January 13, 2018 Texas Medical Board I would appreciate your assistance in the investigation in the chain of events that rendered me incapacitated from November 15th through December 6th, 2017. I am submitting my concerns from my November 15, 2017 through December 6, 2017 in hospital experience. Is it normal p rotocol for the staples to blow open resulting in the need for a second surgery (that is charged to the patient) after taking two CT scans post-op on November 21st and 25th; lastly contracting an infection at the wound incision if the doctor practiced his due diligence by checking said infection on daily visits.

I am submitting my concerns from my November 15, 2017 through December 6, 2017 in hospital experience. Is it normal p rotocol for the staples to blow open resulting in the need for a second surgery (that is charged to the patient) after taking two CT scans post-op on November 21st and 25th; lastly contracting an infection at the wound incision if the doctor practiced his due diligence by checking said infection on daily visits. Supporting hospital documentation will be provided upon request. Upon arriving at Texas Health Alliance ER on November 15th, Dr. Christian Carr, (the general surgeon on call) performed the Laparoscopic Ileocecectomy on my necrotic appendix. I started experiencing nausea after the November 15th, 2017 Laparoscopic Ileocecectomy; therefore, I was given Flagyl 500mg for the nausea since November 18th. Eventually an NG tube was placed in my abdomen. The November 21, 2017 CT scan showed some air (air bubbles) near the anastomosis, along with white blood count down. Repeated a CT scan on November 25th with persistent air near the anastomosis, which caused concern that there was a leak by anastomosis. So, with Dr. Christian Carr’s recommendation for a surgery to go back in and seal the leakage, my second surgery was performed on November 25th by Dr. Christian Carr. The right lower quadrant of the anastomosis presented spillage of some bile. The vertical staple line of the colon had blown open causing the area to be inflamed. I voiced my concerns on November 29th and 30th to Dr. Christian Carr that my scar was excessively itchy. On December 1st Dr. Christian Carr noticed that the incision had a faint erythema. On December 2nd, I received a blood transfusion due to my low blood count as a result of losing 50cc of blood from the second surgery performed on November 25th. On December 3rd Dr. Christian Carr removed the staples due to the pink color and pus on the outer incision, and once opened up revealed pus inside the cavity of the surgical wound as well. At this time the opened cavity of the surgical wound was packed with Dakins three times a day. On December 6th, I received, trained and was educated on a wound vac.

Dr. Carr removed my lipoma. He is one of the best surgeons I've seen. He is caring, professional, and skillful.

On November 14, 2017 I was instructed by my primary care physician (assigned at the time), Dr. Lida Aghdam to report to Gateway Diagnostic Imaging for an CT scan of my abdomen due to the pain that I was experiencing. I received a phone call on the morning of November 15th, from Dr. Lida Aghdam instructing me to report to Texas Health Alliance Emergency Room due to my appendix might burst and that I could die. Upon arriving at Texas Health Alliance ER on November 15th, Dr. Christian Carr, (the general surgeon on call) performed the Laparoscopic Ileocecectomy on my necrotic appendix. I don't give many 5 star reviews, and never in 1,000,000 years would I have thought about giving a Doctor a 5 star most are forced to be watchful least they get a law suit. But this Dr. Is incredible, did a wonderful job with my Hernia repair, but more than that, first he did the surgery himself not a 5 incision robot doing the work, second he was straight forward and honest, no run around, no upsale with another surgery. Day of the surgery he was quick found a second hernia and did the repair for me, most importantly he personally called me from his home to check on me... Incredible care. Simply incredible I don't give many 5 star reviews, and never in 1,000,000 years would I have thought about giving a Doctor a 5 star most are forced to be watchful least they get a law suit. Dr. Carr called my husband the night of surgery. We got home at 9 pm and he called at 10 pm. He was super nice, informative and professional. We would recommend him highly!

Dr. Carr's assistant called me a day before my scheduled gallbladder removal surgery to cancel explaining I needed a stress test first. I have been in significant pain for over a month and was counting hours and minutes to get this surgery done. It is inexplicable this doctor did not tell me this was needed to be done before scheduling this A WEEK AGO! Further, why did this doctor NOT call me to advise me personally as to why I needed a stress test first, as to which I still have no answer.
