I was given honest advice about my problem from Dr Slade. I appreciate his honesty even if it wasn’t what I was hoping for.

As an Army OT Tech. I would look forward to working on Dr. Slade’s cases. He took the time and care to set his pt’s up for the most successful outcomes. Without a doubt I would trust him to complete my own surgeries. SFC(R) Borrego WBAMC

I just got my stitches out from my carpal tunnel procedure. Everything from start to finish went perfectly. Almost 0 pain. The doctor, the PA, and the whole staff did their job perfectly with kindness and a smile. I am very glad I got this procedure done at doctor Slade's office.. I haven’t had surgery yet, but I wanted to compliment Marci who is one of Dr Slade’s employees. She is very responsive, organized, and caring. She knew I was anxious about not having a surgery date and made the effort to touch base with me and let me know the status of when I may receive a call from the surgery scheduler. She has followed up at least 2 times to assure me that I will receive a surgery date this year! You have a jewel of an employee, Dr Slade. I was very pleased with the knowledge and performance of PA Casey in the removal intact of a cist 5/16" in diameter in my finger. The operation was quick and unintrusive. It has healed up nicely in 4 days. Top notch medical work.

Two years ago I saw his PA and was injected and surgery suggested. Next visit saw Slate who suggested extensive irreversible surgery with months of recovery time without touching or examining my hand. He based suggestion solely on PA evaluation. Surgery was scheduled. A week later we visited a friend, a retired family practice doc. He injected a steroid along the tendon which removed all pain for two years. Now the pain returned. Went to Slade PA again and related pain relief from tendon injection. PA immediately returned to extensive hand surgery and scheduled it. I went to another hand surgeon who said maybe if I lived long enough I might need surgery but definitely not now. He recommended a brace and the hand is better. He also recommended another tendon injection which I will get next week.

If I could, I would give a 0. My husband has gone through 14 months of pain in his left hand. Every week phy therapy, wrong, wrong wrong. We meet with another hand Dr. in Utah County, 10 min procedure, in his office. My thoughts, wrong Dr. down here. We need more than one choice.

Dr. Slade and his PA are wonderful. I would give those two a 5 star rating, but I can only give 2 because of his MA, Becca. My son plays football. He had a cast on for a thumb injury for 3.5 weeks. During that time, he practiced a LOT in the heat and it was disgusting. Not only that, but the padding wore away and by the second week it was cutting him in multiple places. The padding got soaked from sweat and was rubbing away skin. I called the office and they said they wouldn't take off the cast until he could be seen by either the PA or the Dr. I promised that he wouldn't practice or lift before seeing one of the two but they refused to cut the stinky thing off. So, when I knew he only had film the night before the appt, I helped him cut that nasty thing off. When we got in to the office, she railed on him letting him know that he had wasted her time in putting the cast on in the first place, how it would probably now need surgery and that he has caused a life long injury without even knowing that the cast had been off for less than 20 hours. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but the sweet girl (Danielle?) who struggled to get this cast on straight on his huge hand 3.5 weeks ago, got forced help from Becca, and now that I know her true nature, I feel bad for the cute young girl trying to learn. She'll never learn under Becca's reign of terror because Becca is truly not a nice person. Dr. Slade and his PA are wonderful. Was referred to Dr Slade by insatcare after injuring my collateral tendon in my ring finger. Not impressed! I called his office 2 days later and he had the referral. His MA called me back later and told me to buddy tape my fingers and he will see you next week. I finally called back 2 days before my appt as the finger wasn't seeing any improvement they did get me in that afternoon. He told me surgery wasn't used much on this injury and to keep it taped for 4 weeks which i did. I started removing the tape for a while daily. I called his office last wednesday Mar 6th still haven't heard from him. In my opinion not very professional. I'm on my way to another ortho. We went to Dr. Spade for a wound on the hand. Dr. Slade apparently doesn't know the various ways to treat wounds, and continued to treat us until it was too late - the wound was too severe by the time we found the Wound Clinic. My father eventually had to have his finger amputated. At least the Wound Clinic was able to heal his two other fingers (Dr Spade planned on amputating them as well.) I went in for a simple carpel tunnel & ulner release surgery on my lot hand & arm. Dirk decided to do a ulner transposition, which means he's completely relocated the ulner nerve. As I have talked to other Drs they made statements of: you don't mess with nerves. Plus, he didn't put me in a splint which was done on my rt arm without a transpostion. All he did was wrap my arm in an ace bandage. Ultimately I had to much movement to early, and the ulner nerve is pinched like an HR glass & I have lost feeling in my ring & pinky fingers 1/2 of my hand & down into my wrist leading towards my elbow. I brought all of these problems & he stated that sometime things don't always work out the way we would like. Then told me to go to IHC risk management dept. They told me the same thing as he did. They told me to go find a lawyer & sue them. I couldn't find a lawyer that would take my medical malpractice law suit in the whole state of ut. I can not recommend Dr. Dirk Slade as a Dr. to anyone. Basically I wouldn't recommend any IHC Dr. as IHC is run as a business for profit & not for medical help & healing. If I didn't have to rate a 1 star just to leave my comment I would of of given a minus 5. I went in for a simple carpel tunnel & ulner release surgery on my lot hand & arm. Did an amazing job fixing my broken ulna from a horse accident. Hated that it took so long for my bone to heal, but it did, and I'm back in the saddle again!! I have full range of motion and very little residual pain. Thanks for all of the hardware in my wrist Dr. Slade!!! *_*

Dr Slade is great. He is talented and patient focused, as is the medical team. I have had trouble with the admin side of the practice, mainly not returning phone calls. So medical side, top notch, admin side, perhaps overworked or something, but it was frustrating to not get calls returned. Other than that, he's operated on me 3 times, and while surgery sucks no matter how good, he and his medical team were top notch. Dr Slade is great. I met Dr. Slade after an accident I had while hiking in the Narrows, part of the Zion National Park. I had an accident which involved my left middle finger and index finger (crushing type amputation with fractures of both fingers). I assumed that I would be living the rest of my life with a significantly smaller left index finger due to the fact that I was 3 1/2-4 hours away from an emergency room. Dr. Slade did and exceptional job in reattaching/reconstructing my finger, it looks great! I felt Dr. Slade was such a competent and compassionate physician I opted to continue my followup care with him, I live in Las Vegas, NV-this is a two hour drive from my home to his office, it was well worth the time!
