I have been inpatient at 5 hospitals in 3 years and this is by far the best. I had my 2nd open heart surgery here at 42 years old and Dr Heimansohn and his team are incredible. I spent 3 weeks in the hospital after surgery and the whole atmosphere is the beat it gets in a hospital setting. The floors were full of not just nurses and staff but cheerleaders that help you get to where you need to be and cheer you on to make you feel good. If I could give 100 stars I would!!!

All staff were friendly and helpful. Dr was kind, caring and supportive.

Dr Heimansohn and his staff is are truly in a league of their own. I had an aortic root replacement in 2021 done by Dr Heimansohn. I have never had anyone explain ,inform and made me more comfortable than Jenica, the ladies in the operating room and the recovery floor. Their mindset changes YOUR mindset, your fine, do not worry, we got this, truly professionals and masters of their craft. His whole staff has the best of the best. Dr Heimansohn is a class act and I cannot think him or his nurses enough. It tears me up thinking of how much I was shown care how he and Jenica were there for me months after the procedure. Dr. Heimansohn is absolutely the best. He has an excellent manner, conveys information clearly and directly, and is a wonderful person.

Knowledgeable, experienced MD/CV surgeon with a compassionate, bedside manner. Would not go anywhere else. However I would like to have had the radiologist final report of my Chest CT with Dr. Heimansohn at my F/U visit to discuss with me.

Best heart surgeon ever. Online warnings about pain, wires sticking out, side effects, long-term suffering? I had NONE of these, thanks to Dr. Heimansohn’s unsurpassed expertise and extraordinary care and follow-up.

Everybody in the office was nice, helpful and made me feel calm and comfortable. Dr Heimensohn was nice, professional, and explained everything well. He definitely made me feel secure about having surgery.

Both Doctors where very helpful in explaining detail of the surgery. Put my mine at ease. What impressed me was they didn't have one hand on the door to hurry out. All answer where explained thoroughly to where I could understand.

Top notch team and very friendly!

I had cardiomyopathy for 10 years and meds were no longer working. Dr Heimansohn gave me a new heart and I am a different person. That was 26 years ago and still going strong. He saved my life and I am forever grateful.

Top of the line - David Heimansohn is not only highly regarded by his patients, but also his peers (nurses and other MDs). One of my MD friends put it this way. "I have a tattoo on my chest that says ONLY TO BE OPENED BY DAVID HEIMANSOHN". I do not have any tats, but may get one of these. My cardiologist concurs and says "he is one of the top mitral valve surgeons in the world". Preoperative and postoperative care at the ST V Heart Center wonderful.

I had a virtual visit with Dr. Heimansohn and enjoyed his calm and pleasant manner. He was in consultation with Dr. Hermiller about performing tricuspid valve surgery on me in the near future, he explained the process very well. I am waiting on a call from the surgery department to get it scheduled.

I felt totally at ease with my surgery and was not disappointed with the care I received.

Dr. Heimansohn was fantastic. My dad had a consult for an aortic valve replacement and a triple bypass. He was referred by a local cardiologist who said if it was him having the surgery, this was the guy he'd choose to do it! After the initial consult, he had my dad back within a couple days to do the surgery. He recognized the severity of his symptoms & got him in quickly. We are only 10 days post op, but I can already tell my dad is an entirely different person. He was able to do a great tissue valve replacement, no blood thinners, which is amazing for someone with an active lifestyle who doesn't want to worry about falls & trauma while on blood thinners. Our family is so grateful for the talent he has and the care he provided to my dad! Definitely worth every mile of the drive. Dr. Heimansohn was fantastic. Dr. Heimansohn saved my life 16 years ago with a mitral valve repair, I say repair not replace which makes a big differnence in quality of life. 5 years ago I developed A-fib, Dr Olsen took over, after medication failed he gave me and ablation, brought back my quality of life again. These 2 doctors in conjuntion with Dr Hermiller (cardioligist) are the best in the country at what they do!!! Go to the St Vincent Heart Hospital in Carmel, Indiana and you'll have the best!!!

I can never thank Dr Heimonsohn properly for his gift of life to my husband. We’re a few hours away, but due to my husband’s advanced heart & kidney disease Dr Heimonsohn saw him within a few days after referral. My husband was 58 yrs old and given no hope by a thoracic surgeon in my area. It was devastating. After seeing my husband and reviewing test results, Dr Heimonsohn scheduled surgery on Christmas Eve day. Yes, he came in on Christmas Eve day! I know this Dr was a true miracle from God! My husband received three new bypasses. His heart was good but Dr Heimonsohn said to get my husband on a kidney transplant list. He said his heart will outlast his kidneys. We followed his advice. It’s been over a year of multiple tests done by a Transplant team. My husband just received a denial by mail! Their Board determined his heart would not be strong enough for a new kidney. I called and asked for notes but they said the decision was made verbally and there are no notes. My stepdaughter is a match and wants desperately to give her Dad a kidney and another chance at life. We are prayerfully hopeful we will find another Dr with a different Transplant team. If the Dr is as talented as Dr Heimonsohn it will be a success! 6 1/2 years ago Dr. Heimansohn replaced my rapidly failing Aortic valve. My aorta had closed to about a pencil width with stenosis. I was up and out pretty quickly after surgery and completely recovered within a year. I ride a bicycle 6 days a week and am back to vigorous exercise. My results, this far out from my surgery, are nothing short of amazing. I was blessed to find Dr. Heimansohn. He restored my life.

Dr, Heimansohn is the best surgeon you will find in the country. He performed mitral valve repair on my husband in July 2006 and was one of the few surgeons at the time to remove the left atrial appendage. This not only drastically reduced any risk of stroke, but also allowed him to be completely off of blood thinners! Today, in 2020 they are using a new technique “watchman” on the appendage preventing strokes. But Dr. Heimansohn was way ahead of his time removing the appendage. I can’t thank him enough! Nor can my husband. He has saved his life. He has prolonged his life at age 71. My husband couldn’t feel better 14 years later. Thank you so much Dr. Heimansohn!! ???? God bless you!

Dr. Heimansohn is a world class cardiothoracic surgeon. He was very patient and answered all of my questions when making the difficult decision between a tissue valve or a mechanical. Based off of my echo a repair didn't seem feasible, but during my surgery the my leaflets were ok to make the repair vs replacement. Dr. Heimansohn is one of a select handful of surgeons doing this type of complex repair and I couldn't be happier. My quality of life is excellent, and I'm thrilled that I do not have to take Coumadin. I have the privilege of leading a full life while raising my 3 children. Dr. Heimansohn did a triple bypass and mitral valve repair on me July1, 2013. I was 63 and a United Airlines Captain at the time. I was extremely interested in getting back in the cockpit before my mandatory retirement age of 65 was reached. It is an uphill battle after heart surgery with FAA requirements, but I had a lot of confidence in Dr. Heimansohn as he came highly recommended. He did an absolutely flawless job. I flew my last year as a B777 Captain for United flying worldwide schedules.
