Cristina Drafta

I would not recommend Christine Drafta as I found her to be a very poor listener, interrupted me when I attempted to tell her my history and was arrogant in her interpretation of my diagnosis. She made many mistakes in my chart which is not only confusing to other physicians that review it but can be dangerous for a patient, particulary if there is a drug allergy or reaction and she fails to record those medications or records things that never happened or medications you never took. She was essentially a waste of time. NYU should have competent doctors there that actually know what they are doing, care and listen to patients, regardless of what type of medical condition they need treated. She can't just pick and choose her cases based on what conditions that she prefers to treat but she made that more than obvious from the get go. Medicine doesn't (or should not) work that way. If you are not up to the task and challenge, then you need to find another position doing something else.

Warning to Hypermobile and young chronically ill ppl - this Dr thinks EDS shouldn't be disabling and refused to read the scientific studies I brought her on neuro manifestations. She’ll slap you with a psych DX if you advocate for yourself. After seeing her for years trying to get help for involuntary movements, she took my wheelchair use (which has improved my quality of life immensely) as a sign that I "want to be sick" and DXed me with conversion disorder. This DX meant I was denied by a Dr who specializes in CCI and CSF leaks. I’ve finally seen an EDS specialist who immediately suspected CCI and pressure on my brainstem. I may finally get proper care. I’m also getting treatment for medical PTSD as a result of this abusive care denial. I wish I could’ve warned ppl sooner, but I barely survived this. I know finding a Hyp-friendly neuro is pretty much impossible, but please don't go to her. Search for Hyp-ACCESS if you're really struggling with care in NYC, they may be able to help.

During the two plus years I saw Dr Drafta I developed multiple symptoms, starting with a tremor. I then developed stiffness and dizziness, symptoms of Parkinsons. She calls herself an expert in Parkinson's yet she somehow completely missed the diagnosis, coming up with an absurd idea of it being psychosomatic. Her misdiagnosis cost me 2 years of proper treatment. I went to another doctor who got it right the first visit.

Dr Drafta really takes the time to listen to patients concerns. She is empathetic and provided excellent advice, options and care.

While two other doctors were quick to send me to the operating room, Dr. D suggested another option to manage and reduce the pain. I am forever grateful for actually changing my life.

Dr. Drafts was the worst migraine doc I've been to. She was dismissive and rude, ignored me and what I was saying, and tried to prescribe medication I couldn't take (I have an ulcer; she claimed I didn't. My GE would disagree). Do not go to her!
