Dr. Meehan is very thorough and takes her time. She answered all my questions during the visit, and responds quickly. She reassured me and my child. She is the best doctor you could ever ask for. I highly recommend her.

How many doctors today give you their cell phone numbers and respond to texts quickly about your child's care? Not many, but Dr. Meehsn does. We were all devastated when my teenage son was diagnosed with T1 diabetes, but she's made things so much easier. From the time she saw us in the hospital, my son and I both knew that we would continue with her practice after discharge because she was so warm, friendly, and positive. She even shared websites that she personally liked for low carb meal planning that she used at home with her family. If another reviewer says she has a poor bedside manner, I suspect there's a good chance the problem is with that reviewer.

After a horrific experience with another endocrinologist with my 18 month old prior to meeting Dr. Meehan, I needed quality care for my son. I turned to her in a terrible moment and she had deplorable bedside manner and acted like she knew everything. She misdiagnosed him, used inappropriate language and laughed at inappropriate times. When she had a new diagnosis, she expected me to be impressed. Instead of just believing her, I took it upon myself to go get a second opinion for my son to be sure we got it right before starting a new medicine. She seemed offended and annoyed that I would ever question her. She spoke to the prior endocrinologist without my permission, as well. After spending two weeks in a hospital, out of state, getting the tests done for the diagnosis that Meehan had given us, we did find her diagnosis to be true. I was happy to fly back home with my son and go into her office that same day to tell her she had been right and to have her show me how to administer the new meds. We were running 15 minutes late due to unforeseen traffic and I called the office to explain that. The woman at the front desk said the doctor wouldn’t be there when I got there. Then put me on hold when I expressed my disappointment & when she came back on the line she said she would be in the office. So I continued driving there with my son. Once in the office, the nurses were rude and whispering. Meehan saw us and ignored us completely. She slammed paper work down and said very loudly so I could hear her: “ I’M NOT SEEING HER TODAY, YOU GUYS CAN THOUGH!!” I ignored her outburst and was let back by an eye rolling nurse. She was rude, interrupting me while I tried to explain why we were there. She began to explain how to administer the medicine and I stopped her to mention a different frequency of when to administer his medication off of the official diagnosis discharge papers from the hospital WE HAD JUST SPENT TWO WEEKS AT, she snapped and told me I was wrong. That it “doesn’t work that way” about how and when to give the medicine. However, on the discharge papers from that hospital was exactly what I had mentioned. She ripped the papers out of my hand and insisted she needed to show Meehan before we could continue, she then turned and left the room, slamming the door on us. I packed up my son after feeling dismissed, ignored and treated so incredible rude. I took the papers back from the nurse and never even saw Meehan. I ended up calling the hospital we just got home from to tell them, they insisted I was right and apologized for Meehan’s abhorrent behavior. I would never recommend someone with no compassion & a know it all personality, like Meehan. She needs a slice of humble pie.
