I would never go back here again. I am so disgusted with this practice I don't have words. They did cryotherapy procedures on 4 moles, 2 they said would be covered under insurance because they looked suspicious, and 2 were cosmetic that cost $15 each. My insurance did not cover the procedures as I had a deductible, and the costs for those two as billed to insurance was $343. And that's not the charge for the office visit which was covered by my insurance. The adjusted cost was $160.52 for the exact same procedure as the cosmetic ones. They are now charging me for that adjusted cost even though the procedure was identical to the cosmetic ones, with no biopsies etc. When I called to dispute that charge and explain that it was the exact same procedure and that I should only be charged $30, since they had no problem taking that for the cosmetic treatments, they refused to adjust the charge and said they would send it to collections if I didn't pay it. I talked to both the billing person and the office manager, and what seems like an obvious act of both taking advantage of the system and overcharging the patient was not in any way met with any acknowledgement or understanding of what they were doing. If it wouldn't hurt my credit I would never pay them this money, they don't deserve it. They should be ashamed of themselves. I would never go back here again. I’ve been seeing dr.Patel for a few years now, they do get heavily backed up so I’d advise making your appointment about 6 months in advance. The waiting I have no problem with, my issue is the lack of professionalism I’ve seen from Dr.Patel. Every time I go in for my acne she complains about the birth control I’m on and constantly tells me to go on something different. I tell her every time, I am not willing to go on something different this birth control I’m on it the only one I’ve found that works so no I’m sticking with this one. She constantly asks why I’m taking certain medications and I have to numerously explain to her the reason I’m on antidepressants. Which I don’t understand why Dr.Patel needs to know why I’m on certain medications and tells me which ones I should and shouldn’t use when it has nothing to do with my skin. A few times now she has made me explain to her the scars on my arms after I’ve already explained how I’ve gotten them when I first saw her. My issue is how invasive of my personal privacy. Instead of taking a note or two about why I’m on certain medications and why I have scars I have to repeatedly explain myself. Also when she prescribed me an oral pill for my acne I asked her about the side effects and she looked at me as if I were dumb and told me I shouldn’t have any dryness or irritation in my skin and that’s all she was willing to tell me. I had to learn from my dad who was also in the (at that time I was still a minor) and he told me he’s taken that medication before and the only side effect was being lactose intolerant. That’s information I would like that given the fact that I’m vegetarian and rely on dairy as a source for my protein. (Which I did tell her I was vegetarian). The only reason I continue to go to her is because she Is very well educated in dermatology and knows what she’s doing. But I might switch to another dermatologist is this behavior doesn’t stop. I constantly feel like I have to argue the validity of my medications, and my diet when I shouldn’t have to. Dr. Restivo and Dr. Patel were both very thorough and took the time to explain everything very clearly. I feel confident I have the right team on my case. Such nice staff in the office.
