Overall, don’t recommend. Pros: Parking is easy, staff are friendly, and appointments are easy to get, even day-of. Wait times are short. Office is clean but not a regular doctor’s office, more of a chiropractic practice he just does medicine out of. Dr. Rekar is high-energy and enthusiastic about his practice. Issues: I never felt he listened to me, and often jumped in with a diagnosis before I finished speaking. He is clearly a competent doctor, because he was often right, but I should not be cut several times trying to explain symptoms. Dr. Rekar believes very strongly in homeopathic remedies, which is great! However he takes it too far. More than once he REFUSED to discuss options of medications with me. Again, I felt he wanted to make decisions about my health without listing to my input. If you want a doc who will diagnose with as little input from you as possible, and never want pharmaceuticals, he could be a good fit for you. However, for most people, I would look elsewhe

I have been a patient of Dr. Rekar for about two years now, but the length of my time with him is very much a testament to my procrastination and disorganization rather than his skill. After each appointment with him, I left thinking “damn, I REALLY need to get a different doctor.” That said, there are some aspects of him and his practice that others may like, so I’ll give some info and let you decide. First, some positives. Parking is really easy at his office! His office staff are also very friendly and accommodating. Cindy, the front office person, has always been extremely pleasant to work with, and has gotten me several last-minute and day-of appointments. The office itself is small but clean and orderly. There are no traditional examination rooms, each room seems to be more of a chiropractic room that he also does general medicine out of, which always gave the impression that my medical needs were actually outside his main purview, although I am not sure that is true. Dr. Rekar is high-energy and enthusiastic about his practice, which is nice to see. However, I had some issues with him. Foremost, I never felt he appropriately listened to me, and often jumped in with a diagnosis before I finished speaking. He is clearly a competent doctor, because he was often right, but I find it incredibly frustrating when a doctor acts as though they, rather than I, am the expert of my body and my experiences. I should not be cut off three times before finally having to say “Dr. Rekar you are not listening to me, please let me finish describing my symptoms.” Secondly, Dr. Rekar believes very strongly in homeopathic and chiropractic remedies. This is itself not a bad thing, in fact I really respect that he does not default to pharmaceuticals. However I feel he sometimes takes it too far. More than once he refused to discuss options of medications with me, insisting, for example, that I eat local honey and take turmeric for my allergies. When pressed if he could at least give me info on the potential OTC medications for me and their pros and cons, he would not listen further to my symptoms and said if it was that important he could refer me to a specialist, but would give no further information himself. He shares his office with chiropractors, and is quick to refer to them (which again, is a positive thing- I have had good experiences with chiropractic care rather than medical pain management), but sometimes brings into question why I am seeing him in the first place, if he will only refer. The final straw was a few months into COVID, when he refused to do a phone or virtual appointment to fill out a form I needed for work. I live with an immuno-compromised person, and in the early days of COVID we went literally nowhere, so I wanted to avoid going to a doctor’s office (where sick people go!) at all costs. The form required no physical examination whatsoever, but he insisted on having me come in person because their office couldn’t figure out how to bill insurances for tele-doc appointments, and would not even entertain the possibility of my paying out of pocket. Again I was frustrated that he seemed unable to unwilling to listen to me before shutting down what I was asking, and I found his insistence on forcing me to put my roommate in danger so his office did not have to deal with teladoc paperwork (which my insurance was covering, no questions asked!) was irresponsible to the point of malice. If you are looking for a doctor who will figure out what is wrong with you with as little input from you as possible, and are someone who wants to avoid pharmaceuticals at all costs, Dr. Rekar could be a good fit for you. However, (and he is a nice man so I feel bad saying it, but) for most people, I would look elsewhere. Doctor’s listening to/respect of patient- 1/5 Options for treatment- 1/5 Ease of appointments- 5/5 Doctor’s competency- 5/5 COVID safety- 0/5 Ease of referrals- 3/5

My review won't hurt your business, your awful service will. I'm not sure how you'd like me to show "evidence" that your services did nothing for me. Also, the fact that Dr. Rekar intentionally posted information about my visits should be a clear sign of his lack of ethics. Confidentiality apparently means nothing to him My review won't hurt your business, your awful service will. Completely disgusting, this old geezer made a sexual advance towards me. I was referred to this office from my attorney who convinced me that I should switch doctors because he could get a bigger kick back from this doctor and I will get "more money in my pocket". It's not worth the extra money I am going to get harassed. His treatments suck also and I still feel really bad. I think I will make a separate complaint against my attorney.
