Dr. Mass knew right away what my diagnosis was upon walking in the room. The residents and med students attempted to figure it out, but the way Dr. Mass walked in and knew exactly the issue gave me confidence. He told me I had two options either live with it or have surgery. I’ve never had surgery prior to this and was afraid. I held off for a bit but ended up scheduling it. He was awesome! I believe he came out of retirement which was actually a blessing to me because he’s one of those rare surgeons that not only loves his crafts but genuinely cares about his patients! He saved my elbows with his unmatchable surgery experience which others well known Surgeons could not do .

Dr Mass did my hand surgery which turned out absolutely fantastic. When I tore my rotator I was able to have him fix that as well. He has done fantastic work, he spends the time to listen, explain and lay all fears to rest. I was one of his last surgeries before he has taken his long earned retirement. Dr Mass performed an ulnar osteotomy in 2008. This was a second surgery, after I retore my TFCC after a first surgery elsewhere. I would absolutely recommend Dr Mass to anyone with hand and/or upper extremity issues. He quite literally saved my life. I am a programmer and use my hands for a living. The post op, in my opinion was about 10/10 (after the bier block wore off). However, I partially blame myself for waiting too long to take the pain meds provided to me. The ice machine is also a god-send! Thank you, Dr Mass!

I've been a patient of Dr. Mass's for nearly 20 years, he is a great surgeon, solid bedside manner. He took care of me when my local hospital couldn't figure what was wrong with my thumb. I agree with the other reviewer he also seems to write in my notes that I have fallen when I haven't, but for me this hasn't caused any problems (no workman comp or anything, just annoyingly not accurate). His office staff lacks any and all ability to work together, and because it's the UoC they don't care and won't likely change so just temper your expectations. Excellent care thrilled with his surgery. Wish he did Knees. Finally can cook & bake without pain.

Dr. Mass did revision surgery from a previous surgeon's work. The ulnar nerve was dying from the previous surgeon neglect in placement of the nerve initially during the first surgery in Naperville. Dr Mass identified the problem several consults could not; he went in and fixed the problem saving my elbow and hand from further nerve damage. I had Dr Daniel Mass for a left shoulder injury I got from a car accident I was driving got hit from behind and seat belt locked up and my left shoulder got severely injured to the point I was diagnosed by Dr Mass wish frozen shoulder he took me into surgery and under sedation freed my shoulder only to have it freeze up 4 more times which Dr Mass did those surgeries as well during one of my surgeries I faltlined and he had to do lift saving measures on me. Once again I scheduled the surgery only for the same outcome finally Dr Mass said the only thing left to do to keep this from reoccurring is complete left shoulder replacement and guess what I have been out pain and have total use of my arm back. I would go back to Dr Mass in a heart beat he saved my life when I flatlined ( he told me I was the first patient to ever flatline on him). But I still opted for the surgery and since my complete shoulder replacement free from pain. Dr. Mass is the only Doctor that performs wrist replacement surgery in the Chicago land area. I had this procedure performed by Dr. Mass 2 years ago. Its amazing, I have no pain, complete use my wrist. He is a wonderful & caring Doctor. I have used him for another procedure since then, very happy with my recovery. I , Kevin was referred to doctor mass from a Surgery with was a workers comp injury in 2015. With doctor mass wrote a letter to Sedgwick claim that I fell and I never told him that, and he charged my attorney five hundred to rewrite the merrit and wanted to charge then two thousand more to rewrite it again witch he wrote it incorrectly in the beginning, witch I think he did deliberately to collect money. About a decade ago I was told to just accept and learn to live with my shoulder atrophy. I and my wife were completely devastated. Then we met you and after examining me immediately stated the procedure I needed and said lets fix it ! I and my wife will continue thanking the Lord for you in how you healed me, and will forever be thankful. Your entire staff were very courteous and informative. I hope I never run into anyone needing such a surgery as this, should the case arise I would recommend!

Dr.Mass is the greatest doctor you will ever find. Back in 1995 on New Years Eve He not only saved my shoulder, (arm) but also live after some other doctor in lake Forest hospital infected me with staph while operating on my rotator cuff.Great job Doc.My replacement still works fine after 21 years of golfing.
