of her jaw, replace it with a section of her leg. 10 hours of surgery, 3 days in a "pain-coma" and 7 more days in ICU, then PT to learn to walk again, and an ugly face. My wife almost fainted when that doctor suggested that. Dr. Carlson explained that he would lift the skin around the jaw and then go in an scrape out the cyst growth. This might have been 5 hours at the most and one night in the hospital, then back home. Lesson learned - always get at least 2 opinions! We are forever thankful. Been seeing him for years. Always nice and informative. Just expect a two to three hour wait. Always.

Did an excellent job in taking out the tumor for my stepfather but he and his residents are not very friendly and I feel like they don't have good bed manners. He seems to always be in a hurry!

My husband recently had his 4 yr FU appt, with Dr. Carlson. Dr. Carlson was just as professional, caring, and dedicated as in the initial appt. One can tell he is dedicated in providing the best possible medical service available. He is one of the most compassionate, knowledgeable, skilled doctor we have ever met and you can tell he loves his job.

I had a rare cyst on my mandible. Dr. Carlson was amazingly professional and helped me. I’ve lived 16 years since surgery perfectly fine. Thank you Dr. Carlson.
