After seeing many orthopedics Dr. Merkel was able to figure out what was causing my ankle to swell and hurt. Took him a few different approaches, but he never gave up. Thank you Dr. Merkel.

One year ago today (10-23-18) Dr. Merkel put my ankle back together. I had broken it in 3 places and it has a metal plate & 8 screws in it. Thanks to him and good PT, I have full use of my ankle with no problems at all. In fact, I only found this 'review spot' because I was hunting his address to send him a thank you note. I am so grateful for this gift!

Very knowledgeable Doctor. He explained and answered all of my questions. Wish he wasn’t retiring.

I waited 4 months to get an appointment with this doctor and his staff treated me very rudely and acted like I was inconveniencing them. The doctor spent less than 5 minutes with me. The 2nd visit was just as bad. He was abrupt and didnt explain much. I switched doctors.

I am the serious klutz of my family. I have broke my left ankle and Dr Merkle took care of me with that issue. Then while out of town I fell at a park and broke my tibia and crushed my ankle and dislocated it with breaking three bones. I didn't walk for over a year. He was the kindest gentlest man I have ever met. I hate crutches and I would at times put weight down on my foot and he snuck up behind me and told me..Caught ya! He is a great doctor. I recommend he to anyone.

I was sent to this Dr by my primary Dr and tried to explain to him about my foot. I told him I was having pain on the upper part of my foot. I said something like the nerves. Well he sent me fir X-rays etc and came up with fusion of my ankle. So I trusted him and went to get surgery done and a huge screw thru my heal to my ankle and several casts later. My foot hurts 10 times worse. My dr called it a botched surgery. Oh my. How I am in PAIN due to his man. Now I don't know who to trust. Plus the day before my surgery Arrowhead Ortho called me to infirm me I needed to bring in 1600.00 in order for dr to do surgery. Who would do that to a patient. At least give them a week to come up with the money. Damm. Not asking for much. I would not recommend him as a dr. Seems like he was guessing.

Went to see Dr. Merkel about my ankle problem and was extremely pleased with his professionalism, his care and concern. He explained everything in plain english. He is the only ankle specialist there so it takes a while to get an appointment. The wait was the quickest I have ever experienced. I would recommend Dr. Merkel to anyone that has foot and/or ankle problems.

when you find the best surgeon by accident, when you really need him, it is not an accident, there is a greater power intervening here. You can not possibly comprehend this until you have the experience that I have. Three times ....He is truly an Angel. I can never repay him enough. , will never forget.

Do not go to this doctor. He was rude, short in speech, did not want to explain anything. Worst doctor I have EVER been to.
