If you aren't being treated with the urgency deserved, be sure to call often and, if needed, to post a complaint here. ** ** Updating to 3 stars as my surgery was booked for next week within hours of the posting of my previously 1-star review ** Dr McLean has been great so far. The office, however, is a joke. I had 2 gallbladder attacks prior to having a consultation with Dr McLean, 1 being severe enough to make me go to the ER. When I scheduled with his office I pushed back on needing a consult as he could reference the CT scan and ultrasound from my visit at the ER. They said that I had to go in. He couldn't see me for over a week, despite the ER's release instructions saying I needed to be seen within 1-2 days. They said to call back at 4 pm to see if anyone cancelled. Fortunately, someone had cancelled so my appt got moved up 3 days. At the appointment I waited 2 hours to be seen for 5 minutes. Dr McLean looked at the imaging results and said, yep, surgery. We'll get it approved with insurance and scheduled hopefully by the end of the week if not early next week (it was Tuesday). His office told me that if I had an attack I should go to their hospital's ER and that he would be paged to perform the surgery. I was charged nearly $200 for the 5-minute consultation on my high deductible plan. I then had an attack that same night at midnight. I went to their ER and had a whole fiasco where Dr McLean was unavailable (out of town? even though I had just seen him). The surgeon on call wouldn't operate. They gave me pain meds until 5 am when they released me with only a prescription for ibuprofen. ???? I called Dr McLean's office in the morning to ask about where we were at with scheduling. They hadn't done anything. The first step was to send a note to my insurance for approval. I've followed up every morning since (today being Friday), and they still haven't sent the note. If you want anything done, be sure to push and push because the office is happy to wait forever to get anything done.

Dr. McLean is the bestest of the best ????????‍⚕️ PERIOD.! I recommend him 100%. ????????

Excellent physician! My brother and and I had procedures done by Dr. McLean and would trust him and his colleagues on any medical issues that may arise in the future. Highly recommended!

He's a very confident and fast acting surgeon. I had a bad experience with a different surgeon who lacked confidence in himself. This was a high risk surgery due to my condition but Dr. Mclean made it a smooth process.

Doctor McLean took plenty of time to explain the procedure to my family. He had an excellent bedside manner and was very matter of fact about what we could expect. Did not feel like a rushed interaction like you experience with most physicians . The front office is excellent, very helpful in processing insurance and obtaining paperwork that you need would give 6 stars, this has been my best medical experience in the Rio Grande Valley thus far. On july 11 2016 I took my mom to have her lumen catheter removed. As mr Mclean began the procedure i noticed the manner in which he injected my mother with anesthetic was inhumane because needle did not want to go in and he forced it trough with force versus injecting it smoothly. That cause my mom horror and pain. And before giving that a moment to take effect before removing the tube that goes in the chest, he bluntly pulled it out with incompetency and no warning. Again all my mom could do was watch in horror. As i confronted him about this unprofessional and cruel practice, he could only say sorry, but only to get us on our way. I often think back to that very unpleasant even and wonder how many people go trough that day in, and day out. The entry wound that closed still bears a mark and causes my mom pain at times. Please make sure this man is doing and caring for the public, not handling patient like live cattle is really all i can say.
