Dr. Chiawen Liang

I was referred to Dr. Liang for an EMG test that involves needle sticks so I was expecting it to be more painful than it was. She she performed this test with minimal discomfort to me, explaining all the way what she was doing. I found her to be very professional, kind and very easy to talk to. I highly recommend her.

Dr. Liang clearly made up her mind before I ever entered her office that I did not meet her specific criteria for care. She spent about fifteen minutes total with me; five minutes performing a perfunctory neurological exam, and another ten explaining why I shouldn't have been referred to her in the first place. She constantly interrupted me and didn't allow me to finish a single sentence. It was an incredibly frustrating experience. I wish she had just declined the referral in the first place instead of wasting my time and charging an exorbitant new patient exam fee. This appointment yielded no answers for me, and now I'm stuck with a large enough bill that I won't be financially able to try for another specialist for some time. Which means being in pain for the foreseeable future. I would not recommend seeing this doctor unless you establish ahead of time that your case absolutely fits within the purview of her specialty.

Dr. Liang is an incredibly knowledgeable, conscientious and compassionate physician who treated my torn rotator cuff when no one else could. Specifically, she utilized Platelet Rich Plasma ("PRP") therapy to heal my shoulder when surgery and physical therapy were not options. I've been fairly active throughout my life, and my activities included playing rugby, weight training, running marathons, and even completing an Ironman distance triathlon. However, with my rotator cuff tear, I was unable to swim, throw a ball, pick up my kids, or even do a basic push up without experiencing pain. I knew that each painful movement was making my injury worse. I went to an orthopedic surgeon who said that my injury wasn't serious enough for surgery, and there was nothing preventative that I could do. I then went to a physical therapist who basically put on a hot compress and suggested some stretches but said that a second PT session was unnecessary because nothing else could be done. Needless

Dr. Liang is very good. While she doesn't have the warmest personality, she was honest and clear (if a bit blunt) and thoroughly explained what she was doing and her findings. I had no problem with scheduling and was seen fairly quickly. The only complaint I have is that her office charges the amount of a full copay just to provide a copy of the report to her patients. (Free to other doctors, but if you want your own record, you have to pay). No other doctor has charged for that recently.
