I had an amazing experience with Dr Hammond and his staff. I felt genuinely cared for from start to finish and and obsessed with my results. I came to Dr Hammond needing a breast reduction and from my original consultation he made me feel so comfortable and he seemed to view my case as a work of art and not just like another case. His fellow, Dr. Yang, and him did such a fantastic job from start to finish. My nurses, Joanne and Megan, made the experience enjoyable and comfortable. I’m only 2 weeks post op and so happy, I can’t wait to see the final results after I am completely healed.

I had a consult back in August 2021. I was told at appointment I was all set when I went to pay there was no charge. Now in April 2022, they have a new office manager Tanya who has taken over and decided that I am not all set? Being sent to collections over money I do not owe. See letter below. If your just as nervous as I was about choosing a plastic surgeon, rest assured your search ends here! I was new to all of this and not sure where to turn for my surgery. I cannot speak highly enough of Dr. Hammond abs the staff at his office. I had a mommy makeover 2 weeks ago (flank Lipo, muscle repair, tummy tuck, breast lift and augmentation) I cannot believe how absolutely incredible I look already. I cried when I saw myself. I once visited Mr. Hammond for his opinion, after having a bilateral mastectomy done by a general surgeon in Saginaw. I complained that the result of the surgery was triggering my scziophrenia, and he felt that my mental health status, as a result of this surgery, was not his problem. One of his residents took it upon himself to use my PTSD, as an excuse for his disrespectful bedside manner. Ive never felt so deserving of feeling hideous and unworthy of happiness toward my body in my whole life. I highly recommend Dr. Hammond and his staff! I met with Dr. Hammond after receiving what I believe, was a horrible botched DMX job at another practice. I was in the throes of a Breast Cancer nightmare and Dr. Hammond was kind, he listened (actually listened). Most of all, Dr. Hammond and his staff gave me hope that I would be ok. He did a fantastic job of not only repairing damage done by the prior surgeon, but going out of his way to create beauty out of the chaos of my DMX. He reconstructed and repaired both my body and my faith in surgeons. He truly is an artist. I am from Grand Rapids, Michigan area. When I was looking to have plastic surgery I did some research online of the local plastic surgeons regarding the work I was looking to have done. Although there were many great plastic surgeons in the area, I chose Dr. Dennis Hammond. My procedures were abdomnioplasty, and breast augmentation following weight loss and 2 child births. After reviewing pictures, articles and studies by Dr. Hammond on these procedures I felt confident in my decision. My breast augmentation was an over the muscle smooth implant on both sides. Recovery was not too bad, but I suspect it's because my implants are over the muscle. My procedure was done in November 2017. Since then I have had a few modifications to the breast augmentation, but this is due to another medical issue that Dr. Hammond has been trying to get perfected for me. Each recovery not really requiring loss of work, just modification in exercise routine, etc. Dr. Hammond has been incredibly patient and kind through the process. Regarding the abdomnioplasty it is important to examine your post procedure goals. Are you looking to just have a flat tummy and keep it at that, or are you looking to continue any kind of fitness goal? Recovery for the abdomnioplasty isn't pleasant, but it is manageable and Dr. Hammond and his team do a great job of being sure your pain is under control with regular check ups and phone calls. Once recovery was complete I restarted my fitness routine. My fitness goals are ever changing, but as of late I have been powerlifting for a little while. I have found no disruption in this fitness goal related to either of my surgeries. I can lift very heavy (requiring a very strong core) which is important to remember when the abdomnioplasty is muscle repair with stitches being used. I have had no issues with muscle tears or stitches, etc. with any of my lifts. It has been impressive! Next question is usually about scarring. Scarring has been minimal for the abdomnioplasty. It's very hard to tell there is a scar when I am in a bikini. Breast augmentation scarring I would imagine depends on the type of augmentation you get done. ie: was it a lift and implant, just an implant, etc. that being said, scarring still is minimal due to the type of suture Dr. Hammond uses. Healing is a clean process and easy to manage. I would recommend Dr. Dennis Hammond and his team for your plastic surgery needs. Dr. Hammond did the most fantastic reconstructive surgery on me post breast cancer. I had breast cancer back in 2006 waited until 2007 and 2008 for my Mastectomies. I had reconstruction three times prior to Dr. Hammond. I had also seen numerous Drs. in west Michigan. None of the other Drs. would touch me including my original plastic surgeon that did my first three reconstructions. Dr. Hammond took one look at me and knew exactly how to make me look normal again. After being diagnosed with Invasive Lobular Carcinoma in June 2020, I decided to undergo a bilateral mastectomy as the best treatment option. My breast specialist made me aware of an innovative treatment/reconstruction option that she felt I would be a good candidate for. She said that her colleague, Dr. Dennis Hammond had created a very forward-thinking plan for someone like myself. I met with Dr. Hammond, and we made a plan which was beyond anything I had even imagined! It would be a 3 surgery process. Surgery #1 took place in July, 2020 and would involve the removal of the cancer and several lymph nodes on the right side by my Breast Specialist. Then, during the same surgery, Dr. Hammond would do a slight reduction on the left and Mastopexy (lift). The results of that operation alone were amazing. But, because of my medical history and a gene mutation, I still needed to go forward with the bilateral mastectomy to avoid chemotherapy and radiation. Surgery #2 took place in September, 2020 and was the nipple-sparing, bilateral mastectomy. At the time of surgery, Dr. Hammond placed tissue expanders, over the muscle, to give everything time to heal and to ensure the blood supply to the nipples remained. Surgery #3 took place on December 30, 2020 and involved exchanging the expanders for over the muscle silicone implants and, much to my delight, liposuction of my hips and thighs to be used in fat grafting around my new implants. I look and FEEL amazing!!!! Dr. Hammond is a master at what he does. He told me at the beginning of the process that I was going to be very happy with the results and like how I looked better than when I started. He was right. I am beyond thrilled with how things look already and I'm still swollen and bruised from the surgery (only 1 1/2 weeks out). I am so grateful I was able to take part in this process. I saw Dr. Hammond for a bilateral breast reduction, and it was the best decision I have ever made. The reduction finally made me look proportional, and all of my symptoms (neck pain, back pain, headaches) resolved immediately. Surgery was nearly pain free, and I was back to work in a week. Dr. Hammond completed Liposuction on my chin and neck as well as Breast Augmentation. Dr. Hammond and his staff immediately made me feel comfortable and well informed during my first consultation. I left with a 3-D program on my phone that showed me exactly what I would look like. All of the office staff were extremely helpful answering all of questions. On the day of my procedures, I met a wonderful nurse Joanne who took care of me during and after my procedure. I could not have asked for a more kinder and compassionate nurse. Joanne also text my husband the evening after the surgery to ask how I was. Dr. Hammond did an amazing job!! He did exactly what he told me he was going to do. Dr. Hammond performed my reconstruction after a double mastectomy. He did a wonderful job. I could not be more pleased with the final result. He is very knowledgeable. His staff were helpful as well.

His claim of being influenced by Bo’s commitment to excellence is endearing, but if he cannot maintain that standard with 100% of his patients, he should edit—or omit—that from his website’s biography. Bo, I believe, would even argue that excellence can only be maintained if excellence is brought forth 100% of the time. Dr. Hammond put me back together again after breast cancer. After surgery my husband said to him "you changed a life today". Its true. Were other surgeons said they cannot help, Dr. Hammond took me on and I am as good as new! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I came to Dr. Hammond’s office after a bilateral mastectomy and a very unsatisfactory reconstruction surgery done elsewhere. I researched extensively for best breast reconstruction surgeons in the Midwest. I was willing to travel to find the best of care. Dr. Hammond performed a complete revision in 2016. It was staggering the difference his medical talent plus attention to every detail made. I was shocked at how much better things looked! Three years later, all is still exactly as it’s supposed to be. He and his staff listen to concerns and provide truly world class care - in both surgery and the office. To say the surgery and care I’ve received has truly changed my life and help me rebuild after aggressive breast cancer is not an overstatement. I just had major breast surgery, scar revision and lipo one week ago! I studied doctors for 3 years and money was no object was willing to fly across the world for the best. Then I see the work of Dr Hammond ... his before and after pics. I knew he was my guy! My breast were no easy fix now I look at them and tear up! I have had 4 breast fed kids so you can imagine. He changed how I view my whole body and I have had a smile on my face since that day! He is so knowledgeable with great staff! I cannot say enough positive things about Dr Hammond. He is an absolutely wonder physician. He has treated me on two separate occasions. Both times I felt well taken care of before and after surgery. He is sweet, caring and listens to all your concerns. I Highly Recommend this practice.

Dr. Dennis Hammond is the best of the very best! I have had reconstruction surgery after a “botched” experience following a bilateral non nipple sparing mastectomy. He was a God send to amazingly fix and make me feel whole again. He reconstructed my nipples, as well as performing an inner thigh lift at a later date. Just recently he did an abdominalplasty. Which I am very pleased with all results. Professional skilled kind with awesome after care as well. His office staff as well as surgical staff have worked with him as a team for years, that statement speaks volumes to his leadership and management qualities. I had reconstruction after mastectomy. He was gentle and caring. He is a perfectionist. He said they would look even better than before my surgery, and he was right. The staff is equally as professional.

I cannot begin to express how amazing this doctor is. I have been wanting a breast reduction, seeing 3 physicians for consultations and knew he was the right one. One was all about cosmetic and could care less that I had the pain where Dr. Hammond diagnosed immediately my need for this. I had the procedure on a Tuesday, no drainage tubes, no stiches and on Thursday was up and around, pain free and today it is 10 days and I am thrilled with the results. He’s truly the best!!!

Scars, What Scars.......I just had my 6 month checkup today with Dr. Hammond and he and I are both extremely pleased with the results of my breast reconstruction/lift surgery. It's so much better than I could have ever hoped for and I and my husband are absolutely thrilled with the results. 6 months ago........ I was seeking a plastic surgeon to repair my breasts. Breasts were too high, too big, too hard, nipples too low and in my opinion, just plain awful feeling and looking. My 1st (breast lift) surgery left me with very bad scaring around my areolas. My 2nd surgery, I was very concerned about more scaring, so I asked for implants (hoping, in my mind anyways, that the implant would lift my breasts up to where I wanted them to be without any more scars). I was told "that probably wouldn't work", but I convinced a surgeon to try it for me and of course the surgeons were right, those implants never did settle into place or look right, So, onto the 3rd surgery, 3rd surgery should be the charm, right? Once again, I was in search of another plastic surgeon (preferably one in the GR area), one who could lift and move things back up to where they should be (used to be), if you know what I mean....and with little to no scaring. Well, I finally found him.....during my very first consultation with Dr. Hammond, I knew he was the right surgeon for me, Why? He is confident (kind-of cocky, in a way, which he should be), he knows what he's doing........ he developed the procedure and he is teaching it to other surgeons. During my consult, we discussed my concerns and Dr. Hammond had the answers I was searching for. He finally convinced me by demonstrating; in both drawings and conversation, just how he would accomplish exactly what I was looking for. My husband and I decided to book the surgery and we gave Dr. Hammond complete autonomy to do as he felt appropriate, and I'm so glad I did. I believe the experts; my husband, who says, "honey, your breasts are so soft and beautiful" and Dr. Hammond, who so professionally mentioned to me today during my 6 month checkup saying, "I'm so very pleased with the results of the surgery and scars, what scars". Well, I'm telling you, comments like those have made this 58 year old woman feel fantastic and my mirror just doesn't lie. I am a plastic surgeon who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I have spent my career admiring the work of Dr. Hammond as I saw it during conferences across the country and by learning from his peer review articles and text books. I called Dr. Hammond on my way up to my biopsy before I even knew that I had cancer. I told him what was going on and without missing a beat, he told me to let him know as soon as I needed him and he would take care of everything. He did exactly that. The next week, I was on a plane leaving some of the biggest university centers to fly to Grand Rapids to be treated by the surgeon who I considered the "best in the country". I was not disappointed. I am so thrilled with the results of my surgery. I had a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction and even in the earliest stages of my recovery, my results are beautiful. I feel as if I have had a cosmetic procedure done when in fact along with Dr. Colleen App, my cancer was cured with surgery and my body was restored to normal (or even better than normal). I have admired Dr. Hammond for as long as I have been in training and in the practice of Plastic surgery, and now that I have had first hand experience as the beneficiary of his talent and expertise, all I can say is that "the legend is real"!! We plastic surgeons know this about him and that's why I went far out of my way to have him care for me. He was rude and insulting within the first minute of meeting him. Didn’t listen to my concerns regarding expander pain and said, “i was just going to have to live with it.” He felt it was unecassary to take fluid out of my expanders because i was getting chemo, risk of infection. My oncologist had okayed it and i had just finished a round of antibiotics. Typically i wouldn’t leave a bad review but the last thing i needed during my cancer journey was a doctor that was going to be rude to me.

I met with Dr. Hammond to discuss breast augmentation and a revision to a scar on my belly button. I knew he was a top rated doctor after doing research on him, but my experience at his practice exceeded my expectations. He presented several different tools for helping me decide on the most appropriate size, which included virtual reality goggles. This was such a cool tool to use as I was able to see exactly what my own body would look like with the chosen implants. Dr. Hammond is that surgeon who thinks of new ways to provide better care for his patients. He writes the textbooks from which other surgeons learn.
