Dr. Halpert did not even do a complete neurological exam on our 9 year-old daughter. She had abrupt onset OCD, rage, suicidal thoughts, a known Lyme infection, and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. She had no reflex responses and missed his finger when doing the finger to nose test (the ONLY tests he had her do- oh and Romberg's test, but had her do it with eyes open and turned her back to her as she tried to do it). When I asked if her reflexes were okay (which they obviously weren't), he said, "I don't know, I think so?" He had no idea what ILADS was (meaning he is not Lyme Literate) but cited the IDSA instead and the "quacks" treating Lyme patients. Dr. Halpert was also not aware PANS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Syndrome) can be caused by other infections other than strep (said there is only PANDAS, not PANS). Dr. Halpert then quickly passed the buck to a rheumatologist (turfing), even though our daughter already had all the blood work done he said a rheumatologist would do, with the results right in front of him. He was dismissive and promptly sent us a bill for $402, which we are certainly hoping insurance covers. For someone living in a Lyme Endemic area (Ithaca, New York), Dr. Halpert has certainly not kept up with the times and should be ashamed as a Neurologist, for not educating himself on Neuroborreliosis and PANS. He has either chosen to not be informed, or he has been in touch with Dr. Allen Steere and Dr. Gary Wormser and now Dr. Halpert can include himself with the real "Quacks" of the medical field, not the brave, courageous, pioneering Lyme Literate Doctors who have been left to pick up the pieces from these dishonorable, dishonest doctors. I have seen Dr. David Halpert for three years now. I have chronic migraines, and he has not helped at all. I've been on Amitriptyline almost the entire time I've seen him, and it has really never worked for me; so he just upped my dosages. I now wake up sometimes and the muscles in my legs are so sore it hurts to walk. I'm only 18 years old. He recently, a couple months ago, put me on Verapamil (high blood pressure medication) and I refused to take it. He hasn't told me anything about this medication or what it could potentially do to my body. He also never told me how to wean myself off of my previous medication, or how to start the new one if I chose to. Just like he never told me Amitriptyline (Elavil) was addictive. He tells me I have chronic migraines, but yet my paperwork says I haven't been diagnosed yet. Probably because he has never done imaging screening on my head. It's time for a new neurologist. He is NOT Lyme Literate and in fact is only familiar with the IDSA (he did not even know what ILADS was). Dr. Halpert was also not aware that PANS can be caused by infections other than strep. As a neurologist living in a Lyme endemic area, his lack of knowledge on the disease is mind boggling and shameful.

Did not appreciate the lack of communication with regarding appointments. Drove all the way to my appointment to find out my appointment was a different day that they never even bothered to tell me about. Some of the receptionists/nurses were rude and not friendly. Dr. Halpert was always in a hurry and never fully listened to my concerns regarding my migraines.

I have had a great experience the first time I seen him. He is very sensitive and cares. Unlike most neurologist he has great manners. He listens. My insurance does not cover him and I pay him out of pocket because he's worth it.

Our problem was not with Dr. Halpert or his nurse, they were awesome. On exiting the treatment room, there is a sign "Patient Checkout" and a chair. Just as I was about to sit down, the receptionist rudely said Wait in the waiting room. So my family and I went into the waiting room. We sat down and listened while the receptionist had a chat with someone that was standing at her window, this chat cackles continued for 10 mins. We decided to leave, as we made our exit she called us, we kept going!

Doesn't seem to know what he's doing. Rude but straight forward.
