I cannot comment on his level of medical expertise, but he apparently is so impressed with himself, that he thinks he can completely ignore what the patient is telling him. Both my wife and I were telling him, in great detail, that I was having a toxic reaction to a medication he prescribed. We were BEGGING him to help me discontinue the med. It was making me insane, and I was lashing out at my family constantly. I couldn't concentrate, and was having severe memory issues, to the point that I had to repeatedly stop pre-med classes mid-semester. There were times I actually forgot how to get to the school, or had to pull over, call my wife, and ask her where I was driving to. My wife was in tears while describing to this quack how this medication was affecting both me, her, and especially our children. At the end of all this, what does this MORON do? He says "you're not taking enough", and RAISES THE DOSE !! I wanted to throw him through a wall, but it was a teleconference. I ended up having to detoxify myself, which almost resulted in me losing my life, twice, and was able to get outside (non-VA) help in switching to another med. The improvement was immediate and drastic! Three years later, I have been slowly returning to normal and regaining much of my cognitive capacity. My memory difficulties remain. In fact, I have no recollection of most of what occurred in the years I was on that poison. I lost about 7 years of my life, and my family has been having difficulty recovering from the trauma. Thanks for the help, Doctor Bonehead! Didn't they teach you in medical school to ALWAYS LISTEN TO YOUR PATIENT, you arrogant ASS? What your eyes see, what your hands feel, and what your rudimentary tools reveal are NOTHING compared to what can be gleaned from LISTENING to the person who lives with the ailment 24 hours a day. He or she IS the expert until you've extracted every piece of useful information from them, discounting NOTHING out of turn. If you don't have the time or the inclination to do so, then the only option an ETHICAL physician has is to take what they say at face value, NOT just ignore it and shoe-horn it into your desired assessment. That drug did real, profound, and lasting harm to me, and to my family as well, and was doing so at the time of our visit. We gave you reams of credible evidence to support that, or at the very least, enough evidence to suggest that SOMETHING was amiss. Instead, you essentially mocked us, utterly discounted everything we said, and made an already horrible situation even worse! That is an INEXCUSABLE level of malpractice! I wish that I could bring a lawsuit against you for that, but apparently VA doctors are shielded from any accountability for their screw-ups. Warning other patients about you will have to suffice. If I can save one patient from enduring something similar to what you did to me, that will be greatly comforting.
