Because of Dr Thuillier’s ankle replacement surgery, I am able to walk without ankle pain.
I have a damaged leg (from an accident 70 years ago), and when there is a problem I visit Dr. Thuillier, as I did yesterday. As usual, he solved the problem. He is a very good doctor.
Dr Thuilier has a great professional demeanor. He remembers me even if my visits are in couple few years. He senàtive to my personal goal for my healing!
I've been seeing Dr. Daniel Thuillier for multiple ankle surgerys with both right and left ankles broke at one point. Dr. Daniel Thuillier has been my doctor for like 8 year's and every time he's very nice and always so very welcoming. My doctor is awesome he is always there to help very professional and always makes sure everything is handled in a very timely manner. I would highly recommend him to anyone and also recommend ucsf.
Dr. Daniel Thuillier, and all his team are truly amazing.I want to thank them all for making me feel special.I had a full ankle replacement. I Thank You for this lifetime experience. May God Bless You. Sincerely,Dina Bristol ????
Dr. T is awesome. He’s very knowledgeable, approachable and friendly. Diagnosed me with a fractured fibula and broken ankle, but not a broken spirit ;) The team is also awesome! Veronica, Merli, Kelsey and Kaley are so friendly and helpful too. I’m happy I switched to UCSF for my orthopedic needs.
I had a badly worn out right ankle which Dr Thuillier treated with a replacement of the tibiotalor joint and lateral ligament repair. The joint was good but the ligament couldn’t hold up. We decided after a couple of years to proceed with an ankle fusion. Now after three months I am progressing along as expected and am optimistic about the eventual result. Through out my experiences at UCSF, I have been been impressed with the care in all ways: professional, polite, attentive to my concerns, and efficient. In particular, Dr. Daniel Thuillier has been very good to me and clearly is determined to see me through to the best result possible.
Dr Thuillier reconstructed my foot and replaced my ankle. He didn’t sugar coat that it was a tough surgery. It has allowed me to continue to enjoy hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. The pain is now gone and the functionality of my ankle is back. He has a Great Team and hospital that supports his skills. I look forward to continue my new mobility. With my highest regard I write this review. Jeff Clayton
Dr. Thuillier was great. He listened to my ankle problems and provided me a fix for my arthritis in my ankle
Dr. Thuillier is a class act. My case is not an easy one, given some restrictions that I have and he is doing whatever it takes to make sure that I get the proper treatment for my pain management. He is someone who does not give up on his patients no matter what obstacles may occur. He is one of the best! Thanks Dr. Thuillier! Best Regards, Eli
I am so thankful to have been in the care of Dr. Thuillier and his team. Dr. Thuillier is extremely professional when the time calls for it, and very personable and “real” otherwise. He never “sugarcoated” the harder moments of my injury and recovery, and was very vocal about the roadmap and that if I stuck to the aftercare routine and PT, that things would begin to feel normal in no time and they did. It was empowering and gave me confidence. This made for an easy time navigating my recovery journey, and I looked forward to my regular check ins with him. I highly recommend Dr. Thuillier for his professionalism and his air of friendly graciousness.
Dr. Thullier is an outstanding surgeon and beyond that an awesome man. I had the most complex and strange weird case with very advanced arthritis in my big toe and part of the bone was necrotic. I am only 24, and it was incredibly important to me to preserve motion and reduce pain. I saw a total of 8 famously very skilled surgeons in California regarding this issue and landed on Dr. Thullier because of his demeanor, realistic but optimistic attitude, and just the wild amount of incredible by-mouth recommendations for him. He was also one of very few surgeons I saw to be ambitious about my case and preform a lesser-known high risk high reward surgery for me; his confidence and expertise put me phenomenally at ease. His office staff is awesome, including Vanessa at the front desk and Demi, his practice coordinator. He was always extremely timely at his appointments, and even surgery too- Where he showed up early! (At Mt. Zion). He is very timely with Mychart messages and questions and he’s just the best guy and best surgeon- I really did get so lucky. Thank you Dr. Thullier for all that you do!! He is seriously the foot and ankle wizard!!!
Yes, I would highly recommend Dr. Thuillier and his team to my family & friends. I broke my ankle and Dr. Thuillier made me feel not only comfortable but empowered and confident throughout the whole process. He is very personable, shares his knowledge and didn’t try to “sugarcoat” any of the regular updates I was getting from him during our video conference, pre surgery chat and regular concise updates via GetWell Loop
Dr. Thuillier stepped in to give me a second opinion on surgery for my broken ankle, which differed substantially from that of my first orthopedic surgeon. I trusted him due to his very obvious expertise but also his sensitivity and caring manner. He juggled his schedule to fit my surgery in on short notice. I’m very grateful and appreciative of how he made the time and stepped in to get me what I needed. His report immediately after the surgery confirmed I had definitely needed it and I’m glad I had it.
Dr. Thuillier and his staff are caring and technically strong. They take time to explain thing and answer all questions. His practice is very well run and I recommend it highly.
Dr T is an outstanding doctor. Very accessible and easy to talk to,ask questions of, and share worries with. He’s a wonderful surgeon. My surgery went beautifully. His staff is excellent and truly kind.
Very comfortable, reliable, answering all questions, etc.
Surgery for multiple fractures in left ankle
Unfortunately I had a terrible experience with Dan Thuillier. He was inexperienced and I was naive to think he was qualified to cut my foot open just because he had certain “qualifications”. The metatarsal shortening was a total failure because it was done incorrectly where my bone now drops beneath padding, and all 4 hammer toes corrections were ineffective and now more painful than ever. Almost 5 years later and I am left with Everyday more pain than prior to suregery. What’s most disappointing was the follow up and my complaints were essentially left of deaf ears. Do yourself a favor- do your homework. Wait to only have surgery by a HIGHLY experienced surgeon even if it means waiting or going out of state. Biggest mistake of my life. Dr. Thuiller conducted a microfracture surgery through arthroscopy on my ankle at Veteran Hospital SF. It went successfully and I am pain free now. Highly recommend!
Dr. Thuillier is totally awesome! From the initial diagnosis of a Jones fracture in my left foot, to the surgery, to the many follow-up visits as the bone slowly healed, Dr. Thuillier far exceeded my expectations. He was always warm, friendly, down-to-earth, encouraging and upbeat - thoroughly explained the injury and the challenges of healing, reassured me every step of the way, and did everything with the utmost professionalism and skill. He literally got me back on my feet again! If I could give him more than five stars I would!! Dr. Thuillier is THE doctor to see for foot and ankle injuries!! Dr. Thuillier is totally awesome! If I could give this so called “doctor” negative stars I would after he severely botched my bunion surgery and left me disabled for a year and a half causing me excruciating pain every single day! It is more suiting to call him a “butcher”. It was determined by at least three other board certified surgeon that Thuillier cut the bone in my big toe too short causing all sorts of complications in my left foot including but not limited to nerve damage, meteralsia and many more conditions. He also inserted three oversized pins in my foot, which the second surgeon removed and gave me to take home. I have attached pictures below. No doctor could comprehend why he inserted such large and intrusive pins in my petite sized foot. As a result of Thuillier’s incompetence, I endured severe nerve pain and could not place my foot on the ground most days. I could not walk for more than 10 minutes without severe pain. I had to give up my yoga practice. My life changed due to this incompetent doctor. Thuillier never had any constructive suggestions, no MRI, no PT, no referral to nerve physician, absolutely nothing. Instead he strung me along for a year and a half for post-op after post-op with zero results. I finally fired him and went to California Pacific and had to endure a second surgery, which so far has fixed all my issues. During the initial consultation, he met with me for less than 10 minutes and the next time I saw him was in the OR. I learned from other surgeons, that they see their patients at least 5-6 times to fully analyze their situation PRIOR to cutting them open. Thuillier rushed through the consult and never bothered to discuss the different types of bunion surgeries (there are approximately 30 ways to do this surgery) and made it appear as a “one size fits all”, which it is certainly not! PLEASE do not let this guy treat you and do not get fooled by his charm and “fake” kindness. He will not have your best interest at heart and clearly has no clue in orthopedics. I wish I had sued him and reported him to the medical board. Please take time to check out the other horrific reviews I have posted below from other victims. It appears he like most other businesses is paying Google to only post 5 star reviews which may or may not even be true!! Incompetent as it gets Self-verified patient of Dr. Daniel U Thuillier - Posted on August 2nd, 2018 Had consult with him and while he appears "nice" he did not offer accurate diagnosis on my plantar fasaitis and caused me months of unnecessary discomfort until I saw another orthopedic surgeon at CPMC. He also does not recommend MRIs and only takes x-rays which clearly do not show nerve pain! Ex-Patient Self-verified patient of Dr. Daniel U Thuillier - Posted on June 22nd, 2018 General take is this Dr. Thuillier is inexperienced with anything other than what a normal podiatrist in your home town can do. He and his intern assured me I didn't have any torn ligaments or Tendons. I suggested we do an MRI because I had suffered with the ankle for 8 months. MRI results showed torn peroneal tendon, huge synovial fluid sac and tears in ligaments of varying degrees, including complete tear in ATFL. After seeing MRI results he said I just needed physical therapy and new expensive orthotics. SO more time and money and effort was spent needlessly. Needless to say I got worse and of course the orthodics Dr. is his Friend that he referred me to at the ucsf parnassis clinic. Eventually I looked up best ankle surgeons in US and found Dr. Mann. Went to him and he knew within 2 minutes that I had a very bad situation that was NOT going to get better without surgery. SO, I had surgery and am 3 months post op. I am on the way to recovering, because of the depth of the surgery. This Dr. Thuillier is arrogant, comes off as personable, but doesn't have the experience to diagnose, or repair anything more than a fractured toe. Wonderful doctor & staff. Would definitely recommend!
Dr Thuillier thoroughly explained the procedure enabling me to make an informed decision to go under the knife. He performed the surgery, which was very complex, flawlessly. From the very first visit with Dr Thuillier to aftercare , my ankle replacement was a outstanding example of medicine practice at the highest level of efficiency, consideration for patient, promptness ,and individual attention. It was without question one of the very best medical experiences I have had in my 78:years.. Not only was the result terrific (3 months after surgery I’m biking walking briskly and swimming daily. ) After years of a bad ankle this is an enormous gift of mobility I never dreamed of having .it was achieved with a minimum of pain or discomfiture. Two weeks on non weight bearing the most difficult part . Thereafter it was a breeze and dr thullier was only an email away when questions arose The personnel in the clinic are all friendly well trained responsive and prompt - a rarity in today’s medicine I’m stunned how few folks know about ankle replacements-and while,I’m not leaping over tall buildings or playing rugby I’m fully mobile, again.with lots of ankle flexibility and movement that Fusion would not permit . —-Stefan Curry doesn’t have to worry about his ankle as long as dr Thullier is on the sideline ! Dr. Thuillier is the best doctor I have ever had. He is both incredibly skilled as a surgeon and wonderfully caring in his approach. Most importantly, the surgery was a success. He did a tendon replacement surgery on my left foot and I am completely rehabilitated and walking/exercising as normal again. I have minimal scars and my left foot feels as good as new. I cannot recommend him highly enough if you need foot or ankle work. In addition to his expertise and skill in performing the surgery, his approach is unparalleled. He is incredibly knowledgeable, competent, humble, kind, patient, and responsive. In my appointments, Dr. Thuillier could always thoroughly answer my questions and then would spend the time to ensure I felt comfortable with every step along the way. When I had concerns about the surgery or recovery, he would always patiently listen and work through them with me. He genuinely cares about his patients healing and getting better. Additionally, even when I had questions outside of appointments, he was extremely responsive. I felt supported and well-cared-for throughout the process - even post-surgery. By its nature, my surgery was particularly complicated and painful with a long recovery, but Dr. Thuillier made it as good of an experience as it could have been. I have already recommended him to many friends and while I hope to not need a surgery again, if I do - he would be my first choice. Dr. Thuillier is the best doctor I have ever had. Dr Thuillier is kind, very professional, an expert in his field and caring.
Dr. Thillier did a total right ankle joint replacement 10 months ago. The outcome was great, it functions just like original one. Pain is gone and I'm able to walk a long distance again. Dr. Thuillier has the ability to discus your problem and find something that will work. Doing so, you feel like you the only patent he has.
