I am 17 years old and saw Dr Proud following an accident in which I sustained a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI). She didn’t have my records ready and didn’t know what I was seeing her for, so I said “a SCI,” and she didn’t know what that was so I had to say “Spinal Cord Injury.” I asked many neurological questions regarding my injury and she couldn’t give me ONE answer. She wasn’t aware of a WC referral form for Tricare that even my non specialist office knows of. Because they are supposed to be specialists in SCI, and therefore paralysis, you’d think she’d know about wheelchair referrals. After waiting months to get in, it was only a disappointment. She is one of the best doctors I have ever met. She was so nice and patient. She was listening and caring. she had good feedback on my 2-yer-old daughter. I recommend her.

My son has been a patient of Dr. Proud for over 3 years & she is Awesome ????. He's been a patient there at the practice for over 8 years but I was unhappy with his previous neurologist until I was recommended Dr. Proud. Very update on new procedures, very thorough & easy to talk to about about my concerns. I'm glad she's in our life, she's the best Dr ever. Thank you. D. I was excited to be referred to CHKD and Dr. Proud to help my 4 year old son find answers. We did not know why he had such intense aggression. In our first visit (February, 2017), without knowing that the issue was she offered me a list of about 6 prescriptions she would recommend for my 4 year old son to try and asked me which I would like to start with. I had only filled out an intake questionnaire at this time. After 2+ visits with Dr. Proud, she had not ordered any tests or physical exams for my son to help us figure out what was causing his behavior but she did refer us to a psychologist. After multiple visits with a psychiatrist, psychologist, and therapists I called months later and asked for an EEG or any sort of brain mapping that CHKD could offer as I was convinced something physical was going on with my son and I wanted to look at his brain for more answers. She politely refused and told me there was no need for such tests and again referred me to Behavioral services and released us from her care. But, before getting off the phone, she offered to increase his prescription. I asked her, "for what? We don't even know what he has". I took my son elsewhere and had them perform a qEEG which revealed a traumatic brain injury (TBI) on the area of the brain that regulates mood. I immediately shared the medical reports with qEEG results with Dr. Proud and left a message that I would like to discuss next steps. Her nurse called me back to politely let me know there was nothing more they could do and that I should contact behavioral services as there is nothing that an EEQ could do for us. !!!!!!!!!!!!! What? I had to remind them that I ALREADY had a qEEG performed by someone else and had faxed them the results showing a TBI. I can't help but wonder how much time, money and anxiety would have been saved if Dr. Proud had listened to my requests with an open mind or even better with guidance so we could help my son find the treatment he really needs. After multiple attempts to work collaboratively, I fail to see any reason to recommend this team to anyone looking for help with a difficult diagnosis or with a child with unanswered issues. Good luck to the parents out there on the same journey and struggle we have been on. I suggest you keep fighting for your child, keep seeking help from multiple doctors until someone finally listens and offers DIRECTION rather than a prescription for symptoms and no answers. Dr. Proud took over my son's care in 2015 and I have been very happy with the level of expertise and attentiveness she and her staff provide every time we visit. I have never felt rushed during our appointments and she always takes the time to discuss all of my concerns. She addresses my son like a valuable human being and is never condescending in her responses. I find her to be very proactive in the tests and studies she schedules or refers us to. Dr. Proud and her team have been instrumental in maintaining my child's health and managing the progression of his disease. We are all very blessed to be in the care of such a dedicated medical provider that has chosen to practice in pediatric neurology, a very challenging and sensitive specialty. We were at our wits end with our daughters toe-walking until we met Dr. proud. She is very caring, smart and personable. My daughter loved her and was less scared of any testing Dr. Proud did because she was so sweet and funny. She referred us to Dr. Lesher (physical medicine-rehabilitation), another great doctor and we started seeing progress. I would recommend Dr. Proud to anyone!
